This is a FANTASTIC ROUTER! The range on both bands is incredible. The speeds (especially on AC) are incredibly fast. Having two USB ports (One being 3.0) is extremely useful. I have read several reviews with complaints being poor coverage and or router self reboots. I have not experienced this at all. However, those problems can possibly be related to the firmware. Even after after I upgraded to Netgear's most recent firmware version for the nighthawk I did not experience any problems. The hardware that makes up the nighthawk is first class, however I do feel Netgear does not have too much confidence in their own firmware. If you are wondering what leads me to this assumption is simple. On Netgear's nighthawk homepage, http://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-routers/R7000.aspx they specifically say open source support is available for this router. I don't believe I have seen any other manufacturer openly state this. Fortunately DD-WRT does have an official firmware version available for the nighthawk with MANY more options than the OEM version. Now I do agree that Netgear's OEM firmware should be just as good or better. But trust me, do NOT let this persuade you into not purchasing this router. Switching over to DD-WRT firmware is very simple and FREE. I have been running firmware Kong 23884M from DD-WRT for a couple of weeks now FLAWLESSLY. This router does carry a hefty price tag, but you won't be disappointed. I'm sure you have experienced at some time or another, in technology high quality does come at a price. Another thing to think about, I upgraded from an ASUS RT-56U router. This was a very good router however the 5.0 band coverage was limited and the router ran VERY HOT. I had to modify the back cover and attach an exhaust fan to dissipate the heat. The nighthawk runs incredibly cooler than Asus routers. Heat is an electronic components worse enemy.

First I researched a lot before I purchased and this was the one I wanted for the amount I was willing to pay. My results are phenomenal as I average 35-45 meg download on the 5G wireless. My wired is even faster. We have about 25 devices on the network wired and wireless which is a lot and most store bought routers will not handle this load for very long without having issues. We have multiple devices streaming plus my office pc is running VPN to work network for VOIP and office work and our iDevices still will get 35mg download tests

Definitely not the cheapest router out there and that's ok, if your looking at something in it's range you're probably not looking at the super cheap option that won't be nearly as powerful. I bought this router cause I needed fast and powerful, and this does both very well. I had just gotten and "upgraded" modem/router from ISP so that my new service would work, 300m/20m, and it was screaming fast as long as I was hardwired. Wireless was only getting 30m. Brought this bad boy home, had it setup and surfing in under 30 min, and my wireless speed jumped to 280m. Also my range is much better, there were parts of my small house I couldn't get wifi, now I get it in the yard.

We needed to upgrade our old Cisco router to a newer model to overcome a hardware imposed 10 Mbps download speed limit over wireless. I selected the Nighthawk AC1900 based on the specs, price point, and previous positive reviews. After several weeks of using it, I find myself quite pleased with our purchase. We're regularly achieving ~90 Mbps, which is close to the bandwidth of our cable modem. The signal strength is excellent throughout our two bedroom condo, and the reliability of the connection during streaming has clearly improved. Router setup was also a breeze using the Netgear Up android app.

This is a great upgrade to your dual band router. Having the wireless g/n, 2.4, and 5g as different networks is fantastic. You can allocate your phones to one, hd tv to another, and leave basic computer access to the normal one, or simply hardware 5 cables. The range was the best impact over my previous router. Setup was a breeze with the app, and it allows you to change passwords and usernames very simply. It is a little pricey, that’s why it only gets 4 stars. The modem router combo is a little less capable, so I bought a better modem to pair with this instead. Overall I would buy this again over a modem router combo, even with the price tag.

This wireless router is a leap and bound improvement over my last one. There is a higher level device but I found it not necessary to pop for an additional $100 bucks. Great distance fo WiFi all around my property and I have a full square acre. Coupled with a new. Modem I can't believe the lighting fast speed! Love this unit! Easy setup, incredible reliability. I've told everyone how awesom this router is.

Needed to cover wireless from basement to 2nd story as well as detached garage. Spoke with BestBuy sales associate and the Netgear Nighthawk was suggested with a Amped Wireless Range Extender to allow coverage to the area with typical weak signal. We are using laptops, tablets, PC, DVD with Netflix and Wii, about 14-16 devices and my older router was maxed and requiring log-in routinely. This combination has eliminated all my issues and speed is excellent. I would recommend both the Netgear Nighthawk and if extended coverage is an issue, the Amped Wireless Range Extender. We have been using this setup for 2 months and completely satisfied with the results.

Upgraded from a 6yr. Old NetGear gigabit wireless n router that had some range issues in or new house. The signal would be very flaky, especially in the front room were I was getting allot of interference from other networks (all of the 2.4GZ channels has atleast one network). The back room is an addition and I had to use another NetGear router (wireless n 150mbs) as a access point to use my chromecast. After quickly setting this up, which was far easier than the older routers. I placed it in the same location as the old router (in the basement on top of an I beam) and never looked back. The beam forming ensures a strong signal anywere in the hose. Also I'm the only 5gz network on my block so that really helps. The biggest surprise was that I no longer need an access point for my back room the nighthawk is going through a 4 course brick wall with no problems, then through 2 more courses to cover my backyard up to the garage (about 30 feet or so). Performance had been great however I can't comment on wireless ac as I don't have any ac equipped devices.also haven't used the USB Ports. But it did solve my biggest wifi problems so I'm satisfied. I did have a little trouble setting up my chromecasts, but that's due to using the 5gz network on my phone and the chromecast only supporting 2.4gz. Do the setup on the 2.4 then switch back to 5gz and you'll have no problems.

My computer(s) are in an upstairs 'office' connected to my Xfinity cable connected to my Arris SB6183 600 series modem, that in turn is linked to my Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 model R7000 router. In addition to mobile & laptop WiFi connections, this home WiFi system feeds a downstairs Samsung TV that requires WiFi for connections to Netflix, YouTube, and more. My PREVIOUS Arris N300 / model SBG6580 modem/router did NOT have a reliable WiFi signal through the house, even with a TP-LINK WiFi Extender. The new Netgear system is MUCH stronger, faster, and reliable. It cost a bit more to get some serious hardware, and I'm glad I did.

Recommended by Magnolia rep Shakira N. in Norwalk store. At first I was hesitant bc of the price (there are pricier routers). Decided to splurge since I was going all out (4K SUHD, Sound Bar, Subwoofer, expensive cables, etc.). Worth the money! Internet speed throughout the house has improved and no lag while all members of the house are online. Trust the pros. They work for Magnolia for a reason. Thank you Shakira.

For the price paid I expected a much more reliable product. It did indeed increase the overall performance of my LAN and the QoS of my internet improved greatly under heavy download, but under these conditions I have some instability with streamed content, where it will crash the streaming process, even if I am just letting it load. The size of the device is HUGE, but all the optionals (USB 3.0 port, 3 external antenas, netgear software) are excelent extras that almost makes up for the, not so great, signal strength. I haven't installed a DDWRT in it yet, which I've heard that improves it a lot. Really worth buying, if found for a good price but not worth buying for the usual retail price.

I really love this router. Haven't had any issues with wifi drops. Consistently provides me wifi speed of over 130 Mbps. The range for the wifi is pretty good too. I see at least 3-4 bars in the furthest corner of my apartment. My only complaint is the genie app for the mobile device. Frankly it sucks and isn't even close to the cisco app I had for my older router. One may of course use the web interface to manage their router but who'd do so in this day and age of mobile devices. They should invest in making their genie app more usable to ensure that users are able to fully configure and manage their router without having to bring up a web browser.

Had an initial problem with range -- had to move laptop into home office from elsewhere in the house before it would pick up signal. A computer nerd friend declared it a lemon and suggested taking it back to Best Buy for a replacement. However, the next day, the range extended from anywhere in the house and out to the patio. An initial problem with the antenna posts flopping was solved by positioning each post horizontally, one by one, tightening the bases and then moving them back to recommended positions. Problem Solved! Glad I upgraded from my previous 150 model. What a difference in speed and range.
