I purchased this based on review of having two routers in series, one with standard internet access and the second with serving as my VPN server. The benefits range from superior network stability/performance to being able to encrypt your entire network by tunneling all traffic through the new VPN connection, as well as the ability to create completely multiple segmented WiFi networks. The dd-wrt flashing was seamless and works exceptionally well with no issues to date. Now I protect my streaming on VPN and when I need, I select the VPN network to eliminate any potential prying eyes , hackers and malware. I am very please with this router and configuration.

I had an older nighthawk, which was great as well. it sent my wifi signal downstairs into the basement whereas other routers sent a very weak signal that was unusable for roku tv and ps4. But the old router finally died after 5 years... so I bough this one.. whew, blew the older nighthawk away. I only have 200 down/35 up Mbps service, and although i had that, my older nighthawk would only get about 50 download while in my basement. and 97 down while sitting right next to it. This router gets 200 - 218 download speeds while sitting right next to it, and 170 down in my basement. insane difference.. using the same exact internet provider package. keep in mind that even as i tested this, i have two kids on PS4 and all of our TVs are using roku streaming. Im sure if I had a better internet package I woudl utilize this to the max, but Im just comparing two routers so you see there is a significant difference, even when you don't have gigabyte service. One thing is definitely enable the "smart connect".. this actually sets all bands to the same sid name.. that way you connect everything to the same network and the the router itself will re-arrange devices onto whichever band is the most efficient for that device... which is great for many reasons... one being that you wont overcrowd a band and lag... Previously I would set my TVs upstairs on the 5G so that the kids coudl be on 2G and not interfere with my shows. but 5G doesnt reach so far, so there are those limits... now most of the time you enjoy 5G speeds and if it gets crowded, the router will switch for you. greatest feature.. also the mobile app itself is one of the greatest features. lol. I love the app. super simple and easy. you can rename connected devices and with a touch, disable them... for example... 4:30AM my son is playing PS4 and is VERY loud while Im trying to sleep.. every night i have to tell him to be quiet.. now I dont.. If he wakes me up, i press the button.. and off goes his game wifi... I onoy had to do it for a couple of days,,,, now he just keeps his voice down because he knows If he wakes me... then off it goes and i dont even have to get up out of bed. lol. mean but hey it works... so i love the router, the speeds, my netflix dont buffer anymore.. and yeah this thing looks like a sleek alien spaceship.. so i love it. lol

Was thinking it would be a lot better than the provided router from my ISP. After a week it reset on me and would not let me connect my devices .. had to re do set up which was a pain.. seems like a common issue when I googled it.. overall nice router

Purchased this because of the large number of devices using wireless in our house. With the tri band, the 3G connected products work faster - I've tested it. It also frees up the standard band for the legacy devices. Easy to set up and use, I have no regrets about buying this product. I've already recommended it repeatedly.

This was an upgrade for my family, the previous one worked so well, we wanted the bigger one, as we always have at lease 10 devices hooked into our home at all times, it seems, making us quite the hub.

We were having issues with our internet locking up or kicking us out randomly so we decided to upgrade and this item has changed our connectivity and range dramatically! Haven't had one issue since.

This router has built in fire wall and walks you thru set up if your plugged into your computer during set up! 3 Channels of signal for broadcast and reaches in all parts of my house, thus the upgrade.

I have a 100mb Internet connection and I couldn't take full advantage of it until now. This thing is screaming fast. It's definitely expensive, but it should last at least a couple of years. If you're serious about connectivity in your home you should get it.
