Amazing wireless speed increase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for a new router that would provide faster wireless speeds. I have a 50 Mb Comcast connection that typically provides about 55Mb on devices connected via ethernet, but I was seeing wireless speeds between 5Mb and 10Mb on my wireless devices regardless of distance to the router. I had Dish network at home and the Hopper and Joeys all connect as wired devices. So, there are 6 Dish devices, plus 3 additional ethernet connected devices and ~20 wireless devices at any given time. After doing a fairly deep review of the Linksys AC1900, WRT 1900, and the Nighthawk. I went with the Nighthawk because of the advertised advantages with streaming video and gaming. Setup was easy. I chose manual setup because I wanted to set my wireless channel (using Channel 11 on 2.4Ghz), SSID, and passwords. All other configurations were left at default. Immediately my wireless devices that were connected showed download speeds of over 50Mb. Beautiful and above my expectations. I currently have 25 devices connected to the network in one way or another and am seeing iPad download speeds of 40Mb from rooms away from the router. I will move qualified gaming and streaming devices to the 5.0Ghz band and see if I can improve any more. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this router. It looks amazing and performs beyond my expectations. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Router with no features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this router for a few months. The router has been working with no interruptions which is very important. Once in a while it gets updates which means they are improving the device and that is good but here are the downs: I had to contact the support on the phone and after a decent wait I had a rep with an Indian accent who sounded like has not much understanding of the router! What more frustrating was the poor connection. I have tried to use blocked keyword for certain websites and this feature has been blocking me to book a hotel online and this guy, after a long hold he came back saying he had to do some research was not able to advise me anything but remove the keywords. This router is capable emailing the user a weekly activity report and I have tried long to set this up but could not make it to work so since I had him on the phone I asked him to see if we can make it work and he put me on another hold after 5 minutes of which the hold-music stopped playing so I realized that he hung-up because he never called me back. At the beginning he had asked me to give him another phone number in case we get disconnected. I don't know why he took my number in case we disconnected to call me if he was not going to call me? I do not have time to call again and because I never have time I almost never rate products but I took my time to leave this review for other customers who want a router with all the features it comes with. Apparently while on hold I heard that NETGEAR does not provide phone support if you are beyond your 90 day from the date of purchase. I used ASUS prior to this one and Asus customer support reps know what you are talking about when you have an issue and they helped me on the phone almost after 1 year from purchase. I removed 2 stars for after sale poor customer support, 1 star for the advertised features not working. 1 star for the rep's integrity to promise a call if disconnected but never calling back. I rated it only one star because it is working just like any other routers. As a result; I am not a NETGEAR customer anymore...

Eliminated dead zone in our house
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A tech guy once told use that because of the construction of our house (1950s split level) we would need WiFi extenders to solve the dead zone in the den, which is on the opposite side of the house from the router. We lived with the problem, but when we bought a smart TV for the den we needed a solution, This router is recommended by NYT Wire Cutter site. It solved the problem. No more dead zone. No need for extenders. It was easy to set up. The smart tv is online and streams fine.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because my family and I use WIFI and the internet allot and we have allot of room so I wanted something that has the power and distance for everyone but it seems it couldn't keep up with our everyday use so I traded up for a better router.

Finally a router for the WHOLE house!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried other routers and extenders with no luck. Finally the Netgear Nighthawk gives me wi fi service throughout the house. It certainly makes the internet more convenient for a non-computer literate person. Now to try streaming!

Commerical Grade Router For Your Home!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the Netgear R6300 which was a great router but I wanted something more for my House hold that does a lot of internet based Streaming, Gaming and Commercial Grade tasks. This Router hit the nail on the head with all 3 categories. The Streaming and Gaming aspect was improved thanks to the QoS, Qaulity of Service, Now on some routers this particular feature is a horror show. However on the "Nighthawk" it actually works perfectly. The Router based on Devices decides how to router internet traffic. For instance the Apple TV Streaming Netflix will get priority over an iphone playing candy crush. The Range is Amazing but for the price and the size of the 3 High Gain Antennas I would hope it was. Another Aspect that was very appealing to me was the VPN Capabilities. Now I had been using an old server to accomplish this but I wanted to give the router a try as the features state it can do this. So I Setup the VPN Features which are pretty easy to do if you can read and tested them from a local star bucks to my house and I was able to access all my local resources at home such as other computers shared files, network storage drives and printers. This opens up a lot of possibilities for small business's who are on the road and need to print something to their local office or access an application that access's information on a server to utilize this, to even the guy who's on the road and wants to pull up some inhome security cameras. In Short if your looking for a Router that can take care of all the gaming/ streaming as well as take on some commercial tasks such as the VPN System this is your router!

Wow - What a difference!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My household had been surviving with a lowly N600 router for years. I didn't think the "speed" of the router was all that important because the N600 rated speed was as fast or faster than the cable speed. Wrong. There is apparently a lot more to a router than that. The old one was fine at one time, but today with multiple laptops and cell phones, probably all watching videos, the speed wasn't enough. Videos were jerky. Computers would lose connections. And the printer had to be restarted almost every time someone needed to print. It was very frustrating! I finally gave in to the family's clamor for a new router and I'm glad I did. No more connections drop. No jerky videos. Best of all, we don't have to restart the printer every time there is a Groupon to print! It always stays connected. Who knew that was possible? (The printer was previously and still is wired to the router, not wireless.) All in all, this router was a great investment for a connected household.

Excellent Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.setup was easy. range has been good. signals have been stable. Had to get a newer router due to an increase in speed from the isp. The old Dlink just wasn't stable with higher broadband speeds. This one has handled it very well. Would rate it Highly. Reviews I read were good on this product and the independent ratings i also found comparing routers were also good. These were the main reasons for purchasing this router over others. The 10% off sale was just icing on the cake. Absolutely no regrets.

Expensive, but worth it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was tired of paying Comcast $8/month for using their equipment. I bought the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 and paired it with a Motorola Arris Surfboard SB6183. This router is probably one of the best on the market right now. It's a little expensive but it's worth it. The 5GHz range seems to go much further than my previous router and that one only had 2.4 instead of the dual band. I used to have issues with my Xbox One taking forever to load simple tasks such as my friends list. I always thought it was my Xbox since I get 125Mbps down. Since upgrading to the Nighthawk and SB6183 Surfboard modem, all applications load immediately. The R7000 is DD-WRT capable and is actually one of the more popular routers for using open sourced firmware. No complaints so far.

great dual band router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The NETGEAR - Nighthawk Dual-Band Wireless-AC Router replaced a leased single band router. It is located in the lower level and covers the whole house with no blind spots. It handles multiple devices well.

Finally, reliable wireless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the past 10 years, I've been struggling to get wireless throughout the house. Equipment is in the basement and I have a two-story home. I've used many routers over the years with wireless repeaters/range expanders and at best have had fairly stable network connectivity with weak signals. I use VPN to connect to work and wireless was never quite good enough for that. Frustrated, I decided to give this unit a shot. It flat out works! In the furthest point from the device in the house I am still getting full signal - no repeaters or expanders. I am able to use VPN and everything has been very stable - no issues. I am yanking all of the cat 5 cables and putting them in a drawer. I've also connected my external hard drive I use for backups to the device and that works too (first time out of 4 previous routers that failed to do this). Now everyone in the house can use it. The price is certainly higher than most, but this is a classic case of getting what you pay for.

Great Wireless Wifi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This replaced the Netgear N750. The nighthawk router is super easy to set up. The Netgear Genie enables users to manage their network effectively. I put the Genie on my Sony Tap20 laptop and also on my iPhone. The range/signal on the Nighthawk is awesome. I no longer have to use the netgear adapters at the far corners of my house. If a wireless network that will support multiple users requiring streaming capability and playing online games all at the same time then this router is for you.

Meh. Some good features, weak signal strength
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is supposed to be for "medium to large houses". It doesn't reach the farthest end of our largish house...no stronger a signal than our AT&T gateway. For the money, it should. But if you have no more than a medium-sized house, this thing has some good features, like being able to shut it off at certain hours, which is the reason we bought it. It's not clear to set up though... here's how: go to http://routerlogin.com/index.html login as "admin" with "password" Advanced-Security-set time zone Advanced-Advanced Setup-Wireless settings, select "turn off wireless signal by schedule" and choose your times.

Get it and enjoy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old Netgear router was not up to the multiple devises we now connect via wi-fi. I researched several routers and chose this one. The set up was effortless. All devices now have very fast speeds and downloads. No disconnections at all. I could not be happier with this purchase. Remember, you get what you pay for and while the price may be high for a router, it really delivers.

Best router I've had
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had earlier purchased an Apple AirPort Extreme and thought it was going to be great, but after an hour or so it kept disconnecting and then it would say the password was wrong when reconnecting. Took it back and did some more research and came up with this product. I'm very glad I did. The setup instructions didn't work for me, as I couldn't use the patch cable plugged into the modem's WAN port and the other end into the router's Internet port as instructed. I had to use a regular cat5 cable, plug it into one of the Ethernet ports on the modem, and then plug the other end into the router's Internet port for it to pick up an Internet connection. From there, it was easy sailing. I've connected my smartphones and tablets to the 5Ghz wireless and it is amazingly fast. My desktop and laptop are connected via the normal wireless connection and they are still very fast. The range of this thing is amazing. I have it set up at one end of the house and can go to the other end and still have full strength. Overall, a very good product that I'm really happy with.

One word RANGE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Range and speeds are great. 5Ghz was actually working outside of my house and 2 doors down. Blazing fast menus, only draw back is every setting you change the router has to reboot. Qos is a flaky at this point, I am sure it will be fixed with an firmware update.

fast but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this router for about 4 days now, and though it is faster than my previous router, I had to reboot it after 24 hours. That is some thing I only had to do twice in the whole time I had my old one. Though this is not a huge problem, it is definitely inconvenient. I paid 3 times as much for this device than my last one and would not have expected that kind of issue on a 200 dollar piece of equipment. I do run multiple devices, however 2 or 3 devices at a time should be no issue for a device like this. I hope this is not a continuing issue or I will be taking it back.
