To get the negative out of the way first - had to call customer support due to a setting being off which I never would have figured out on my own but customer support was great. Now the product is as advertised - strong signal throughout my home which I wasn't getting before. During the covid-19 pandemic, it was imperative to have a strong signal for both my wife and I to work from home. Very happy with the purchase.

The Netgear R8000 Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-Band Gigabit Wireless Router has incredibly powerful hardware and excellent Wi-Fi data rates on the 5Ghz frequency band. The router can also function as a NAS when coupled with an external hard drive.

After testing Apple Airport, Netgear Nighthawk x4 and Google's OnHub, the X6 blows them all way on signal strength. not even close. Every corner of my old house is bathed in wifi now, with no need for repeaters. The Netgear Genie app is apocalyptically awful, but the web interface is clear, easy and contains tons of advanced options. Don't even install the app. Just don't. VPN was easy to set up. Security was easy to set up. File sharing was easy to set up. Having trouble with static IP reservations, I wonder if it only works for wired connections?
