Disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hotshot router no faster than my old cheap Linksys. Netgear support is terrible. Outsourced to foreign countries and they have to call you back. Will try to charge you for setup support.

Too many drops . Multiple restarts
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Started great but within a couple of days , suddenly drops connection speeds drastically from 50s, 60s MBPS to 1s and 2s seriously. Restarted numerours times , sometimes even 4-5 times a day.

Expensive router with the same issues at $30 rtrs.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bough in mid-2017. After 9 months of use, I can say the following: Any deviation in router configuration from default seems to result in connectivity and latency issues. No logs to be had, but bypassing straight to modem, and resetting to factory validates the issue. Netgear support on expensive product is the same as their cheapest product - so buyer beware. You get a year of hw warranty but you can't replace it if it fails after 90 days unless you subscribe and pay more money for tech support.

No boost in signal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a large house with solid walls, I was told by an associate that if this router didn’t improve my signal I would need a mesh router. Return this today.

Might be defective...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks great and acts like it’s working great but when it comes to broadcasting WiFi speeds are much slower than they should be and constant speeds in signal shift. Don’t know if it’s defective or have it in a bad spot but have moved device a couple times and won’t fix the problem. When I speed test on Netgear app says I’m getting proper speeds but then when I connect any console to it or laptop speeds are crazy slow.

Okay router
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Average router - heats up and needs a base laptop cooling fan to keep it running after a year. Thinking about a mesh router.

Bad warranty and HW failures
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had two of these an both have died by going into a boot loop. One was replaced under warranty and the second died at 22 month out of warranty. Had to eat the $279.99. Never buying another netgear product. Not the only one with this problem. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/X6-R8000-Stuck-in-what-appears-to-be-a-boot-loop/m-p/1972289/highlight/false#M167982

Warranty not honored.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't even have the past 8 months. They white out the warranty. So I can't use the service. This is sad second netgear wi-fi device and the same thang happen. I can't get pass 135 Mps. When I have a 400 plan. That even includes the Cat 5e cable. I can do directly to the modem. But not the router. This is I am planning on switch to a TP or Asus.

Okay Router until Firmware update
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had really high hopes for this router. As soon as they updated the firmware it bottlenecked at the router and gave me super slow speeds wirelessly and wired

No Extended Range
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this due to the promise of whole house coverage! My 8 year old router has better coverage as the signal kept dropping from the Nighthawk while in my sunroom. This will be returned. Plus the instructions said to scan the QR code for easy install yet there was no QR code.

Nightmare
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because it was the best. Unfortunately we haven’t experienced the fast wifi it claims. It is a very technical router. If you want something simple & easy to use, get something else. The slightest adjustment can ruin everything! If your not a computer savvy, this unit may not be for you. Netgear customer service sucks mostly because of the language barrier. May the force be with you..

Did not work well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of these and had nothing but problems setting it up. I called the manufacturer's technical support. They attempted to update firmware, etc. Nothing worked. They told me to take it back and replace it with a different one - that this one had a defect. I replaced it with another - SAME Problem!! Never did get it to work. Took it back and bought a Linksys EA9500. It cost more but the Linksys was EASY to configure and works Great! DO NOT buy this NetGear router. Complete waste of time and money.

Waste of Money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.(R8000) You cannot connect it to the internet modem wirelessly as the older units. so the unit has to be next to the modem, The internet Modem is doing the same job as the new R8000 Night Hawk. The idea was for the R8000 to pick up the signal wirelessly from the internet modem and place it in other area of the house. I don't know what is the point of having such unit if it needs to be attached to the internet cord ? Also, it keeps dropping the signal suddenly. it is simply worthless,

Horrible CX - buyer beware
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At 91 days I unplugged the router to relocate it and it hasnt worked right since. DO NOT BUY any NetGear products it is a con. When you call for support, they are more interested in selling you a service contract for phone support then they are in solving your problems. 100% will never buy NetGear. If they become the only provider left in the world, I will subject myself to use cans on a string b4 buying their products. Buyer beware

Complete trash
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never was able to get this router to work for more than a couple of hours. Completely unstable with my Samsung Ativ 9, seemed to be ok with older equipment though. Installation software is proprietary and poorly written with no way to remove or work around. Tech support is overseas and will speak to you as if you don't have any computer or IT experience, ignores questions and obviously can't solve any product problems without a flow chart. Returned for an Asus, which is an excellent router. STAY AWAY from this paper weight

Don't buy - it stopped working for me within 1yr
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router thinking I'll splurge for a good wifi connection. It worked well for some time, but I started noticing speed drop issues. We also ran into issues with having to perform a hard reset once in a while... Not impressed with this. Though I bought it not too long ago, I can't return it now. I still can't believe I spent so much for such a bad product.

Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned this to the store! This has software issues! Be aware, if you purchase this router. I'm not sure if they will fix it over time but there are major software bugs with this router! I was disappointed because I've always heard good things about nighthawk routers. The design of this router is really cool and the antennas can be arranged in multiple directions.
