The combo modem & router is powerful.. I admit how powerful but I expect better from Netgear ... too much drop from the modem. I have to replace the modem/router 4x times due to the fact it fry our when there is a lightning. The genie app is terrible and you cannot control when you are away. For a big company like Netgear I expect way better then that and it is sad . I had to go and get “ eero mesh that I am very please with and better then orbi also

Definitely get the insurance on this one. It’s expensive and my power went out and this unit fried or something. I was connected to surge protector and nothing else got messed up. Wasn’t even a year old, couldn’t return it either waste of $300+

This modem router was easy to setup, but the software for controlling devices on the network does not really work. For example, if I put restrictions on, I could not go to any websites at all. Also, the range is terrible. I have it wall mounted in the middle of my house and I cannot get signal if more than 30' away.

Modem keeps going down at least once a week and there is no way to remotely reboot it. I have this running 4 camera's and a thermostat at my cottage and by the middle of the week the modem goes out and I have to reboot it when I get there on the weekend. I called support but they can't do anything unless you're there with the product, understandable, but they'll have me reboot it, it comes back up and the case gets closed. Probably my last time buying anything Netgear.

Hi, I have purchased netgear c7800 from walmart and first day it worked properly and after the power outage it started to reboot every 5 minutes. So I have returned the same and purchased same model from Best Buy but again same problem happened.I have tried three devices. I have contacted with netgear support team but they couldn’t solve the issue. Finally I have returned the same to Best Buy and they helped me to buy a new brand Arris SG8300.It is working properly now.

    Awesome Cable Modem Router

Setup - one of the easiest devices I have ever setup. I have COX cable service. Features & Performance: Speed - I have noticed a speed increase compared to my previous DOCSIS 3.0 modem. I am currently using this DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem for Internet only, no Voice service. Range - Previously I needed additional WiFi range extenders in my 2 story home. I am happy to say I don't need those range extenders with this Cable Modem Router. Load - I can also attach many more devices with this cable modem without feeling an impact. I can connect 9-10 computers, 3 WD-TV type devices, 3 Blu-Ray media players, 2 Game consoles, 6 Cell phones (Android & iPhone), 4-5 Tablets. Before I had this device I needed multiple WiFi range extenders not only for range but for load. I am happy to say I can do away with all these range/load extenders now. I would recommended this Cable Modem Router to anyone looking for more Speed, Range, and Bandwidth. I feel this product combines a lot of functionality and provides a lot of value.

I returned this as it didn’t give me enough speed to support my GB internet. So I had to use the provided spectrum modem instead.

Had this for one week and got DDOS numerous of times. Would have internet for 20 minutes then no internet until rebooting the modem. Would not recommend until netgear gets a better firewall.

    Powerful Modem & Router Combo

I recently updated my Xfinity Internet speed to 1G so I need to purchase a new modem/router. I am very pleased that I chose the Nighthawk X4S AC3200 WiFi DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem Router. The modem works great and I am getting speeds over 900 Mbs/s, My set-up was easy and connected to Xfinity's internet very quickly. My entire set up took about 15 in total which included the initial modem boot up. I also like that this router has a easy to use administrator dashboard to manage the router. This router also supports the Genie App which allows you to manage the router from your smartphone. All my devices connect to the router very quickly. Couple of Cons: First, this device is very large. It takes up a lot of space. So it rely stands out in the room. The Led status lights are very bright. So bright in fact that it lights up an entire dark room. The good news here is the web gui lets you turn off the led lights except for the power light. No Qos capabilities, I was not aware of this when I bought this model. I am a bit disappointed that this router does not have this functionality. All in all this is a very solid and capable router/modem. I recommend it highly and if you buy this you will be future proofed for a long time.

Spent nearly $500 on this modem. It never reached speeds anywhere near a gig. ISP blamed the modem, Netgear blamed the ISP. 3 techs later, still slow speeds. Netgear replaces the modem. Still slow speeds. In the end, I'm probably going to buy a new modem. I wish I could find a new ISP.
