Due to additional streaming requirements in my home, and the fact that I finally “cut the cord,” I Purchased the Netgear nighthawk X6S/AC 4000 tri-band Wi-Fi router. After approx. two weeks, I’m finding that the router has worked well and that all individuals in the house are able to stream according to their needs.

I have optimum and the wireless router provided was horrible. After much research, I decided to get the Nighthawk and couldn’t have been happier. Now me and my three kids can all be working virtually on work/schoolwork and we still have a fast wireless connection.

Very good router. It has two 5ghz bands and one 2.4ghz band for older devices and a longer distance. It is very fast and it should be perfect for every gamer in your home whether they are connected via ethernet cord or via wifi on a mobile device or a console and they don't want to run a cord to the router.

Overall, this router's ok, but nothing better than the lower price routers. I understand, it is 3 bands; however, same range and speed. I returned and exchanged for dual band router save money and get same features except tri-band.

Purchased this as an upgrade from the ISP rent-a-router. Handles all 16 devices easily with plenty of customization options. Easy interface on the pc or app. Can get reliable 5ghz connection where I couldn’t before.

Excellent router. I will say one thing. If you want better speeds......turn off the traffic meter within the app. I used to always have a problem getting wifi in one part of the house......well I have no problem now. I definitely would recommend.

I had NETGEAR routers in the past and like the quality of NETGEAR. I replace my older NETGEAR with a larger and faster router. My internet speed is up from past speeds. Really important factor with all the wifi connections and streaming now a days. Great product and features.

I replaced my R8000 with this R8000P. It's better, but still requires reboot too frequently to maintain wifi connectivity. My next router will not be a Netgear product.

Only reason I’m giving this product a 4 star instead of 5 stars is because I replaced a prior Netgear router for this one that only lasted 13 months. Hopefully this one will last longer. The Netgear Genie app is easy to use and helpful.

I purchased this with the expectation that it would significantly improve connections and bandwith between the many devices. The salesman suggested that I go Tri-Band because it will allow me to dedicate Bands to specific devices. This is great because I can assign visitors to one connection, PCs to another and games to another. Still, I haven't seen a significant change in the performance of any of them, compared to the router supplied by the cable company. Still having buffering issues like before.

I use this router for home use. I hope it lasts longer than the Netgear tri band router it replaced that was only 2 years old. There is little to no help when these routers fail or are not functioning as described.

Bought both a (NETGEAR) modem and router. Since we set up the two devices we have not experienced constant buffering. That is with multiple people on multiple devices all day, all night.

The short version is that this router has inherent issues that impact many users, but the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge this. This leaves the customer with only two options, continue using the product in it's defective state or swallowing the fact that you wasted $250+ dollars on a router and that it's time to move on. I went with the 2nd option after exhausting all pathways to a resolution with Netgear refuses to acknowledge this issue. This router has so many bugs. There is a firmware bug where many customers are stuck on a certain firmware version and can't get off of it. Netgear is no help here if you are outside your return window. I never could get full speeds on LAN (hardwire) with this router and Xfinity Gigabit. As soon as I tried another router, everything worked as it should. This was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent on a router. I will never buy a Netgear product again for as long as I live.

The total for this review just about sums it up. The device does work although I’ve had to reboot it several times. It does have three antennas which are useful for various streaming purposes of: apps, appliances, data, TV. I wish it was a little bit more reliable though it tends to flake out once every couple weeks or if the power goes on and off. Not sure if it’s this particular device or the design in general. I would think that for the price it should be faster (and it connected to fiber optic cable) and more reliable than it is.
