The setup of this device was just horrible. This device just took forever to get it working. First it would not connect to the internet, Then the 5Ghz was not working . The password to the router login was not working. The app is horrible and I still cant log on.. No wonder this item was on sale for 159 bucks.. lol

    STAY AWAY!

One star only because I can't do worse. After one month, only one of three bands worked. Got on the phone with Netgear and spent the next four hours going through their "protocols" so they could make sure this was a defective unit. The protocols are as idiotic as anything you can imagine. Changing all manners of settings, unplugging, resetting, reinstalling firmware. On and on and on. Nothing worked. And then to add insult to injury, when they agreed to exchange it, the choice was either send mine back and have no connections until they got around to shipping me a replacement or to pay them a fee to ship one to me before I sent mine in. My entire life, I stayed away from NETGEAR because it really is the Yugo of electronics. I can't believe I let someone talk me into buying this expensive paperweight.

DO NOT BUY! SAVE YOUR MONEY!

I replaced a WRT1900AC with this because it had to be reset often. BIG MISTAKE! this R8000 has the most unstable connection EVER! connects to internet for 15 min and then it "pretends" to be connected the rest of the time although no data transmission exists. I contacted Netgear TWICE and they couldn't resolve the problem. After I challenged the 2nd operator about some silly "fixes" #changing MTU size when I am complaining about DCHP not assigning IP's; also, they are are really hard to understand# he said let me check something and the call just went dead.... He couldn't even help me reset the modem to factory settings, the reset button just doesn't work at all. I know Netgear sometimes browses these site my case # is 24648651. This "brick" is going back to the store today. STEER CLEAR! I am learning NOT to EVER buy products that were just RELEASED, these companies do all they can to capture sells and deliver poor quality products. BACK TO SQUARE 1.....

Very fast AC router, price a little high

Great AC router if you have devices that run on 5G very fast and has good distances reception. Price a little high overall no problems purchased in 2014 and its 2016 only one problem that I can remember had to manually set up the 2.4G for and older device.

    A Proper Router

I upgraded from a AC 1600 Netgear Router and it was good but just didn't cut it. I'm a HUGE gamer and a heavy streamer and now I stream 4K content. I have about 12 WI-Fi connected devices in my small apartment. And many of my friends have told me how much they have recommended this. To really test this router, I had a LAN party with 3 other mates. They brought over their PS4's, their phones, and tablets. With this router, we were able to play Overwatch online with 4 PlayStation 4 systems, 4 phones, and 2 tablets connected at the same time without lagging. I was even able to play Pokemon Go 3 apartment buildings over while still being connected. The only reason I didn't buy the X8 was because my apartment isn't 3500 square feet. Yeah, buy this router.

Not sure if one star was too many...

Purchased this router thinking it would be just what our device happy family needed...the FIRST one I purchased would not install after 1.5 hours of trying to get it to connect I thought I did something wrong during installation so I called Netgear support....after being on hold forever I get someone who sounds like they are overseas with a strong accent trying to help me troubleshoot. After troubleshooting for almost an hour, the Netgear support person says it's a faulty unit and I should take it back. So back to the store I go to exchange the router, I decided that I would get the same one because hey maybe it was a fluke that the unit was faulty. So I get home withy new R8000 and begin the installation process again...same story as before. I took the unit back but this time decided to go with a different brand and I was up and running within 30 minutes with the new Linksys router I purchased. The Netgear wasted a lot of my time...I'm pretty good with installing new electronics or computer software and hardware so this was beyond aggravating for me to have something as simple as installing a router become this difficult.

We were having issues with our router at home. Picked this router up and installed it. Now we don't have issues with multiple equipment being used at the same time. Thank you for the advice.

This router is extremely powerful. The tri-band Wi-Fi helps with my many devices connected to it. The app is extremely helpful for troubleshooting any issues (although there is almost never an issue).

    Love my new router!

I didn't know how much this would improve my WiFi. I bought it because my router was several years old and there seemed to be a lag in the communication between the router and PC. I read the description of the new features: tri-band (I had dual band before), dynamic QoS, Beamforming, Smart Connect, 802.11 ac. My network is faster now. I cannot tell what new feature made it faster, but it is. Websurfing is faster and Netflix streaming video is faster and has a clearer picture. I almost took the router back after doing some research because this router is intended for families that have multiple users with multiple devices, but it works great for me too. Love it!

    Terrible Reliability

I've had to reset this router every 3mos due to slow speeds and poor connection. It would work perfectly and begin to decline to the point of needing factory reset. My Geek Squad coverage expired 2 mos ago. I called to see if there is anything that could be done... Agent Jordan said "the router should not have to be replaced...let's see what we can do." She connected me to Netgear tech support. Some guy with a foreign accent would only help if I purchased Netgear support for $229.99. I'll take my business elsewhere.

The Nighthawk X6 AC3200 was very easy to install. I was hoping it would reach all the way across the house with plaster walls, but it does not. I will have to add a WAP or other device.

Had it setup in about 10 mins that was the great part. Had it going for about a week but It kept dropping the 2.4 channel to the point where I had to reboot the router. Figured I had a bad one, so I went back and replaced it. This time, it wouldn't see the Ethernet interface no matter what and the "Genie" app wouldn't come up and it kept saying that I had no internet even though I did. I exchanged it for a Linksys and had no issues. when it was up and running it was great though super signal. It could've been my network I have a complicated setup.
