It was a little better than my ten year old router but I still couldn't get wifi signal in every corner of my house! The speed was not as fast as I expected! Just slightly better than the old one!

Best Router I've had so far

I've had about 3 or 4 routers this year and this one by far blows the rest out the water. The previous routers all failed after exceeding about 5-7 constant devices utilizing the network resources. My network consists of many devices which include 2 network storage drives, smart Tvs, cell phones, tablets, PoE, and much more. Since installing this router I have not had a single issue. I would stream services on my tablet and Apple TV with the old routers and they would freeze periodically. It wasn't my download speed either. Since installing this router, I have not had an issue with streaming. I do like the qos feature as it allows me to define the allowed bandwidth per device. That is important the more devices you add. It's pricey but it's definitely the right choice! I wasn't a netgear fan however this device is solid.

Supposedly a 1 gig router, my fiber optic comes in at just under a gig, but the router buffers it down to a little more than half that about 600mps! Quite the letdown

Only get 2 bars on my wireless when I am about 30 feet away. Also, it keeps disconnecting from my iphone and well as other family members with their iphones when we are about 25 feet away. Lastly, when we do get disconnected and try to reconnect, it asks for the password and keeps saying incorrect password. Usually on the third or fourth attempt it accepts the password. Would have returned it, but I was past the return date. Not worth it

I really wanted to love this router

I am coming from an Asus rt-n66. I was very pleased with its performance until I had a problem connecting to it. So, off I went to Best Buy and purchased the state of the art router. First of all, the coverage is awesome throughout the house. I did not realize how awesome it was until I used the meter to measure the signal strength and throughput. After the 3rd day, I got home and the wife was upset. The 2.4 channel went down. It was down for about 3 hours and magically restored itself. I tried everything to revive it during those 3 hours but nothing worked. I tried rebooting the router, re-flashing the firmware, changing channels. Both of the 5 bands were fine along with the hardwire connections, it was just the one 2.4 that was the problem. The next day, i called Tech Support and they walked me through some things. It was solid for about 6 hours and started to hiccup. This time it was temporary and would only be down for about 1 minute at a time. Last night, it kept going up and down. This was mainly the Apple equipment. My Android phone and PC's were fine. So, at this point, I have only had the router for 6 days and I was done. I have since plugged in my old router. It is zippy fast but the coverage is nowhere as great as the Netgear. I really wanted to love this router.

Works well as long as I’m close to it. But I feel like it should have a larger range.

    Crap router and customer service

Well where should I begin. Bought this router thinking it would have great features on it. Should have listened to the best buy employee and picked up another brand they recommended. The router stopped working 6 weeks after purchase. Netgear stated it was a bad unit and sent another one which was used. That one stopped working as well. There customer service rep could fix the problem only if I paid them 100 fee to fix router software. Since then it has worked ok, but not worth the cost.

It took over 3 hours of support time to get this installed. Don't know if is the router or a Windows 10 problem. Still can't get wireless printer to work, had to hook to Ethernet.

Worst company besides AT&T I've ever dealt with

When the router works it's pretty good. Their setup app is AWFUL and even the browser UI is terrible...But anyone who thought Netgear was a great company is dead wrong. They recently sent out a firmware update to my router which makes staying connected to my expensive Netgear Nighthawk EX R8000 Range Extender impossible. What's worse, they only give you free tech support for 90 days. You want them to help you beyond that? Pay for it...Also if you have an issue you can open a warranty claim but you have to call in to their tech support within 24 hours after opening the support case and they have LEGENDARY wait times and then when you get someone on the phone the call "disconnects" If you don't play their game, they cancel the warranty request...This company is garbage and they should be sued. NEVER EVER buy Netgear

The nighthawk router was meh. I had it for a year and traded it in for the linksys hub and spike router. The nighthawk just didn’t deliver as advertised.

Very good value for the price. Great for watching regular TV. Live action isn't as good because of low refresh rate. 55" UHD for $399. Hard to beat for 2nd/bedroom TV.

This router is awkward with the tabs that fold up. Also, the bottom is not flat, so it doesn't sit stable on top of surface. I have to keep resetting it.
