WI-FI router crashed, so I needed a replacement. Rather than repeating buying a low end router and then needing to buy extenders, I decided to spend the extra money and get a more powerful unit. The NIghthawk has two bands, which helps spread out the load on my network; I currently have 10+ WI-FI-enabled devices connected at any one time. One of the features I like is that I am able to give both bands the same name and the unit will switch back and forth to find the stronger signal without me having to manually tell the device to use the 2.4 or the 5 GHz band. I'm also getting more coverage throughout my 2 story home, but there are times when the signal will temporarily drop. If 4.5 stars was an option, I would have rated the Nighthawk that, but since it had to be 4 or a 5, I gave it a 4. I would definitely recommend it as well as buy it again myself.

We purchased this router since we were experiencing connectivity problems. We connected everything and it works like a champ. Please note that you may have to call your Internet provider to change the router information in order to get everything to work.

We use the router attached to a Time Warner modem/router. It provides an alternative in home 5G Wi-Fi for our internet. The tv and speakers are fed by the Time Warner modem/router Wi/Fi. It has excellent coverage throughout the house with hi speed.

Router set up in middle of house in my office and provides strong signal in every room and out on the patio. Very easy to set up, even for this low tech dude. Absolute worth every dollar it cost.

If you are tired of your router dumping out or not having enough signal range, then run to the store and pick this one up. It was super simple to set up. The range covers nearly an acre radius and has provided us with many less stressful evenings.

Had internet coverage problems in my home, Tried several routers with extenders and still had problems reaching the far end of my house. this is due to the Router has to be located in a closet. Purchased the Nighthawk X8 and this all went away.

The technology is really advancing fast. Great connection speed and distance.

It mostly delivers fast Wi-Fi performance and has outstanding signal stability. The router has six LAN ports (as opposed to four seen in most routers) and has a super-fast wired connection. It's a bit pricey but I believe it is worth every penny

Bought this item on the Thanksgiving sale as my previous wireless router needed replacement. After installing this router, the speed is good and the coverage area also increased. I have got both ground floor/first floor covered very well.

One of the best cable modems I have owned. Great Wi-Fi coverage. We have at least 10 devices connected to it and it shows no strain in internet speed. We use the app to do upgrades and they are easy.

I decided to give it a month before writing a review to see how it worked and I'm glad I did. This is a major improvement over the broadband wifi route Time Warner gave us and we are really happy with it however every so often the 2.4ghz channel disappears and I have to reboot the system. For some this might not be an issue but where I have a lot of devices that are only 2.4ghz connected devices such as my Hue bulbs, Nest drop cameras, sonos speakers etc. I did put the X8 on it's own 10 minute battery backup power strip thinking it may be related to fluctuations in power but it has still happened once or twice since adding the power strip. If it keeps happening I'll likely take it back and swap it for a replacement. Given that everything else still works as advertised and I do like the speeds I would still recommend this device.

I received my R8500 from NETGEAR as part of a review and test program. Setup: Very easy setup compared to my older router. Easy to follow step-by-step instructions included. Not much of a setup time required. Features: The R8500 has 3 multiple bandwidths that allow more users to be connected to the router simultaneously without affecting the speed much. If you have a big family with multiple devices each, this feature is key to maintaining a fast wireless connection. If you have visitors over all the time, guest access can easily be set up through NETGEAR genie. The NETGEAR genie app on my phone is great since it gives me easy access to router/network setup. In terms of range, I get good connection throughout the house and garage. This must be due to the Active antennas. Performance: Overall it seems to have a good range and fast connection. However, I have had to reboot the router several times when the connection is slow. Once the router reboots I regain the fast connection. I am hoping that with the next update, this won’t be an issue. Did product meet your expectation? Besides having to reboot it several times, the router met my expectations. Its new features are great. It would be great if the router could be utilized to its full capabilities. Price-value: At $400, it is pretty pricy. However, you are paying for technology first in its industry. Seems like the router’s technology will last. It could be worth the investment in the long run. Would you recommend to friend or family member? I would recommend it to a friend or family member only if they owned a small business or a big household.

Super fast and great product! We have been able to use phones, laptops, iPads and stream movies and videos with no disruptions. Highly recommended and works great with Comcast Blast Plus.
