Many appreciate its strong signal and the generally simple setup process, leading to positive experiences with streaming and overall WiFi quality. Fails in All Aspects of it's Job

Truly wretched piece of tech that started to deteriorate days after the 90 day warranty expired. The 5GHz radio died. Multiple times new firmware has broken the device resulting in factory resets and firmware downgrades (always a security risk) Netgear recently forced users onto an app to control the device instead of the traditional web interface. My app won't connect to the router, claiming it has no internet access. Trying to connect via 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net simply times out. The Circle Parental controls blocked websites about medieval weapons but not racist websites. This router is an expensive headache. I regret buying it and will never touch another Netgear product again.

Absolute garbage. If you have any more than 5 devices you want on your wifi find something else. How l anyone can give this thing more than 1 star is beyond me.

The support consists of FAQs. I followed their suggestion for correcting the problem. Didn't work. Tried to email tech support, couldn't do that. I tried chat, that didn't work either. The few FAQs they have, dropping the signal is listed, must be common. It takes a while to get it back on line. It drops it from another lap top and Iphone as well. My 8 year old, $30, router works better and doesn't drop the signal.

    Garbage

The only consistent thing about this router is the way it drops me out of every single online game every five minutes. Tried everything, even installed new firmware on it. I don't know why I even considered going back to Netgear after the last piece of s**t router I had from them. Going back to Asus and staying away from completely underdeveloped AC technology that shouldn't even be available to the public yet.

I am using this router for last 7 years. Most of the features I bought for have been removed by firmware updates gradually. Connecting internet from modem to this router is not straight forward. When connecting with 5 Ghz then the internet has stopped working. This router needs to be factory reset after sometime, which means you have to fix all your smart devices after some interval. Lot of bugs in the firmware. Sometimes it gets challenging to login as admin in to router. I'll try different brand next time. At least for now internet is working for 2.5 Ghz and I am able to connect hard drive to USB 3.

    5ghz drops all the time

I’ve given up on Netgear fixing their issue with the 5ghz bands on this router. It drops all the time and you end up having to use the slower 2.4 ghz. Give it a quick search “r7000 5ghz drops”. Would not recommend to buy.

I bought this router based on great product reviews but like some others I see here I have constant issues with dropped connections. I have to reset this router almost every day due to losing connection with my printer, or to the internet. I have upgraded the firmware but this has been no help. I am past my return window for Best Buy so am now in the market for a new ( non Netgear ) router.

    This router is trash

I have to reset this router about 5 times a day. I bought this on a Monday and the same Friday I want to Return it. I can't get a callback from customer service of tech support. Sometimes all my devices just drop their connections then I have to power cycle it. I haven't tried hardwiring into the router directly but what good is a wifi router that you have to wire into. My previous router was a modem/router combo from Zoom, the plug is broken, its limited to 30% of what i'm paying my ISP for, the antenna are detached and that could hold a more stable connection than the nIgHtHAwk. Do not buy this router, do not acknowledge this trash can as a router.

    Great wi fi, poor DLNA

Well, as far as wifi goes the router does the job. However, when streaming big files over DLNA (with or without Ethernet) I got stuttering video/audio. My NETGEAR N300, which is 4 plus years old, has no problem whatsoever with this. P.S It is also quite a large router make sure you have the space for it.

Great...when it works. Terrible Cust. Service!

Our 2 year old Netgear router froze up during an update, and since it had worked well for a while, I just decided to upgrade to the ACT1900. But, I have had nothing but trouble since. In the 30 days we've owned it, we've had to reboot daily because the wifi would just drop out and nothing would work. After hours of messing with it, and 3 more hours on the phone with tech support, I finally convinced them to replace it, only to find out that I HAVE TO PAY to cover shipping costs for a replacement router that I just bought. Really Netgear? This is TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, and we'll not longer be purchasing any Netgear products.

Router was bad enough, but tech support was worst!

Bought it 3 days ago, installation wasn't that difficult, firmware updated, nothing much to tweaking around. A few hours later, first of a few drop signal,... strike one! Wireless iMacs and iPads installed, no glitches 'til the evening when my kids were complaining online games were too slow, (Comcast subscription 50MBs), rebooted several times. Router back to decent speed... strike 2! A few hours ago, internet was a slow, I called Netgear Tech support, who was rude and impatient!.. but download rate is still slow at 4MBs.. strike 3! It's out. I paid $200 cash for this router, and this is what I have to go through? I returned it at Best Buy and replace it with Asus RT AC68R and cross my fingers. How will it perform? I'll write another review.
