    Outstanding Router

For reference, I am an Infrastructure Architect by profession. Quite often I work from home for the job and for my side business. In addition I have teen age kids who XBOX Live, PS4 Online, stream music / video, surf the web and download all kinds of junk. With that being said, I upgraded my previous Netgear router (6300v2). I was very pleased with the old router and it has served me well for YEARS! finally, it has started showing signs of failing so I decided to replace it. At any given time, I have 4 servers (running Hyper-V - with multiple virtual systems running), 2-4 laptops, 2 desktops, 2 XBOX one system, PS4, 4 -5 android phones and 2 - 3 tablets utilizing the home network. This new router has shown that Netgear still gets it. Super simple setup (I wish the equipment at work was this easy - except it might reduce the need for me **smiling**). The MU-MIMO does an great job of distributing the bandwidth, providing good coverage, and providing a multitude of options. I fully expect to get a good long life out of this router as well. I would highly recommend this to almost everyone.

I've gone through a few routers over the last couple weeks trying to find the best one for my network. Although I will not give a review of each, here's the other routers I've used: Nighthawk AC1900 Nighthawk X6 Onhub Airport Extreme To be honest, they all worked pretty decent for me. No real issues or any of them performing that much better than the other. The thing that set this one apart for me was the specs and features for the price. I struggled with whether I wanted (or needed) a tri band vs this one that splits the streams on the bands. What that means is that it doesn't max out the link rate over 2 streams and does it over 4 instead. So for instance, on the other routers, my link rate on 5GHZ would be 866 Mbps while on this one 433. But that doesn't result in lower speeds just means the router doesn't allocate all the bandwidth to 1 stream. That's good especially when most internet doesn't need a link rate that high. Anyhow, the range on this is good, can stream multiple devices at a time without issue and handles my 14 devices easily. Grab this over the AC1900 since it's a newer.

    Improved coverage

I had an ASUS RT-AC66U router and it was nice when it was new, but never quite got me consistent coverage throughout my 3000 SF two-story house. I have Comcast Blast! and a few feet away from this router I get 175 Mbps. This gets me solid coverage throughout and in the corner on the second floor farthest away from my router I get 130 Mbps. That is plenty of speed for all of our family's needs. We do plenty of streaming and the absolute best thing about this router is that Apple AirPlay now works flawlessly without any hiccups on any of our Apple TVs. I've had this router for 3 months now and have not experienced any problems.

Netgear X4S Router is a WOW

I just replaced my older Linksys router with the Netgear X4S Nighthawk. The X4S is unbelievable. We live in a 2,800 sqft home. The Linksys model had great trouble reaching opposite ends of the house even though it was centrally located in the middle of the house. And I definitely couldn't use 5G wireless because of how weak the signal would be at the furthest points in the house. Enter the X4S. This is truly the most powerful router I've ever owned. Our inside coverage is now great evenwhen using the 5ghz spectrum. As an added bonus, the Netgear application - used to manage the router - is very easy to traverse. All in all, I'm very pleased with this unit.

My previous router was the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 which also worked great. The R7800 is even better. The WIFI range is better for me. It has improved speed and is super dependable. The product build quality is also exceptional.

This router is a powerhouse. It delivers fast and reliable Wi-Fi to multiple devices simultaneously, thanks to MU-MIMO and 4x4 data streaming. It has a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, four Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports, and an eSATA port. It also has a user-friendly web interface and app. This router is worth every penny. good for wifi

I had a 5 year old linksys router that started giving me problems so I upgraded to this about a month ago. It has excellent range and I have had zero issues with streaming AppleTV or PS4. We have about 20 devices in our house consisting of iPhones, iPads, Amazon Echos, Hue Lighting, PS4' and iMacs. So far this has handled everything perfectly.

I read the reviews and like most people I was a bit concerned about the performance. my original Xfinity modem/router went down and I wanted to upgrade speed, dependability and distance range of coverage. I am very pleased to say the set-up was very easy, I split with a Arris Surfboard Model SB6190 modem, which helps the incoming bandwidth of Comcast. Very pleased overall with money spent!

I really enjoyed this router until two weeks ago.

When I bought this router at the end of June, it worked amazingly well. Was getting an increase in speed and performance. About two weeks ago, around Christmas, my LAN objects started losing their connection daily. I'd have to either move them one more port down, or rebooting the router, once I ran out of ports, had to reboot the router anyway. I went online and installed the newest firmware version 1.0.2.40 and hoped for a fix. Next day, connection had been lost again on all LAN connected equipment. Went on, verified the DHCP release was still 24 hours, and hadn't somehow switched to less, it had the correct settings. I tried DHCP Reserving IP addresses, still didn't work. I then bundled it up and went to Best Buy to get a swap. When I went to Geek Squad rep to ask about it, he said he also encountered the issue and it wouldn't be solved by getting a new one, but that I'd have to contact Netgear to get the issue fixed. Well, I go to Netgear's site and find out that 90 days after purchase you have to pay for phone support. I'm not going to pay for support when my router is still in the manufacturer's warranty date. Once I find a router that I find acceptable, I'll be taking this one back. I loved the X4S, but having to pay for support for them on a router that isn't even a year old is ridiculous.

I needed a router that would cover my whole house and this one does. I was hesitant to spend so much on a router but now that I've had time to try it out it's worth it. It gets the signal everywhere and we can be streaming with a number of devices at the same time and it's fast and not glitchy.

Bought this router and a modem to replace the rented Cox combo box. The router is easy to set-up and manage all of our devices. We are now able to surf the Web upstairs which we were not able to get a strong enough signal before. Very happy with this purchase!

I needed to replace a old wireless router that was starting to fail, and also wanted to improve wireless coverage (especially on the 5ghz band) in my house. I keep my router in the basement and the 5g band was useless through most of the house with my old router, but now, even on the second floor of the house I get a good connection. I also like netgear's router administration flexibility. It is easy to just get up and running, but also powerful enough to configure the firewall for your network needs if you are so inclined. Another big selling point for me is the integration of parental controls through openDNS so I can filter my entire network to keep a lot of inappropriate content off my network. This one is a winner!

I just got finished setting up the Netgear Nighthawk X4S. All I can say is.....WOW. The biggest issue that I wanted resolved was coverage over my entire house. I live in a 2700 sq ft house and previously I had an Apple Airport Express + TWO range extenders + a power line. With this new router, every square inch of my house is covered with 100% signal strength EVERYWHERE. I could not even believe it. No more range extenders and power lines. Will update my review after a few weeks of using it, but the initial reaction is awesome.

I bought this over 6 years ago and it has worked flawless. Great range on it as well. I am about to retire it as I am finding this past couple months I am having to restart which is unusual. And not good for a son that like to game with friends in his small alotted time after homework. 6 years though is great without a hitch.

This thing is totally worth every penny. I usually don't leave reviews but router has me so happy, I just had to. I'm no tech guru so I wont go into specifics but if your in need of a router, don't hesitate purchasing this one. I do a lot of gaming and streaming and my old router just couldn't keep up. Sometimes my house will have 3 tvs steaming Netflix and hulu while I'm on PS4 gaming which leaves my network just crying for help. Nighthawk handles it all now. Of course my isp is pretty awesome too but I wasent getting the full potential until now. Its as simple as plug and play.
