Worth the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided to own my own moden versus using the internet companys modem and it was most definitely worth the switch. This modem is very fast, easy to setup, and adds a nice glow effect in the backgrond with the blue lights.

It's tough to review this...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the good: Excellent bandwidth availability. Easily handles all 12 of our devices to connect wirelessly including some hard core gamers in our house. No issues with functionality. Now the bad: O.m.g. What is with the noise on this thing? It is deafening at times! It reminds me of the old dial up internet connecting sounds only this doesn't stop once connected, it goes on and on and on and on FOREVER. I had thought I had a faulty one until I read other reviews on it and found out it's common for these to make noises. My model is 2 years old so I'm hoping the new ones have resolved that issue. I did find if I elevated just the front of the box with something it greatly reduced the noise, but it was impossible to concentrate and work with it on my desk while it was making all that racket! I'm torn about if I'd recommend this. Maybe under certain circumstances like if it was in a secluded room, for sure. But if you have to have it anywhere in the same room you are working or gaming, I'd skip this model and get one that's quiet! You can't beat the range and the connection with it though!

Awesome !!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My previous set up was an R7000 and arris cable modem. I have xfinity and pay for the 250 mbps plan under the old set up I averaged 209mbps. Since the switch I average 295.5 mbps I would say you can beat getting a free 84 ish mbps.

Sometimes Expensive Things Are Worse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review of NETGEAR - Nighthawk X4S Dual-Band AC3200 Router with DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem - Black Date of Purchase: August 24, 2018 Store: 53 Boston Post Rd, Orange, CT 06477 The following review is organized into three sections: overview, final recommendation, and good to know. Skip to final recommendation and good to know to save time. Overview Most experienced Comcast customers know that there are three main parts of an internet bill: basic service, internet speed increase, and modern/router rental. After agreeing to a two-year contract to fix the price of my basic internet services, I decided to purchase my own modern/router the NightHawk C7800-100NAS to eliminate the $11 equipment rental fee. Given the substantial cost, I purchased the $39.99 protective from Best Buy. I decided to select this product for two primary reasons. The first is that the USB port are compatible with external hard drives. By connecting an external hard drive to the NightHawk C7800-100NAS, I could create a wireless, centralized location for storing my files accessible to all computers and laptops in my home. The second reason is because I associated the price of the equipment with quality and longevity. The first few weeks with the NightHawk C7800-100NAS was great. The equipment was not too difficult to setup, and the modern/router seemed to support my smart home well. However, I soon noticed internet outages: my Hue lights would not communicate with my phone, gaming or Netflix disrupted, computer/laptop pages not loading. As time went on, the frequency and difficulty of the outages increased. This required me to hard reset (unplug) the modern/router multiple times a day. In January 2019, the wireless stopped working all together. I called Netgear customer support. After being on the phone for only a few moments, the support representative informed me that my 90 days of complementary phone support had pasted. Furthermore, if I wanted to continue the conversation in would be $69.99 or $99.99 for the year. After saying that I would return the modern/router to the store, the representative offered a little more support that was vague and ineffective. On January 18, 2019, I cashed in my protection plan and exchanged the NightHawk C7800-100NAS. At the recommendation of a Best Buy employee, I traded in my NightHawk C7800-100NAS for the same model new. The Best Buy employee told me my experience was probably a fluke. On January 31, 2019, after experience the same initial minor symptoms as before, I returned the NightHawk C7800-100NAS for a full refund. Final Recommendation While this product has some promising features, the NightHawk C7800-100NAS is not functional. I do not recommend this product. If you do purchase this product, buy the protection! Good to Know Product protection is $39.99. (This money goes to Netgear. They get your money either way!) Product protection does not allow you to get a return, only an exchange. However, after you exchange your NightHawk C7800-100NAS, it is considered a new purchase. You can request a full refund on the exchanged product (not including the $39.99). If you plan to keep it, you will need to purchase a new protection plan. Netgear only provides 90 days of free phone support from your date of purchase. After that it is $69.99-$99.99 per year. Netgear customer support does not appear to be in the US.

Great modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gets the job done flawlessly, was able to handle my internet speeds and wifi had decent range. The only flaw is that there was no support for home phone with it and that is why im giving it a 4 star review instead of 5. For the price you pay for this i would expect it to support home phones as well, specially when my $200 modem does and does everything just as good.

Fast But ~
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was expecting that this model would be just like its older model cable modem routers, the older ones, well, it doesn't take alot to make it work, plug it in, configure the password and you're up and running, this beast was different, once you get to run, it does give you spectacular speeds, no questions on that, however, it took 3-5 calls to Netgear tech support to find out why it kept dropping signal on the hour, every single time, it would drop connection, I would not recommend this to anyone, I ended up replacing and getting the lower model cable modem router (Nighthawk Dual-Band AC1900 ), for some odd reason, I don't know why Netgear would ship out a router that needs configuring of channels just to get it to work, unlike the previous models...
