    Found One That Works

At the store, the employee was extremely helpful and recommended a router to buy. After taking that one home and spending all night on phone with internet provider help desk and netgear help desk, we could not get it to work. I exchanged it for this one and it worked right out of the box. Simple set up, no problems. Strong signal. My son can pick our WiFi up at the end of our street now.

The router has great wireless connections with my laptop and phone. The range is unbelievable! I have had this over a year and have never had a problem with it.

with DDWRT (which the newer ones don't support to my knowledge) I was able to set up RADIUS with server 2008 and a VPN server performance and stability are excellent

    Had some issues with Drops

I've had some issues with dropped signals that always seems to happen around the same time at night. The speed I get also slows down then. Not sure if it's a Comcast throttling thing coming through and impacting the router, but it's frustrating. Never had the issue with my WNR3500L. Will stick with it and see how it goes or if a firmware update stabilizes things.

Ive had Qwest for couple of years already and i recently purchase the PS4 and i started to notice a delay. I switched to COX and the rep recommended me to get this router. It is so Fast!.. I always had issues in some areas with my previous router and this one works everywhere. INCLUDING OUTSIDE!.. I was going to get the Apple Airport Extreme and the rep talked me out of it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ROUTER!..

This is the first time ever trying out Netgear products. I previously used Linksys and Buffalo routers. This Netgear AC1900 Nighthawk was very easy to setup. The dual band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi has great range around my 1000 sq. foot house. I’m very satisfied with this Netgear AC1900 Nighthawk router. Very highly recommended!

It is so reliable and so fast that I enjoy reading everything right off my phone. Had it for a year now and been very happy with its service. Unlike the Linksys that gave us so many nightmares. We bought NetGear at Best Buy. The employees there are so helpful. Had NetGear in the past and will be having more NetGear in the future. Thank you to all who made NetGear available to us.

I did a lot of research on routers and saw this one was getting raves. They were right. It is about as perfect a router as you could want. It gave all my wireless devices -- and I have a lot of them -- a tremendous speed boost, and the range is exceptionally large. I couldn't be happier with it.

    Hands down best router ever

I have been relying on my cable modem/router provided by my local cable company as my go to wireless device. After having wireless issues for almost 6 months with over 20 devices connected, I decided to figure out what the problem was. I have been having connection problems, speed drops, wireless signal drops.. basically everything you don't want to happen that ruins your internet experience. I also have a guest house in my backyard where my grandparents live and they rely on the wireless from the house for internet, which is about 200-250 feet away. Did some research and saw this router. Went to Best Buy and bought it. Set up was straight forward. Had to reset the router because it didn't recognize the default password for some reason. After owning for over a month now I can say this is the best router I have ever owned. Never have signal drops. I love running my Xbox One and my Alienware on the 5ghz band and get to interruptions what so ever. Nobody in my neighborhood has a 5ghz network so there is no signal interference. I love the fact that the 2.4ghz and 5ghz run simultaneously. The guest house now receives a full signal off the 2.4ghz band. I have a 50MB internet and I am seeing speeds on wireless that I have never seen before! I am beyond satisfied with this router.

I had a incredibly outdated router and needed something for my wifi hungry household. This router exceeded all my expectations! 5 smartphones, 3 laptops, 2 xbox's and 1 printer regularly on. (it was a nightmare when relitives came over!) I never lag now ... ever! Great buy if you still have a old 2.4Ghz router

    A mixed bag

I picked this over the ASUS 1900 and the equivalent Cisco router for $1 less is the store. I compared all the amenities and they all were the same, and went with the Netgear one to try something new after the Cisco troubles I was having. I got it home and set it all up, even following directions in Netgear forums to tweak things. Well, I currently get a max speed of 1.3Mbps on my desktop running on wifi through 1 wall and the only thing I seem to be able to get decent speeds on is my Xbox, but I went from a moderate NAT to a strict one even with all the ports forwarded and DHCP reservation set up. The *only* way I can correct this is to hook the cable directly into my modem, then I get the 25Mbps I pay for. Funny thing is I have the Arlo Pro cameras by NetGear and even those are hit or miss on signal from this router. 30+ days later with multiple resets & troubleshooting and I'm not having any better luck. Who knows, maybe I got a bad device. However, the app works better than the Cisco one I used on the old one/use at work so that is a plus. The interface using the 192.168.1.1 log-in is easier to use than the Cisco one too, minus a few odd tidbits. Overall, it's not bad because when it works, it works pretty good. And the Chromecast in the same room with this works fine 24/7. I'm still debating on returning this or trying to work through the issues to see if I can figure it out in the end. If you are on the fence about which to buy, all the above is something to consider.

I was having problems with my older wifi router, reaching around my house and dropping out. It had been a top of the line router 5 years ago. So I saw all the write ups about the Nighthawk and we even got one at work and the thing is a beast!! Easy set up, great signal strength, and even makes a good night-light in the office. :-)

OK now but hope you don't need customer service

I think what brings this down to a 3 is so far its range is no better than my 5 year old router was. The speed may technically be faster since it is AC, and that should benefit my iphone 6 plus but not the other components I have at this point. Still using an extender and it seems to vary which has the better range between the 5ghz and 2.4 ghz connections. I did not like my customer service experience with Netgear because their call center is manned from people you can't understand, overseas somewhere, India probably.. Anyway, I think it will be ok, but I did have a hassle setting up the Tivo Premiere, It would not setup until I finally got the WPS to work, otherwise you have to be able to open ports in router... not fun if you don't know what you are doing, and customer service online will charge you if they have to login to your system to fix a 3rd party's product connection. In short, a 20 minute task turned into 5 hours, so that is the main reason I was not amused...

The Best Buy associate I spoke with on this router recommended that it would be a perfect fit for the amount of things in my home that connect to the WiFi, and he was right!! There is easily 5 or 6 things connected to the WiFi at one time and the connection speed is fast, no lagging whatsoever!!!

    Excellent High End Router

I have had this router for a month now and I have found that the hardware specs are by far the best that I have found. And I have had absolutely zero problems with the hardware on this router! Now the problem that I have had is with the Firmware and Software that comes and is recommended for this router. Netgear needs to have a more robust and complete Beta testing in the software and firmware that they issue. In the month that I have had this a version of Firmware has been pulled and it was recommended to downgrade to the previous version of Firmware. And it just seems that they have a hard time getting it right. They are close but it still needs a little work. I would still recommend it to buy if you have the Tech skills and want the best high end router for the money.
