    Terrible

A salesman talked my boyfriend into buying this router. It hasn’t worked properly since we first set it up. We tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but got tired of resetting it all the time. Tried to return it to Best Buy but it was outside their return policy. Told us all we could do was call customer support at NetGear. All they do is tell you to reset it. Ridiculous for how expensive it was. We are looking at buying a new Linksys because he had one before and it’s years old and is now our backup for when the NetGear doesn’t work.

    Drops connection constantly

I don’t know which firmware eventually broke this router, but the 5ghz drops constantly. And Netgear doesn’t offer support past 90 days of purchase. Looking to replace this soon. This thing has been rock solid for a while but has been pretty useless over the past several months.

    Worst router ever!

Terrible product!! 1 star for the 1 year it lasted. I have to reboot this every day now and it’s extremely frustrating working from home. One would think Netgear would make a decent product at this price. Support is obviously not available without paying for it and warranty is done. Save yourself the frustration and money and do not buy!

    DO NOT BUY

After having a cheap $15 router for about 7 years, I thought I would upgrade and purchase a newer, faster router. I chose NETGEAR. Now here I sit after only 13 months, having to buy a new router because the internet port just stopped working. NETGEAR will not do anything to help fix the router and suggested I buy I new one. Conveniently enough for them, their warranty lasts for 12 months. Just in time for them to not do anything. I would not recommend purchasing this hunk of junk that's just gonna randomly roll over and die right after the warranty expires.

    Not reliable.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The WIFI part is pretty good when it works but...... The R7000 deeply flawed. The Ethernet/WIFI part will go off line if pushed and the Ethernet to support is poor and slow. Also the software for configuring the readyshare so that USB drives can be accessed/shared is confusing. Look elsewhere. I would not buy another Netgear router because the software in them is probably similar.

    Continually disconnects from 5ghz network.

Worked fine for a few weeks, then it would continually disconnect from the 5ghz network and connect to the 2.4ghz network. After 3 months of owning it and 4 calls to Netgears tech support, I gave up. I'm tired of spending an hour on the phone everytime I call trying to diagnose this router. I've come to the conclusion that this thing is junk. They're sending me a new one on Monday and I'm immediately heading to Best Buy to exchange it for something else.

    No security menu, without subscription

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

DO NOT BUY This purchase is not for the router, you are buying an opportunity to pay a subscription service, just to access the device menu. You must not buy Netgear Nighthawk routers, or else they will continue this bad business model. *salespeople need to be up front that this router will no longer let you access the basic security settings menu without a paid subscription of at least $69 a year.

    JUNK!!!

I would rate a 0 if that was a possiblity. I am on my third replacement and it still does not work. Level 2 technician told me that it would not work with CenturyLink internet. NetGear pretty much told me oh well. They will not do anything with it. Worst money I have EVER spent in my life. Net Gear support techs accents are so thick that you cannot understand anything they are saying. I was on the phone with them yesterday for 6.5 hours! Still not working and no resolution!!!

Ever since wireless internet became a reality we have used Netgear routers. This router is the worst yet. It continously drops 5G. 5G lasts 1 minute at best before it is gone. When it is working it's not much faster than 2G. We have 1 Gig fiber optic internet coming into the house and using the 5G we get 30 Mbs, 2G gives about 20. This will be our last Netgear product

IT IS NOT SECURE! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

You can not enable HTTPS access to the administration pages, so you are sending the username and password in plain text!!! There is no SSH acces for administration, so it can not be secured that way!!!! Stop producing wireless routers (R7000) that are configured via HTTP!!! This is not secure and passes the username and password in the clear!!!! Wireless router configuration should ONLY be accomplished with a HTTPS or SSH connection!!! I will be returning this router and copying my complaint to review web sites!!!

    Disappointing

I bought this spending more than I wanted to ($189.00), just so I would not have to buy another. A little over a year later, I cannot get more than 5 Mbps from it. I changed carriers still nothing. I changed back to ATT (Spectrum was a nightmare) and increased my speed. only 5 Mbps. I am now hooked up to ATT equipment getting 120 Mbps, but cannot run some of my appliances on their box. Disappointing! No more Netgear for me!!

Works great until you update the app!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Loved this router and the control it gave me on my phone (since I have teens using devices). Then I updated the app (it kept prompting me to do so). That was the end. And trying to get support is impossible. There is literally no help once it's been 90 days since purchase (I've had my router just over 4 months). This is BS. If your updates cause issues, have someone there to help!!

I purchased this Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 in Oct 2017. Now in Dec 2018 after several month of resetting the units we decided to call Netgear for assistance, they reset it and it was good for a few days and again it begin to act up we paid $90 for extended warranty or service contract. Still have problem. I thought I purchased a Cadillac but a got a Yugo instead I will never buy a netgear product again

    Would never recommend

I have had this router for 3 months. It CONSTANTLY disconnects and requires reboot. I have tried factory reset, firmware change and customer service. Upon speaking to customer service she sounded completely clueless. Tried to blame my ISP however when I connected directly to my modem I had no such drops. About the only thing this is good for us a paperweight or a clay pigeon.

    VERY POOR TECH SUPPORT

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Says it is capable of speeds of up to 1.3 GB. I am barely getting .4 GB. Modem was tested and is at 1GB but this router slows it down. Went to the Netgear community to find solutions. None worked. Called tech support and they want to charge me. It would be cheaper to buy a new one, which I plan on doing. I would stay clear of Netgear! I did share my feedback with them and they didn't seem to care.

This is the second nighthawk router I have purchased after the first one failed after about a year of use. I should have taken that as a sign but i3bought a second one and yet again.....After a year of working just fine, the signal now drops constantly. Junk. Please don't buy this thing. It will fail you.

    Was good but now trash

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

actual trash, this router is now useless due to its new app "Nighthawk" It was fine when using Genie but now i have devices disconnected from the wifi and cannot reconnect them due to the nighthawk app being useless and broken. I see they went with the 5th grade programmers at that app to cut expenses. I come here and see this product now on sale and i know why.

Speed test proved this was a dog

Researched at least a dozen websites. All said 5G was slow but still gave the router high marks. This router is ridiculously slow. I don’t even bother with 5G and 2G is so slow we actually thought something was wrong with our devices. Bought new router and did speed tests. This router was a fraction of the other. No idea why this is rated so high. It’s comically slow.
