Over priced with too many issues
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to try this router out regardless of the bad reviews I have read all over the internet from those who own it, to netgears admission of firmware issues related to constantly disconnecting and the required downgrade and reboot of modem. I wanted to believe that I wasn't going to have the issues I read about but I have been having more and more issues each and every day. I work from home and bought this router because of its advanced options for creating VLANs, QoS(slowed connections down even worse), MU-MIMO, beamforming, airtime fairness and more. But it just proved to be more frustrating than anything and I cannot wait to return this product today. I tried to downgrade firmware, reboot, and just leave the settings as created by set up. I have tried too many things, I can't have my internet going out every 10 minutes while I am working with patients over telemed. Buyer be aware and move on to something else- product is boo boo.

Nighthawk is a nightmare
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It worked only for one year. I don't know if it was because of an update that was done or this product is designed to stop working after a couple of months, the Internet connection bugs down many times a day and I have to reset it to get reconnected to the Internet again. I don't recommend this, I'm buying a new one but probably it will be from another manufacturer.

Run or Buy Warranty with this
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has probably been the worst Wi-Fi router I've ever purchased. I purchased in Jun 2020 and worked great for about 4 months. Everything started to go south when trying to apply security updates; nothing would successfully install, web or tftp. Then devices stopped connecting and in troubleshooting myself I found the dhcp server is locking up and not providing IPs. Other devices that were connected just drop off. So I have to reboot the router just to get things working again. After searching the web forums for possible fixes and finding nothing I submitted a support ticket with Netgear. Now all I'm getting is the 1-2 day between responses email trickle like pretty much everyone else in forums has complained about. At the time I didn't have the money for the extra BestBuy warranty and so wish I would have gotten it anyway. Spent $300 on this thing about 6 months ago to upgrade my 5yr old Netgear router and basically have an expensive paper weight that requires a daily rebooting to keep things going.

Not what I expected
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Signal drops too often. Used it for gaming and it was much slower than my ISP router. Just not what I expected from something with such powerful innards

Terrible lag spikes. Not as proven as the R8000 X6
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace my R8000 X6. Installation was easy but when I got online to game I had random lag spikes. My ping was literally jumping to 900 and I was rubber banding everywhere. I reconnected my X6 and everything was back to normal. The X6S seems to have a few bugs in it that Netgear needs to work out. The X6 is proven and still works great. I hope this helps someone.

Good Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good router, but it did not solve my problems. Not much change over my older two channel N*tgear router (although it was getting old).

Overpriced junk.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since the first day I bought this router it has cut my wired internet speeds from 970mbs to 400mbs. If I connect straight to my SB8200 I get 950+mbs but if I connect the router then it cuts it substantially. When I first realized I called Netgear and someone helped me fix the issue by resetting everything and it is back to cutting my speeds again and now my 90 day support is up so I can't get Netgear's help any longer. I will be returning this under the product replacement plan I purchased when I bought it and buying something else. I don't have QOS enabled and I am testing my speeds to my desktop through a cat 6 cable. I have tried different cables too and the only thing that makes me get the speeds I'm paying for from Comcast is unhooking this router!

Troublesome
