I was expecting a whole lot more from this. My internet will still lag if my teenagers are on their games. I don't know if its worth the extra money.

    Constant Reboots required

Bought this unit ONE YEAR ago. Ironicly I am writing this and today is 2/16/2020 and I bought it 2/16/2019. Seems like longer with all the reboots. I've been resetting this device for months and finally got fed up and purchased another wifi device last week. I work with computers and wifi for a living. This unit has all the up to date firmware. At a minimum every two weeks this unit would start dropping my 2.4Ghz connections followed there after by my 5Ghz connections. Once rebooted they would reconnect. Few days to a few weeks later they would drop again. Sometimes all at once. Sometimes the reboot wouldn't work so we'd reboot again and it would come up. I have NEVER had a router fail so quickly. I expected so much more from a $300 router. If you are thinking of buying this spend the same amount and get a business grade router. You'll thank me.

Bought this EXPENSIVE item for my office. It failed completely just over a year. 90 day warranty for an almost 300.00 item doesn't work for me.

Not as good as I thought. The range is poor but if you're close it's fast. At least that is my experience.

I bought this router as an upgrade fo the Nightwawk AC1900 believing that the Tri-Band capabilities would help with the number of connected devices I have in my home. To the contrary it has been a far worse router from a connectivity standpoint. We get little to no signal in a upstairs bedroom where we had previously had no trouble at all. I've always owned Netgear routers and this is the first one to date that has disappointed.

Don't know if it was worth $300. It's okay. Still have moderate connections in a one floor apartment 2 bedrooms. Could have bought a cheaper router.

Was hoping this would provide better coverage but has not shown to be so with wifi disconnects and lags in speed over an older Netgear N600.

With all the great reviews and promise of super speeds this router is a huge let down. As an advanced tech savvy person I tried everything to get this router to work correctly. Speeds would be great on 5G then drop to 5-10Mb/s. Speeds on 2.4G are very fast as they should be but with the poor 5G performance the router is just junk compared to my old R6300.

    Horrible Speed Throttling

I purchased this router and I eventually upgraded my internet service to 1000Mbps, gigabit speed. After verifying speeds with different speed test sites and having Xfinity Comcast Technicians coming to my home on several occasions I found out the slow speeds I was getting was coming from the router! Want the proof, here it goes, so I connected another WiFi router (a Linksys AC 5000) to my modem and used it for 24 hours. Once connected I did numerous speed test and the speeds were astronomical, my cpu down speed was over 800 Mbps and my devices such as my MacBook Pro was over 550 Mbps download speed. So I hooked this crappy X6 R8000 back to my modem and after several speed test and my cpu speed was under 350 Mbps down and my MacBook Pro was under 300 Mbps download speed. So there’s the proof, the overpriced hype of speed DOES NOT give the speeds it marketed to be! Steer clear of the nice futuristic Tesla look because underneath the hood it’s a Chevy Spark engine. Netgear got my money and now they’re laughing at me!

Horrible product with terrible Customer Service

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I bought my first Netgear router several months ago and began having issues with it within a month or two. To late to return it. After just dealing with it for awhile, I finally lost all patience when it would drop the internet and contacted Netgear. Let's just say that this has not been a pleasant experience to work within the warranty restrictions. I finally was sent a replacement router after having to send the old, defective one back to Netgear. After opening up the box of my refurbished router I found that I didn't receive a power cord. After calling Customer Support yet again I was told I would have to buy a new one myself because I wasn't supposed to send the old cord back with the other router. This wasn't told to me in any way. Supposedly I was to be told this on their website when setting up the return. If only their website had worked and had told me this information beforehand. Again, I don't know about anyone else, but I would not purchase a Netgear product if I were you. Just keeping everyone in the "know". Does anyone want to buy a refurbished router without a power cord? #Netgear #Nighthawk #NetgearSUCKS

Very strong signal, only problem even after the second replacement. Internet keeps dropping out every 5 minutes to 60 minutes, It takes the router 2-3 minutes minimum for the internet to come back online each time. If you buy this Nighthawk X6 AC3200 I would get the 2 year replacement protection plan.

I had really high hopes for this but ultimately its been incredibly difficult to use and depend on for anything other than 100/100 on a GIGABIT FIBER CONNECTION and Circle Family. Thats the only reason we havent cut our losses and got rid of it - that and holding out that a firmware update will miraculously unclog our wifi.

Did much comparison shopping to extend the wi-fi connectivity for our family. Upon trying to set up, was connected to supposedly "Geek Squad Assistance" to find they asked for remote access to our computer and then tried to say we had so many "mal-ware hack" viruses that this setup not possible until we allowed continued remote access as well as password info. We immediately cancelled call and product still in its box.

It's very fast and user friendly. Although the router just died on me 2 years later with a plastic burning smell. Thanks to a 1 year warranty I now have a very fast paper weight. I'm not too happy with Netgear about this. Maybe try making your products reliable too.

This router came recommended from a tech at my ISP. Hooked up and saw some speed gains. Also liked the smart connect that automatically managed the tri-band connection for devices. Only problem was that it would not stay connected. Lost wifi connection with devices often. Returned and trying a mesh option.
