This device sucks
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It keeps rebooting itself ( “initializing firmware”) at random intervals. So you’ll be working and suddenly loose all wireless access. I called Netgear’s tech support 4 times and followed their directions but the problem remains. I looked at other reviews and blog posts and saw this was an issue that many other customers also experience. I am returning this device and getting a stable WiFi router. Can’t afford my WiFi keep going out in the middle of a business video meeting.

Save your money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It stoped communicating with the modem after about a year. Up your budget a little and go with ASUS, has a much better area coverage and less buffering on the same network.

Parental controls Stink
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router may be fast, but if you have kids get a Linksys.. Netgear parental controls are hard to setup and they stink when you do get them setup. I will never buy Netgear again... horrible

Don’t buy this
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do your self a favor and don’t buy this router. I should have listened to the bad reviews. The worst intermittent internet you can imagine. I’m not sure if I got a bad one or if it is a software issue. But it will lose service multiple times each hour and sometimes when you try to reconnect it will tell you wrong password even if you put the right one. Spent over an hour on phone with technical support and the were no help at all. Not there fault just a bad router I guess returned it and went with Linksys and the difference was big linksys much better in my opinion.

Lasted 2 weeks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to improve my wireless signal. They distance was awesome but after 2 weeks it would drop out over and over again and the only thing that would fix it is unplugging everything and doing hard resets. I tried calling customer service and waited on hold for over an hour for help. When they picked up my call I was disconnected. I took it back to BB and bought anothe brand.

Works for awhile
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This worked great for a couple months, now it drops internet frequently. A simple restart fixes it for a couple hours, but the problem is too frustrating. I will be replacing it

Keeps Crashing
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Keeps crashing. Less than a year old. Have factory reset it. Often have to power cycle it to get Wifi devices to connect. It will function for about 15 min then have to do it again. In the process of getting an exchange from Netgear but I am not holding my breath it will be better.

Trash
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.wasted close to 200 dollars on a pile of dog waste. the worst part of this product was the so called "Technical Support" that provide "hardware" checks on something I already did like 5 times when i had issues with this. Don't purchase this product because after 90 days your hard earned money is basically useless. This router only lasted me 6 months.

Disappointed with the product.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Experienced significant difficulty logging into the system for start up. I had to call customer service and even though the rep was very patient and helpful, it took a long time, and may tries, to get it operational.

Replacement required after very short time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.one month after purchasing, it needed to be replaced and since it was beyond Best Buy's return policy of 15 days, we were without a router for over two weeks. You must pay extra if you want it shipped to you without them first receiving the bad unit.

Simply AMAZING... It works when others don't.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simply put..... this Nighthawk Netgear R7000 router is AMAZING. I wasn't really in the market to get a new router as my Linksys E4200 was working pretty good. I was dealing with dropped wifi signals and the fact that my TiVo at the far end of my house was getting 60% wireless signal. Then my friend and colleague texted me that he had purchased this router and was amazed and loved it. I then came on here to BestBuy.com and read the reviews and figured that I'd get one. I don't regret my purchase AT ALL. I knew this router was going to be great the moment I took it out of the box. This router is HEAVY and BUILT WELL. AND.. it has THREE EXTERNAL ANTENNAS that articulate (you can put them in any position). Set up and configuration was a breeze (probably because I'm a computer repair professional, but I think the "average joe" can set it up easily because the instructions are very clear and written in ENGLISH that makes sense! After connecting the router, I went down to the TiVo that was getting 60% and it was now getting 100% ! I thought that this must be a mistake, so I got my wifi signal tester out and sure enough, signal strength at the far end of my house where it once was 60% at best, was now between 99% and 100%. I then went outside, across the street, and was getting 86% where before I got nothing. That was amazing. I've been using this router for about 48 hours and have not had any drops, signal loss.. in short, no problems whatsoever. I only gave it a "good" rating on the price, because, well frankly no one likes paying $199 for a router when they can get it cheaper. This rating is only indicative of the price, not the performance, as I said, no complaints.. AT ALL. HELPFUL HINT: I found something that I want to pass along to everyone. I needed to reboot my router this morning (unplugged) and reconnected. When it rebooted, it lost the "handshake" to the cable modem (IP Address, Gateway info, etc) and thusly, no internet access. So, I rebooted again, and nothing. So I unplugged both cable modem (Arris TM802) and router, waited, and plugged in cable modem, waited for the four green lights, then plugged in router, and waited.... and ... NOTHING. This was perplexing as this is the normal procedure (cable modem first, then router). This time I just unplugged the cable modem and left the Netgear plugged in and working. And when the cable modem came up, the Netgear successfully handshaked and all was right again. SO... if you need to reboot the Netgear, reboot it first, then reboot the cable modem second and you'll be good to go. So... you still reading this? Get out and buy one!! :)

Stopped working after 2 years?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not certain how long routers are programmed to work however, we purchased this item two years ago along with a 2 year protection plan. This has stopped working and now we no longer have protection. In fact, our TV protection plan ended on 6/5/19 and our TV just crashed ....wondering if it's Best Buy products as a whole. #disappointedcustomer

There are better options
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is getting old (released in 2013), and I should have done research before picking it up. For just a little bit more you can get a much faster router. Also difficult to set up.

Constantly Rebooting Itself
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router about a year ago and it started having issues just recently. It is now constantly rebooting itself which causes everyone connected to loose internet connection. This has already been reported by other buyers and no real solutions provided. Even after updating to latest firmware I still have the issue. I have purchased Netgear routers for the last several years and all of them have started having issues about 1 to 1.5 years after purchase. No more. I have switched to Eero mesh system and so far so much better.
