Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 WiFi Router's impressive range, ease of use, and performance. Many appreciate its strong signal and the generally simple setup process, leading to positive experiences with streaming and overall WiFi quality. However, some users reported occasional connection issues and noted the router's relatively large size. While some experienced improvements in lag, others mentioned problems with the firmware.

This unit replaced a much cheaper one and as seems to be typical these days it is not all that great.

Nothing but problems with this supposedly 'top-of-the-line' router. Connects/disconnects - laptops have to tap another connection then come back to this one to get it to work. Didn't notice anymore distance. Tried all the tweaks. Just want my inexpensive Buffalo back, just plugged it in and never had to do anything for 3 years. Should have bought that.

    Constant dropped wifi

I bought this to replace the router Spectrum was renting to me, which was awful. I needed something very reliable and the Nighthawk was highly recommended. My experience with this router has been terrible. Wifi constantly dropped and I had to reset the router and the modem almost every day. Admittedly part of the issue was with Spectrum's modem, which I also replaced with a decent Arris modem. But even after the modem replacement I still had issues. I returned this router and against my better judgement I went with another, more powerful (and expensive) Nighthawk that a colleague was raving about - the AX5400. It may have cost me $120 more, but it was worth every penny. I haven't had a single issue with it since I plugged it in. So avoid the AC line and go with the Wifi 6 AX model.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ROUTER. $150 down the drain! I’ve run multiple tests in my apartment and determined that this router does not keep a constant wifi signal. Want to add a new device? Time to reset the router! Want to relax and watch a streaming service? Time to reset it again! I’ve had to reset this router in order to get the wifi back on nearly every single day after purchasing this piece of garbage. Totally unreliable and I can’t recommend enough choosing a different router instead.

The reason to buy this router was to replace the one provide by my internet provider for more range. I live in a 1400 square foot apartment and where the router is located is exactly the other side where my kid room is located. The signal is week with the internet provider and weaker with the netgear. I returned the product.

Terrible. Had trouble with the dual bands to begin with. Here it is 1 day outside the Netgear three month warranty support window and it bricked on a firmware upgrade. Junk. $189 out the window. Now I have to play the RMA game. Do. not. buy.

It worked great until the subscription stopped and then nothing worked. The WiFi was not accessible, all devices were not connecting, and it was very frustrating when we were all on devices for school work. It was super frustrating and I needed to return it.

I had NETGEAR - Nighthawk AC1900 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5 Router for 4 years and it drop internet connection very often. I had to manually update latest firmware on this router but this didn't help. I have used Ethernet cable to install this firmware which was recommended by Netgear installation guide but this didn't help. I have used netspot app to monitor the signal strength and internet connection. If you don't believe me then please have a look at Netgear community. Everyone is complaining about Router dropping internet connection. I also have Netgear powerline AV500 range extender and this product is also trash.

    Dreadful router

By all means, if you enjoy rebooting your router at least once a day, then the Nighthawk is the router you need! Nothing like being in the middle of something…work, corresponding, filing out online forms, etc….and having your wifi stop working all because your router needs to be rebooted! Netgear’s utterly unhelpful technicians will do their best to explain how and why you need to reboot your router with the push of a button! Seriously, this router is dreadful.

The AC1900 is a joke after recent firmware "upgrades". I'm glad I waited 6 months to review because it worked fine at first then slowly degraded into randomly disconnecting once every day or two. Hard reboots get it back up and running but it's a P.I.T.A. I have several devices I like to control/monitor remotely and am unable to do so without going home to reboot the disconnected router. I've settled into a routine of rebooting it once a day that helps somewhat and it can be rebooted remotely if you do it before the disconnect occurs. Waste of $150.
