    Slow wired & WiFi speeds

I have Verizon Fios gigabit service. Prior to purchasing this router I averaged 920Mbps down and 820 Mbps up. This router didn’t come close. After spending days searching for solutions and countless factory resets, this router is a lost cause. I’m only getting 200-400Mbps down and 200-320 Mbps up on a wired connection. Wireless speeds are no better. I discovered lots of similar stories in the Netgear forums when it comes to Nighthawk products. This router is going back ASAP.

    Inconsistent Speeds & Dropped Wi-Fi

I had to call Netgear support during my limited support period they supplied with the router. After a 45 minute phone call they could not fix the issue and I was told to install OLD firmware on the router. I was getting speeds as low as 15MB on a wired connection when my internet is 400MB. Now my wi-fi connections randomly stop working. I have to reboot this router multiple times a week. I've had nothing but issues with this router. Now I'm stuck with this expensive paperweight of a router.

As an experienced router user (I have had used more than a dozen different routers over the years). I don't know why my unit behaved this way but my brand new unit would not allow me to log in. It does so even after resetting to factory default. It made no sense that I could not log in to a brand new router. It was useless. I had to return mine. Would have been nice if it worked.

    Worst router ever bought

I bought this router almost a year back . It’s a nightmare . Signals keeps falling . I have to reset and restart my router on a monthly basis and still it doesn’t connect all my devices (I have about a dozen smart switches , few laptops , tablets , Alexa , google, etc) . After restarts it would randomly connect to few devices and others wouldn’t connect also . No help from customer service . Worst possible customer service . The issues started almost after 1 month of purchase . They mentioned they will send a new router still waiting ... I had Cisco router before that which lasted me for 10 years and this router I paid $249.99 and haven’t got any value for money .

After checking out the reviews on cnet.com, i thought i finally found the a replacement for my Belkin N150. Turned out the set-up was not as easy as a plug and play. After returning the first one (The Customer rep. at NETGEAR thought it might be a lemon and i should return it) and getting another, the connection would not work with my optimum cable line. The internet worked after more than an hour trouble-shooting and until the day i returned it we could not get the wireless connection. Finally i met a Bestbuy customer rep. who told me, that i should register each electronic equipment manually and it should work. After paying almost $300 for the item, it shouldn't be this difficult in getting the thing to work.

I have 1gbps internet and I did not find any difference in the speed I get with this router and the spectrum router I have. I live in apartment, probably this router will be helpful if you have multiple floors. Else buying this won't add any value for competitive gamers or streaming.

The strength of the router is fine, but quickly deteriorates as you move out of it's line of site.
