It was very easy to install - ten minutes max.

The range is better than my old Netgear N600 which packed up after two years (it kept dropping the wifi signal). The Nighthawk has a better range than my old router. Surprisingly, unlike the old one, the 2.4 GHz band actually performed better than the 5G, Not sure why this should be the case. Tried to use it to make my USB HP Color Printer 4280 a router printer. This was easy but the MAC to printer function was inconsistent - sometimes, it worked, and other times, the printer could not be found on the network unless I powered down the printer and then turned it on again. Will try it with gaming when my kids get home. I suspect that the Nighthawk will also pack up in a couple of years because of the "heat issue"but we will see. I am treating it like a non-stick pan - buy a medium quality one and then I won't feel so bad if I have to replace it after a couple of years.

I had your standard cable router/modem setup. I game a lot on my consoles and PC. Getting speeds like 10-14 up and 8ish down. Got this router and speeds rocketed up to 100+ Mbps! No problem whatsoever with online gaming, browser speeds are also amazing , streaming and all. I also have it set up downstairs away from my gaming set up and still get great connectivity. 10/10

Just bought the nighthawk and set it up in less than 10 min. My house is about 4000 sq ft, 2 stories. I was using Apple base wireless station, connected to my comcast modem on the 2nd floor. Downstairs, i had the apple express . My average download signal before was about 13 mbps upstairs and about 9 mbps downstairs. Now with the netgear nighthawk is about 3x of what I was gettiing all around the house. We also have 4 wireless users in the house with ipad, phones and roku. Streaming is still excellent with all operating. What can i say - WOW. This is the best wireless router i have ever had . The signal stregth is super, signal penetrates on walls, rooms. This really put the Apple to shame. I highly recommend this particulary for folks who have big homes. Hopefully this unit lasts.

I bought this router after a disappointing Linksys purchase. This product worked out of the box perfectly. I gave it only a four stars because the software interface is old and I think needs updated and the build itself feels not as solid as others ie... plasticky. I get great speeds on wifi and hard wire 150mbps+.

    Excellent Wireless Router

My initial impression of the R7000 after 24hrs is that is has met all my expectations for a top of the line router. I live in a two story house and have anywhere from 5-15 wireless devices using wireless G/N on both 2.4Ghz/5GHz bands. My previous router(Netgear WNDR4000) did not have external antennas so I had issues with speed and disconnects for wireless devices on my network. Enter the R7000. I'm now able to get full signal even in the attic of my house. All my devices are connected and have no issues pulling down max bandwidth during speed tests. I didn't even set up port forwarding to my home voip phone and it was functioning perfectly. The setup process is easy enough that I would buy this for my parents and they could set it up on their own. I'm looking forward to testing out my new mobile voip phones on 802.11AC in the next month. Time will tell if there are any stability issues but so far i'm happy with my purchase and would gladly recommend this router to anyone. Whether you're a beginner or advanced when it comes to networking, this is a solid product.

Easy set up, powerful with Wi-Fi coverage over my 4200 sq Ft home even outside to patio. At 3 year mark I am starting to get frequent intermittent signal drops so shelf life seems to be that time period. This is my second purchase.

I didn't even go in to purchase a new router until charters severs went down a few weeks ago. I thought it might have been my router so I ended up getting this for better and larger wifi signal. After finding out it wasn't my router and that it was charters issue, I ended up keeping this nighthawk because it worked so much better! So easy to use no troubleshooting at all

    Poor warranty

I had this router for about 2 months now. At first it worked great. I really loved the range and the speed with this router. Unfortunately it didn't last. Less than 2 months since I purchased it it started to lock up. Both wired and wireless devices would lose connection. The only way to get it back to work is to power-cycle the router. I have to do this at least once a day. This issue is apparently common. You can find many complaints about this problem online. I tried factory reset several times and flashed the latest firmware twice. It did not help. The worst part is Netgear does not stand behind their products. I was offered a replacement with a refurbished unit. I will not settle for a refurb if i paid almost $200 for a router that lasted 2 months. Not a good deal if you ask me. Also other than paying for the shipping Netgear will charge you additional fee depending on how soon do you need the router back. I understand nothing is perfect and every now and then you may get a bad unit but Netgear should offer a new unit replacement for the first 6 months at least. Even longer for a product that has know reliability issues. I will not buy another Netgear product.

Don't get this for the 5 ghz connection as you'll be let down. Overall great router, the problem is less than a year in and it's constantly dropping the 5 ghz connections. No problem with 2.4. Tried different channels and still didn't help.

Bought this to replace CenturyLink router that went bad. So far this is a much better unit than anything CL could have offered. The Netgear is not on the CL approved router list but I read other people used. It took about five minutes to setup and worked right from the start. Very happy.

As soon as I plugged in my new router, I can definitely tell the difference between my old router which was Linksys, to this one. We can use multiple devices at the same time!! Thank you best buy for a great product!!

    Bad router and bad support

The Netgear Nighthawk R7000 is a worst one. I have this router for about 3 months. At first, the speed was really good but wireless devices kept dropping off and reconnecting. This resulted to an unstable network connection. Netgear then has released multiple firmware update which makes the matter even worse. The latest firmware version V1.0.9.20_1.2.28 has reduced the throughput to 1/6 and sometime even further. My 2.4Ghz speed is 14Mbps while I am standing next to the router. My 5Ghz is about 95Mbps-110Mbps. If you visit Netgear community forum, you will see that people have been complaining about this issue and Netgear seems to just ignore it. Save your money and headache and go for another brand.

Device can handle a larger home with multiple devices easily. Set-up was OK, except for one of my devices. It would be nice if the support was not located in a foreign country. Technician could not understand my issue with one device. (called multiple times) This router is not supported by CenturyLink services so they could not assist either.

My speed test shows it almost tripled my speed. I don't really notice it on my computer though. I was hoping a new net gear router and modem would reach my whole house. It doesn't. I am buying the network extender now. I hope that will help. We also have awful cell phone reception here, I'm hoping it will help that too.

I recently purchased this product not too long ago. Long story short, here's what you'd be looking forward to when considering to buy this Netgear Piece: - Allows you to 'host' multiple ( 3 Total ) SSID's, etc. - GHz/Bandwidth capable to withstand the years to come. - I purchased this at the Best Buy closest to my residence, I don't know about other locations; but, it cost me $193.00 (Plus Tax).

Needed a new router and this had great reviews. It was easy to set-up and quick access to change SSID and access passwords. The home was reconnected in less than 5 minutes. The entire home has a stronger signal and we do not have dead spots. Now we can take our iPads to the outside deck and have much improved signal strength.

For all you with dropped signal on 2.4ghz and 5 ghz. Simple fix...... Don't use this = Firmware Version 1.0.2.194 (All Regions except China) Use this - Firmware Version 1.0.2.164 (North America Only) !!!!!!!! Flash manually from Netgear site!!!!! Fast, the best USB HDD access speed among all Routers. AC works with as advertised. Signal distance is very good.
