Costly, But Effective
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is very pricey, but the moment I connected my WiFi, my download stream went from ~120 Mbps to ~980 Mbps, and upload from ~80 Mbps to 300 Mbps. Granted, I currently pay for the Giga streaming, but this is the first time I've ever seen my connection be close to what I actually pay for.

Great Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent choice. This router has made a tremendous difference in the time it takes for multiple devices to access the Internet. We are very pleased with this router and would definitely recommend it to anyone. The price was reasonable and the sales person was very helpful and knowledgeable. You can't go wrong with this router. The only negative would be the size of the router.

Nighthawk router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is a beast and I'm so happy I bought this thing. My router was at least 5 years old and just wasn't cutting it and I learned that you really need to upgrade your router about every 3 years because these things are on 24/7 so they really wear out. This router is expensive but the difference is amazing and totally worth it. If you need internet speed buy this bad boy!

2 Failed units
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On my 3rd unit after 2 units failed within 2 days. Both had a known hardware level affecting the on-board power in some way. This had the net effect of disabling the 2.4GHZ channel, which my security cameras use. I was told that I may have better luck with units made prior to August 2015. My 3rd unit is configured and running strong. These routers are easy to configure. My only complaint at this point is that I currently share 1 wireless printer, and hoped to connect via the ReadyShare USB printer interface. I later realized that this feature is not compatible with Linux. All-in-all I view this as very capable router with plenty of features, and don't hold it against the company for what happened. I will give Netgear high marks for their tech support. They were very professional and capable. I frequently work with tech support to solve industrial automation issues, and was very impressed with the personnel I had on these support calls. Very knowleagable, professional, engaged, persistent. Still happy with my purchase.

Powerful modem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking to upgrade from our Netgear X6. Was looking at the X10, but seen many posts and forums talking negative about the qos function and lack of performance cost wise. So we decided to go with this and are totally happy with the purchase. Signal strength is actually better with the X8 over the X6. Highly recommend this router for gamers or streamers.

Bad Asssss
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router kicks asssss very fast and very strong signal through out my large home. I have full wifi bars all around my home as well as outside. No issues when streaming and running multiple devices at once. It made it feel as if I upgraded my internet from 300gb to 500gb on all my wireless devices. I have had it for a few months and no issues so far. ( knock on wood)

Wi-Fi everywhere!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My original modem/router from Comcast only provided Wi-Fi in the room it was located. Now with the Nighthawk I get Wi-Fi everywhere! Not only do I get Wi-Fi outside of my house and in every single room/floor, but the signal is at full strength! Highly recommend for upgrading any home.

Not as impressive, especially for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to replace my ASUS RT-AC66U Wireless AC1900 Dual-Band Router with the new Netgear Nighthawk X8 AC5300 Tri-Band Quad Stream Wireless AC Router. From reading the specifications and reviews, it should have out performed my ASUS by leaps and bounds. Yes, the performance is a little better, maybe by 20% (at times), but not what was expected. It isn't consistently faster than the ASUS and the range isn't much better than the ASUS as well. I'm thinking that the AC5300 space isn't quite mature enough yet and I would have been better of purchasing something like an ASUS RT-AC3200, saving my money until the AC3500's have had more time in the field. I can't recommend this device at this time, especially due to the cost, but I will see if there are any improvements as patches and firmware upgrades are released.
