I bought this based on the strong reviews people gave it. I updgraded from an older linksys that has less than 100mbps throughput. This wasn't my first rodeo with a router set up so I was surprised after I was still unable to get Internet after all the normal troubleshooting steps. I finally relented and called Netgear support. We did most of the same things I tried among other things without any luck. So after about 3 hours messing with it in total, myself and with support, the rep finally declared it defective and told me to return it. Like are you kidding me?! Brand new out of the box. I'm going with another Linksys.

When I purchased this router it coverage was much wider than the size of my two story home. I was still having issues getting a constant strong signal through out first floor of my home. I purchased an wireless extender and now have a strong signal through out my home.

After setting up parental controls using Genie, MANY users are complaining of devices being locked in a bypass account that does not exist. This problem has been going on for months and Netgear remains silent!

I bought this defective router at my local Best Buy. Of course, by the time I wasted time wrangling with Netgear Tech Support, my 15 day Best Buy return window had closed. After two weeks of troubleshooting, Netgear offered to replace the unit only after I boxed it up, shipped it, waited until they confirmed receipt, then, and only then, would they ship out a new router (standard shipping of course). I understand sometimes we get a lemon. But to ask me to jump through hoops for what will likely be two weeks seems out of line for a major tech company that manufactured a defective product. Seems to me they should be making it easier for me to replace the unit, not harder....
