Good Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works good and fast. Would have given it 5 stars if not for sometimes needing to be reset. But for the price cannot complain.

Good Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seems to be a great router...but the 90 day tech support is anything but. After installing it the Nighthawk drops internet service for a short time two or three times a day, games loaded better on my old Netgear router. I contacted the tech support at Netgear and was told if I wanted help with anything other than basic installation I had to pay for it. and it was a substantial amount. Between $69.00 and $149.00 depending on the months of coverage I wanted. No not for me I paid enough for the router I feel their 90 days should at least cover start up problems.

Excellent router!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its a really great router. It has a very fast 1 GHz dual core processor, which is very nice. Another great feature this router has is called beamforming technology. You connect your 802.11ac device to this WiFi router, and both the router and that device communicate with each other, the signal stays locked on to that device, which results in full signal bar coverage. Had this router for a week now, everything works great.

Very pleased
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router to replace a older router. I checked on the internet for the best rated wireless routers and pc magazine rated this one as the best for the money. After reading reviews from other retailors and Best Buy I purchased this router and am very pleased with it. Best Buy did do a price match as I found this cheaper on the web from a on line retailor. Install was simple no dvd for install like my old one. I have done speed test and found the speeds to be great.

Very Good Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Router to replace an older router which I had troubles maintaining a connection. This new router installs easily and that thus far the connection is rock solid. The only problem is for some reason on my windows laptop it will not recognize the 5.0 ghz signal. This is a known problem posted on Netgear's support community with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and I have a support ticket pending with Netgear.. The 5.0 ghz signal was recognized on my other (Windows 7) computers and the iphones we have.

Gets the job done
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a D-Link dgl 4500, it served me well but as tech goes I needed an upgrade. Stopped by my local Best Buy, told them what I had (3 cpu's and 3 video game consoles), and the sales rep said he just got a shipment of the r7000's in. At 1st I was looking at the Asus, but the rep said, "why buy a Cadillac when you can get Benz for just a few dollars more." I said okay, and I have no regrets. Streaming is fast, lag is a thing of the past. I'm very happy with my r7000!

bad business ethics
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this router over a year. bought and returned 6 laptops, we kept three.all these laptops had problem connection on R7000, but no problem on linksys 54g and cisco at my business. Spent over 4 hours on phone with Netgear. They couldn't solve it. bought new R7000 and same problem. Just over year ago spent $200 on this router and now they wants me to buy another netgear.

Best I have had!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been the best Wireless Router I've had in awhile, Yes its been around for awhile, but it has a good opensource set of firmware I currently run Tomato on mine and the actual router part of the router works perfectly! WiFi works great too but mostly a wired person here. I do have an AC5400 router from another brand which hands down is better, but for actually being a router this is one of the best out there.

Terrible router when using an Xbox one or 360
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router in hopes that my girlfriend and I could both use our Xbox 360s or Xbox Ones at the same time with having to deal with the frustration of NAT issues or constantly being dropped from game lobbies. Unfortunately the nighthawk is not able to deliver. You can only use port forwarding to resolve the NAT issue on one xbox. The router simple doesn't allow to open two IP addresses so more often or not my xbox would show OPEN while hers is STRICT. I contacted Netgear on this issue but they were no help at all. Sometimes after rebooting both Xboxes and the router both would come up showing an OPEN NAT but even then once in a game lobby (Titanfall, COD, Destiny, Halo or GTA to name a few) we could only play together for maybe 30 minutes before one of us would be disconnected with a network error. I contacted Netgear on this issue as well and once again they were no help. They stated they're aware of the issue but there is no resolution at this time. After going over the netgear forums I found others have this issue as well. Turns out the Nighthawk isn't able to route the same source data to the two xboxes at the same time. Instead it just gets confused on which IP to send the traffic to and as a result one of us will get dropped. I find this unacceptable considering the price of the router. DO NOT BUY THIS ROUTER IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE GAME CONSOLE IN YOUR HOME.

Takes effort not sure if worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded internet speed thus needed a new wireless router. One positive note was the interface was great, I did the direct connection to the wireless router and the interface was very easy to navigate. Tested the range in the house and is really decent for a two story house. Direct wired connection great speed. However when devices connected to the wireless network the speeds are not there (supposed to be 300 Mbps thru my internet provider) and I only get 60 Mbps. My old router is almost doing better than this new one. Attempting to contact vendor for assistance. Saw many posts on vendor website of similiar issues for the past two years with multiple other people. Updated firmware still having issues. I will attempt a few more days with tech support and if it does not improve will return this product.

Headache after a month
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked perfectly for about a Month in a house with a mixture of devices. 1 iPad Air, 1 iPad Air 2, 2 iPhone 6 Plus, MacBook Pro retina, Amazon Fire tv, Samsung Galaxy phone and tablet (room mates), iMac 27' and a lonely toshiba work laptop running Windows 8.1 plus several other devices connected such as a wink hub, nest, and my onkyo receiver connected via Ethernet as well as a netgear readynas. First problem.... Ethernet DHCP stopped working so only wired devices with a static IP can get online. Second problem.... 5ghz network stops working with almost all my devices except the iPad Air 2. Last problem. iPad Air 2 doesn't connect any more to either network. I am over this router in a huge way. Rebooting can sometimes temporarily solve the problem only for it to come back later. Why did it work perfectly and then suddenly stop? Next!

Poor Internet Speeds & weak firmware support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 400Mb connection and was getting only 180Mb "download" speed. Found R7000 firmware - R7000-V1.0.3.24_1.1.20 and now speed is at 424Mb... Now the question is Netgear security or speed?? NETGEAR - fix this flaw in your R7000-V1.0.9.14_1.2.25 firmware release!

Psh Unreal!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an IT professional so far this router is great in the interim until a specific Ubiquiti I want is in stock. Major downside for this router is even simple things such as making an IP address reservation causes the wireless to reboot. How ridiculous!! LOL can't believe how stupid that is

5 GHz band problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 5 GHz band frequently will stop functioning. The radio doesn't drop but there will be no connectivity. This occurs regardless of device connected or proximity. The router needs to be power cycled once often twice to function again. If you do a little searching, you'll see I am not the only person with the problem. Netgear doesn't offer support unless you pay after 6 months and the only solution I've heard of is to downgrade to years old firmware. For security reasons, that's a terrible solution. I keep hoping a new firmware release will finally fix the issue, but I may just need to take the loss and get different router. It will not be a Netgear. When it works, it is great.
