This R7000 can run as fast as the the MODEM can do from the service provider, over 100 Mbps. Setup can be done manually or using the NETGEAR genie app to follow. It's a dual band router handling both old 2.4 GHz and new 5 GHz devices. The 2 networks can be set to have the same parameters so both old and new devices can join as 1 network (i.e. a new phone using 5G can print out from an older printer running on 2.4G) Besides serving as a WiFi router, replacing the function of the one from the service provider (potential saving $ from the monthly rental), it can be set to use as a WiFi repeater or others (see specs), so make sure to set it correctly, though the setting page has helpful suggestions guiding to the right direction. There are more to play with in the settings for options such as signal strength, parental control, scheduling, filtering, file sharing... check them out. Beside LEDs at the ports, the unit has a row of LEDs on top indicating the status of it. Some also serve as control button as quick access to turn ON/OFF functions as needed (i.e. turn the WiFi OFF before going to bed to prevent RF radiation effecting on sleep if desired). The worse case, there is a power switch on the backside for cycling the power without getting to the AC adapter. Last but not least, there is an auto firmware update option to set, or login to check it manually to make sure it's up to date.

Excellent router with strong signal and high band rate. This was easy to set up and worked better than I had expected. I have not utilized the cloud features yet.

I recently moved and did not want to pay monthly for the cable modem. So, I walked into my favourite store (Bestbuy).... I wanted to pick up a router-modem combo. The Blue shirt I spoke to recommeneded to get a dedicated modem and dedicated router. At first, my thought was he is just trying to sell two products...But, boy he was right. I bought a Netgear NightHawk 1900 and paired it with a NetGear CM600 Cable modem and it was amazing..... - Netgear’s new iOS app was easy to setup. - All hooked up in 5 mins. - Looks cool with those antennas. - I have a 300 mbps line from Optimum and have around 15 to 17 devices on it. - The covergae is great you dont need a extender for 1400 sqrft house. I live on the 3rd flow and even get connection down in the parking. Speeds you have to see to believe. I constantly get 100 mbps on all my devices most times. Added a image of speedtest i took. Cons: - Have had issues with Netgear once their equipment gets a bit older. I had a N600 Cable modem which worked great for 2 yrs. Then suddenly started dropping connection and had to replace. - Netgear is not known to push firmware updates to older devices...hope they update this for a while. So, have to wait and see how it goes...so good so far!!!!!!!!

I tried a few cheaper options for an AC router before picking up the Nighthawk. Do yourself a favor and buy this outright. Excellent throughput and fantastic range. Handles our multiple tablets, laptops, phones, and media streaming without missing a beat. We have 3 floors (basement to second story), 2400sqft and have great signals on both bands.

This thing is blazing fast and I haven't had any issues with it. Connects all the time with both networks being available. If I am being picking it is a little large and hard to hide away from view but it has a pretty slick design so I am not worried about it. Great price, Great Value, Great Router.

I recently went from a TP-Link 2.4 router to the Nighthawk 7000 (AC1900), and I couldn't be happier with it. I get 24 Gb/sec with ethernet connection and 23.7 - 24 Gb/sec on WiFi. I have a 3500 sq/ft, 2-story ranch home, and it covers the entire home from having the router in one corner of the house. GREAT Range & Speed! I should have bought this a year ago!!

For those looking for fast speeds, long range and reliable connectivity - this is the device for you - has many settings to help optimize data transfer and maintain connectivity - both 2.5 and 5 Ghz channel provide reliable results. With Cloud Sharing now you can attach any external hard drive to the usb port on the back of the router and have mobile access to your files, music and video via the netgear genie app... GOOD BUY!

We bought two other routers before this one. Our router in located in the basement and our bedroom is on the third floor. We needed a router that could give us a strong signal on the third floor without the use of an extender, After buying two (one was an Asus and the other a Netgear) others that didn't cut it, we decided to fork up a little extra cash and buy this one. It gives us the extended range we needed and always provides a string signal. Loving this router!

Wow...where do I start? I want to keep this short and sweet. This router is massive and looks intimidating at first but when you know what's packed inside this is easily forgiven. I get excellent range in my 766 sq ft apartment and I get the full 25mbps speed from my AT&T modem at all times even with multiple devices connected which the modem's internal router was unable to provide. The router UI is easy to navigate and the cherry on top is the intuitive android apps which let's you do a speed test, assess any competing router channels and lists details for every device connected to the network.

I bought this along with the SURFboard SB6141 to replace the Comcast modem/router. It was more than I wanted to spend but after dealing with Comcast and the painfully slow speeds plus paying $8 a month rental I was pretty much fed up. I wrote about the slow speeds in my review of the SURFboard SB6141 but I'll recap; prior to this combo my download and upload speeds were both below 7Mbps. After pairing the SURFboard SB6141 modem and the R7000 my download speed in my first test (wireless) was 73.89Mbps download and 12.15Mbps upload. We have a 2 story home and although it's not located in the best spot (downstairs kinda in the corner of the house) reception is awesome. 83% is the least strength I'm getting at the furthest spot from the router....upstairs at the opposite end of the 2100SF house. Setup was not too bad. I ran into a bit of a problem that was probably my fault. Everything was working fine until I changed the default name and password then I lost my internet connection. I tried everything and finally gave up and hit the reset button. After that everything has worked perfectly. Pairing with other devices, samsung tablet, Kindles, phones, printer, smart tv, has been flawless. Make sure to follow the direction of unplugging your modem and then plugging it back it before connecting to the R7000...if you don't go through this step you may have problems. Can't go wrong with the R7000!

I purchased this router to replace a different Netgear router which had given me many years of loyal service. Setup was a breeze and my network was back up and running within minutes of unboxing it. I like the fact that it can host two wireless networks on the 2.4 GHz band and two wireless networks on the 5 Ghz band. The built-in switch is gigabit as well, so everything is running quite fast.

Only a few months into using the new NETGEAR Nighthawk router, but already seeing, literally seeing a tremendous improvement over TWC's new, latest and greatest wifi router. No issues yet, with all my wireless devices functioning as designed. So far, a great router, for a 2,100 sg/ft, multi level house, with outdoor range.

Love the fact that setup is customizable with ease and third party firmware is not required to adjust more complex items such as power out for WiFi range. The standard setup is easy with a wizard if you choose to use it. Advanced setup opens up almost every aspect of the router for the tech geeks that want to play. I would definitely recommend it to anyone willing to pony up the money. It's features will keep it a viable resource for a long time to come, meaning that I won't need a new one next year to keep up with the standards.

My WiFi was very spotty and dropped within house. I went to Best Buy and was recommended the NETGEAR Nighthawk DualBand Gigabit Router Black R7000-100NAS and it was on sale. Set up was very simple and I was connected in minutes. Range was 2-3 times old router. Router allows wireless hook up of printer and usb storage. I am now able to have all laptops and desktops in house connect and share devices and information. Signal strength constant throughout house. I believe this is a very good router if you have multiple wifi devices.
