    Dissappointed with this model

Not impressed. I have had this machine for over a year. I have two smart TV's, 2 laptops, 2 Alexa's, and a handful of portable devices. I cannot keep it connected to any of the above, for more than a few weeks at a time. Netgear says turn it off and let it reset. Why should I do this every two to three weeks? Every time it shuts off, we have reset all the passwords, on every device. The signal does not reach all of the house or the yard. It vascellates between the 2.4 and 5.1 signal bands constantly. I will be replacing this with a much more economical booster in the near future. I usually find Netgear to be reliable, but not this model.

Purchased in July 2020...luckily with a 2-year Geek Squad plan. Today it has a blinking orange "internet" light and I have no wi-fi. Will be returning it today for a replacement. Pretty expensive product to last just 9 months.

The router worked ok at first. Nothing special. 6 months later the internet connection part stopped working. There is a 1 yr warranty but it is hardware only. The X6 AC4000 stopped after 1 day. No more Netgear for me.

    Buy something better

We bought this router a little over a year ago. Recently, the router started losing the connections rather frequently. Even with an extender put on this router, it had a hard time connecting. We have multiple devices (10+) that we connect to and an employee told us it would handle the load. I’m sorry, it failed miserably especially on the lower spectrum of bandwidth on devices made for the lower bandwidth. It just couldn’t or wouldn’t keep the connections. I’m done with Netgear after this expensive piece of junk. Do research and find a much better more reliable router for your money.

I tried this "advanced" router and should have known better. It is not stable, one minute 50 Mbps the next no usable internet. It got so bad I had to go back to my older outdated router. Don't spend that much money on this router.

    Great at First Week Only

Great reviews for this wireless router, but unfortunately it worked perfectly only for 1 week. Second week, it started to drop internet access for all the 2.4GHz items such as Amazon Echos, Dots, Wemo devices. Resetting to factory settings, even changing the to different DHCP from default 192.168.x.x to 10.0.x.x did not help. Internet access still dropped. Rebooting the device helped for a few hours then all the devices would loose access again. Firmware update was useless. 5GHz worked fine though. Go figure. After all the frustration, i just returned it and put my trusty old Apple Extreme back to good use. I’ll wait for the next round of WiFi-6 “ax” variants, which should be available in about 1-2 years.

Based on the other reviews, as well as me getting this at a really good sale price, I had high hopes for this router. However, it turned into a disappointment. Even after several steps and customization using their net gear router interface, the overall performance was not at all any better than my stock AT&T modem/router combo. Additionally, the range of this router was worse than what I got from my stock modem/router as well. Finally, the UI that’s used for setting up the router also looks pretty dated. I wanted to love this router, based on the many positive reviews about it. But I just can’t bring myself to even do so, based on the negative experience I had with it
