This thing is powerful and is a good choice if you have a lot of space to cover and you're using multiple wireless devices at the same time within your home. My only complaint is that occasionally, it will drop the wi-fi signal and will need to be re-set.

The only thing I’ve noticed and I’m still troubleshooting is that the wireless internet drops on at least one of the channels. Devices are still connected, the router is connected to the internet and passes a speed test, just no internet.

This router is a pile of hot trash. If it were a basic gaming router that you don't need any additional functionality for ($75-$100), it would be fine. And if you don't try to use any of the features and just leave it alone as a basic router, it works about 80% of the time. Don't get me wrong, I've worked in IT and network security, and have bought or demo'ed many higher end routers and access points. I know enough to know a terrible product when I've used it for 6 months. I got this router in June and have really hoped that Netgear would get their support together and that each firmware update might make it fix the huge gaps in functionality. But no joy. The user interface is a non-intuitive, mostly broken mess. The QOS is a joke and doesn't work most of the time. The parental controls are not usable unless you sign up for a third party app that is trash in itself and really requires a paid subscription to be useful - and even then hardly works. The companion Nighthawk app is garbage. It's really just a built in ad platform to try to sell you on additional services - which wouldn't be so bad if the basic functions of the router actually worked, but given how much trouble this router is, I can't imagine that the add-ons would work either. If you're looking for a basic high-speed router and don't care about forwarding ports, QOS, parental controls, basic access control, or even static IP's you're much better off getting something else at a much lower price point - because even though the Netgear Nighthawk X6S AC4000 R8000P is DESIGNED to be able to do all those things, it really DOESN'T. I have spent enough time talking to Netgear support to tell you you'll be disappointed there too. It's a lousy deal for $300+

This is the second AC4000 in my wireless network. This one is used in bridge mode to provide wired Ethernet connections for my home audio system. It provides 4 wired Ethernet ports and supports gigabit speed. Paired with the other AC4000 this combination works great.
