Got it out of the box and was getting 970 at modem, ~780 at the router. Livable loss. 30 days later, the moment I can no longer return it, that speed at the modem is hitting 967 with 300 HARDWIRED into the router. I am getting a third of the speed it should be able to handle. I have now spent 3 hours between "support" and hold. They're technically inept. They read off a script

We had major issues with this router when we tried to add our VOIP phones. There was no way to access the back end to make the necessary changes for the VOIP. As far as providing internet service, it was good but felt sluggish when compared to similar models.

I read a lot of warnings about this router after I purchased it and they were valid concerns. The router dropped connection several times in just a couple weeks-- needing to be restarted. Not worth the problems.

Lose connection constantly and I’m always having to reboot this router multiple times per day. It’s horrible that I’m at the point of buying a new router 8 months later!

I'm disappointed not only with the router but with the staff. This router drops connections, and it does something that I find especially irritating: My iphone will connect to the wifi but not get internet access. If I use the Nighthawk app, it tells me that I've got no internet. If I access the router "on my iphone" via the 192 address it shows that the internet is working fine, and all my other devices are working fine. I've reset my phone, I've reset the router, I've downloaded new software. It just doesn't work.

Worked well for a few months and now it keeps dropping devices. When you try to reconnect the devices they can't find the router's IP address.

It worked correctly the first week. After the first week it started turning the wifi off every day. I had to disconnect the router for one minute and put it back on and it would work again. Very frustrating. Lucky I still had time to return it. Wouldnt recommend it. Read a bunch of people having the same issue online. I had the latest frimware so I dont one what was the causing of the issue.

I bought a unit from BB. I didn't buy their protection plan. First unit died out of the return policy. (16 days) , 2nd unit received as a warranty from NetGear. Unit never worked properly. The power connector was sitting lose. Wireless side works for awhile then quits, then the wire side followed. I like NetGear, but these model seams to be a lemon, imo.

Piece of GARBAGE and HORRIBLE customer service. Works only 12 Months. After that Slow and No WIFI. Always Interrupted - on and off. Spectrum Technician checked everything and confirmed problem with STUPID Nighthawk X6S AC4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 5 Router. Spent around over $300/- for this TRASH. WILL NOT BUY ANY NETGEAR PRODUCTS. Replaced with my 6 year old TP LINK $60/- Router and works fine. Terrible and unprofessional Tec support with no resolution.

QoS shuts off and the only way to get it to work again is to reset the router to factory defaults. Apple devices periodically disconnect from WiFi. USB print share has been discontinued and not a thing for at leat 2 years, but it still gets prominently mentioned on the box. Netgear firmware updates are slow and nonexistent. Lots of vulns have been disclosed recently that Netgear will not patch.

It’s great until you’ve replaced it multiple times in one year. This router will fail on you time and time again. Just give it 3 months before it fails to post a network for no reason. Buy literally anything else if you’re in this price range or spend more money and get the 2 year replacement because you’re definitely going to need it.

I give Best Buy a thumbs up for excellent customer support. The exact opposite can be said for Netgear. Router died the day after I bought it. Best Buy was very helpful and replace the router with a new one with no hassle. I installed the second router and it is exhibiting some of the same symptoms. I sent an email to Netgear support and still have not had a reply. The second one is working, but for how long! I find Netgear's support totally unacceptable.

Reboot causes settings to reset back to factory

Reboot causes settings to reset back to factory default. This is really annoying because the internet will not work until I set up the router again through the app. What is also annoying is that I have to pair my smart devices(chrome cast, google homes, smart lights...etc.) again with once I finish setting up my router. I even use the same network names and passwords before the reboot and I still have to reconnect my smart devices.
