Great for a few months until 5Ghz died
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a router that replaced my R6300. Speeds, specs and features are top notch. I purchased this in October 2014 and was performing as advertised. All my wireless (at least 10) and wired devices were able to connect and get fast internet and intranet connectivity. My wired network consists of Cat6 cables throughout my home. The issue I have with this router is that the 5Ghz band died. The router GUI indicates that it's on but nothing can connect to it. My 802.11 n,ac devices can't even detect it. Currently, the 2G band works, but my speeds definitely have slowed considerably. I've always been a supporter of Netgear routers, owning 6 others, but this one may finally make me switch to something else. For the money, it's great when it works as it should, but after 8 months and degraded performance, I can't recommend it.

Excellent Dual Band Router with AC WIFI
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is one of the best AC router in the market. The LAN speed and WIFI speeds are unbelievable with dd-wrt build. The initial setup is very easy and internet is up and running within 2 mins with netgear stock firmware. I have loaded dd-wrt kong latest build instead of stock firmware to get best of this router for speed / range. My home is around 2800+ square feet with two stories and I had connection issues in 2nd floor with all latest routers in the market. I have cox ultimate internet connection with 150 mbps download / 25 mbps upload speeds. After installing this router with dd-wrt build and few settings change, speed test results are 190+ mbps download and 25+ mbps upload with wired connection. With 2.4Ghz, the speed results are 40+ mbps download and 20+ mbps upload even in the 2nd floor. With 5Ghz, the speed results are 140+ mbps download and 25+mbps upload speeds. I have more than 17 devices connected to this router with wired (using cisco switch) / wireless and all devices are running with full speed for streaming, gaming, VOIP phone etc. I have tried multiple routers ASUS RT-87, Nighthawk X6 Tri-band routers and many hours with support / analysis to get maximum speed are all returned to stores due to firmware bugs. If you have lot time and energy, you can explore these new routers. I would recommend this router to anyone who want high speed WIFI in your home.

Outstanding and modern features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are running an older router, these new models will bring you a jump in performance speed and coverage distance. Security features work well. Recommended BUY if considering a new router or replacing an older one. It is worth spending the price for certain as comparison to more basic routers shows this model to be superior.

Netgear tech support failed to solve my problem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this router running for 1.5 months. I had to call Netgear tech support twice to get it properly set up. I just called again (multiple times as I was cut off twice and wasn't called back, as they promise they will) because of an irksome problem. It remains unresolved. After 2 hours on the phone, most of it on hold, I am fed up and won't call back. Their tech support is pretty useless. I put my Windows 8.1 laptop (purchased Nov2013 so it's not an old machine) to sleep at night. When I wake it in the morning, sometimes the wireless is connected right away, other days it can take 5+ minutes to connect to the 5G network. I have my machine to automatically connect to the 5G network. Why this inconsistency? And why so long to connect, on the days when the connection isn't fast? I have never encountered such problems with this laptop and any other network, or previous laptops and other networks. My laptop is literally next to the router on my desk. So I give this product a middling score.

Great WIFI Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is it. The exact router I have been looking for. I have a very large two story house with the wifi tucked away in the lower corner. We constantly struggle to get a wifi stream to our far end upstairs bedrooms. This router reaches and it is great at regulating the speeds to each device so you don't have a quality fade while numerous people are streaming videos. I would recommend this to anyone. Easy to setup and manage. My only complaint would be the 60 or seconds you wait for a reboot every time you make an internal change on the router but since you won't do that much, it isn't that big of a deal.

Great Router, Saved My Home Network
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router has speed up and increased the range in my home. Couple with High Speed Internet and no everything is seamless. The Genie app has not been as good as advertised but the online software manger makes up for it

Great coverage and speed!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the best router I've used. Great coverage throughout the house (and yard!) and excellent speeds! After years of buying cheap-o routers, I'm glad I invested in something more robust.

Super Fast and Easy Setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got tired of my LinkSys AC1900 stalling and dropping connections. Full coverage in a 3100+ sqft house and blazing fast 5G connection for iPads and iPhones. Have numerous Samsung Smart 3D TVs, 3 iPads, 2 iPhones, laptop, 3 desktops and 4 Smart BlueRay players, plus alarm system and IP Cameras... all connected perfectly and stream internet videos/movies great. Setup was a breeze, but I am well versed in networks so it was easy for me but for a beginner or novice it's basically a plug and play installation. The USB 3.0 port is extremely fast for my central storage drive too.

Netgear Nighthawk r7000
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been reading reviews and on every review forum I find, it appears that this is a known issue that Netgear refuses to deal with and fix. I’ve been an IT System Administrator for over 20 years and I would not buy another Netgear product again after dealing with their support which doesn't admit there is a known problem. I had the Netgear WNDR3400 and never had any trouble with it. I bought the Nighthawk R7000 and for $200 and my experience with other Netgear hardware I thought this unit would be great. The configuration lets you lock down your wireless and looked like an excellent product for the money. I have had nothing but trouble with it. The Nighthawk r7000 is constantly going down. I upgrade firmware and it craps out and I have to redo the configuration. I get up in the morning and no wireless, I have to reboot it. Sometimes it goes down 2-3 times a day. The other day I got up and again no wireless, I rebooted and that didn't fix it. I go into the configuration and it says the wireless is turned off. First time I had this issue and you have to hold the wireless button on the front for about 10 seconds to turn it back on. This is ridicules that this unit has so many issues. Of course it's now out of the 90 warranty and Netgear says as long as the correct lights are on it not a hardware issue so pay us to troubleshoot or fix it yourself. When the device is a lemon, you can't fix that! WELL NOW THAT I’M WRITING THESE REVIEW, ON EVERY SINGLE SITE. I FIND THAT MANY USERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUES I’M HAVING. THEY HAVE ALSO CONTACTED NETGEAR TO NO AVAIL. BOTTOM LINE, BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT.

Good router for money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bandwidth was good, but not exactly what was wanted for online gaming and other internet connected devices. We use a lot of devices and there was not enough bandwidth for everything. If you have only a few devices it would be perfect.

Device works very well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router, switch after a friend recommended that I do this to help my Internet Signal. I was having trouble with my cable supplied router getting a strong signal out of the basement corner of my house. By hooking this up and lifting it up over the top of the basement in my utility room, I now could reach my back yard with a strong signal as well as my added on room that struggled to get a signal. My computer tells me I get the same signal as the wireless signal to my desktop next to the router, approximately 72-75 Mbps. A great tool for extending a network.

I love Netgear but this 1900 has been problematic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is for those reviewers who are looking for a real review on this product. I bought this about a year+ ago and it started out as a great router. Not very many these days come with USB 3.0 and the ability to share an external HDD on your network. WHEN IT WORKS, it's great. I always get disconnects and interruptions when transferring large files to it, never fails. I can be right in front of this router, connected wirelessly 5GHz, and it will have connection problems. Next problem is with my PS4 and Xbox1X. Xbox was okay for a while with a strong enough connection for me to play, but i never really noticed bc i do a lot of single player on it. My PS4 had issues with it though. Again, this PS4 across the room, so i have to use wireless, but has nothing in between the console and router. I always always always get a laggy connection with it. Other problems: - The newest firmware and both firmwares before it (anything past .44) have been absolute trash. I've had to downgrade my firmware for my connections to be less buggy and for my wireless to be seen by devices. - large - It only took 5 months for the wireless antennas in the back to start coming loose and not screwing in properly.

Another winner from Netgear!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect match for my new iMac with 802.11ac tech! Super easy to setup, right out of the box! Seems to maintain outstanding connections to all of my devices. (Two desktops, a laptop, a smartphone) Will be adding a printer and possibly a tablet. I don't game or use Netflix/HULU/etc., but I do heavily surf the web watching videos and downloading apps. So far, this router handles everything with ease. The only thing I don't like are the bright, white LED indicator lights. I wish Netgear had kept the green/yellow/blue LEDs like the WNDR3700 router that I replaced. (Pretty minor flaw-LOL)

Easy set-up and works great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this router after trying the Asus - WirelessAC1900 Dual-Band Gigabit Wireless Router - Black and returning it. The Asus kept dropping the signal to both our laptops. I contacted Asus support and they weren't very helpful. They tried to blame our laptops but, one of them was brand new! I saw that the Netgear Nighthawk had a 4.7 out of 5 stars rating! Plus, it was in the top 3 for both Best Seller and Best Rated. I was going to get the cheaper 1750 model but, that one didn't say it was backwards compatible with wireless N products. The 1900 model works with wireless N products. Hooked it up and downloaded the Netgear Genie on my laptop. Set-up was a breeze. Easily allows you to create accounts for both the 2.4 and 5 GHz signals. Everything (16 items) connected to it without any trouble and kept connected!!! And, the beamforming technology gives everything an "Excellent" connection!!! Works great with all my home automation devices!

NOT for a noob torrrenter
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an EXCELLENT product for power users of Torrents, Video streaming (OUT, not watching), etc. Basically if you use more than 30MBit of bandwidth, this router makes sense to use. However, do NOT expect stellar performance right out of the box. It's not going to happen. With this router you should be able to peg your connection with both Up AND Downstreams and not lose any latency for SSH, Most Games, Web Browsing, VoIP, or Video Streaming (in or out). To get this thing to scream you MUST enable the QoS options within the UI. Without it you're going to be dropping packets all over the place. I have a 50MBit Downstream and 5MBit upstream. I am only able to peg it AND browse the web without getting any pages timing out if QoS is enabled. Without QoS you will notice web pages time out, SSH is slow as freakin molasses, and VoIP calls will drop left and right (IE: skype or Vonage like service). The WiFi connection is not that great although I did not need WiFi since all my devices are wired anyway due to my low latency requirement. Anyone running games will know that latency == lost games. Thus WiFi == Autoloss vs decent players with wired connections. Dont run WiFi no matter what it is if you're a competitive gamer that plays games that suffer from latency issues such as a FPS. RTS games like Warcraft 2 dont care about latency as the game will pause and wait for other low latency players to catch up. Overall I am satisfied with this product, but I can totally see non-technical people bringing this product back complaining about packet loss/slow connections, etc because QoS is disabled by default. I needed a router that could saturate my 50MBit connection without losing any latency. I previously ran a Linux IPTables setup that blows this thing out of the water, but the poor computer died and I wanted to see if todays routers could compete with it (I was very skeptical). This router does a good enough job but it did require some tinkering to get it to shine. My old Linux box is now retired after 13 great years of use as a router :( *Queue up sad song*
