Less coverage area
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed increased coverage area. Felt four antenna would make it happen. Did not. Does allow for many devices to work at the same time on different channels with good speed if you are close.

Horrible performance .. Product is dead in 4 mths!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this router based on specs and review. It was relatively easy to setup and get it running. The router started failing over the last 2-weeks and finally completely dead today!!! Purchased on 02/15/16 and dead on 07/18/16 = 5mths 1day! I have been on the phone with NetGear for 31mins and counting....The tech asked me if I have tried plugging the router into another power outlet!!! Seriously!!! I buy a router for $330 US, one would think that I would know how to research and troubleshoot :-( I was told that the hardware has gone bad and needs to be replaced and I am being transferred to another department. That was 20mins ago! I guess there are a lot of people to help turn the unit off and turn it on again. But if you have a hardware failure, then you are SOL!

Great high end router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although the price is pretty high, I was having issues with my old router keeping a signal on constantly. This router has not only stayed on, but has extended my wifi range and can handle the bandwidth of a large family with a lot of devices.

Great Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have this router for two months now, so far the Nighthawk x8 router has out preformed my old linksys router. I get better coverage throughout my house. Setup was a breeze added a external hard drive and printer to the USB ports works great.

Best WIFI Strength
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried numerous Wi-Fi routers and extenders and nothing worked in my 5,000 square-foot house until I got the Nighthawk X8. I can even get service outside in the lawn as I mow my grass.

Enjoyable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have really enjoyed my new router. I never have to wait for it to buffer any more. Netflix and Vudu have really worked great. It does't reach as far as I wanted it to outside but inside it is great. So much better than my old one.

EXCELLENT ! ! ! ! !...Netgear has a ACE Trump Card
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is for: NETGEAR Nighthawk X8 - AC5300 Tri-Band Quad-Stream Gigabit Wi-Fi Router (R8500) Pros: Impressive physical appearance. The 6 LAN ports. Awesome speeds and range. DDNS & VPN, Port Aggregation, Although the initial serious issues I had were beyond the capability of the phone tech support, they were finally escalated to R&D Team in Taiwan([email protected]) who seem to have come out with lots of goodies in the new BETA Firmware which I am currently testing. Cons: LARGE FOOT PRINT....almost as big as 12 inch laptop. A cooling fan would have been a good addition as it gets a little warm. This Netgear X8 AC-5300 seriously needs firmware upgrade. Other Thoughts: This R8500 Netgear X8 AC5300 is a SUPER DUPER router with loads of functionalities to offer. The range and speeds are majestic. The six LAN ports are extremely handy and the port aggregation delivers AWESOME speeds. The DDNS and VPN functionality are very handy to securely access the router from outside the network. I have also coupled this R8500 with Netgear EX7000 as I wanted to keep my other hard wired equipments like Seagate NAS's etc in the remote corner in order to avoid equipment cluster in the living room where the R8500 currently reside. The combination of R8500 along with EX7000 delivers deadly wireless link rates in excess of 900 Mbps even with several walls between them. I have connect QNAP TS-253 Pro directly to R8500 using Port Aggregation. The results again are super fast read and write speeds for my wireless desk top as well as lap tops especially during the data back ups.I have observed Link Rates in excess of 700 Mbps on the iPad Air, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6 Plus. The SMART Connect feature is another feather in cap. With this new BETA firmware I am testing now, it works seamlessly in load balancing. Although initially it did connect rigidly with older firm wares, it is now more flexible in shuffling the equipment from one 5 Ghz band to the other 5 Ghz Band. Although there were initial hick ups and lots of frustrations, the matter was finally escalated to the R&D team in Taiwan ([email protected]) who seem to have delivered solution with new BETA firmware which is working great so far. With the new BETA firmware I am testing, most of the issues seem to have been ironed out.

MUST READ!!!Twice as much Half the Speed LOL!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Twice as much as my 2400 Asus and get this my Asus was 525mb and the X8 325mb on a good day. Also the Netgear has half the Features too, not to mention the asus was smaller and looked better so in conclusion if you want to pay 200$ for little blue lights on your antennas which probably heated it up slowing it down anyway so I kept them off and yes the Asus has the 2 Port Aggregation Also so you can still hook up your NetGear NAS with no downside if your thinking it wont link up right just cuz its not NetGear it will and I bet even better

Fastest wifi speeds I've ever gotten
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this on Black Friday, they were running a sale. Actually wasn't that bad to set up, though it did take a solid hour to get everything connected. We have around 15 devices. All we had to do was follow the directions.

Best router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to set up and has great Wi-Fi coverage. Love the USB vault to back up with in the router. Money well spent. The only drawback, the Genie app is not Windows 10 compatible.

Expensive but worth every penny
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Expensive but worth every penny. The design of the X8 is a bit odd and it's not so easy to see the LED lighting as compared to the X10. The X10 has an excellent design and if can spend just a little more it's an upgrade.

Set up was difficult - product works very well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went through two returns before getting a router that worked. I also got one cable that was faulty. The set up process was tough, but once I got it working I've been impressed with the capacity of the product.

Great Router with QoS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was debating between this, the X8, and the X10. Seems like the X10 is better but it lacks the QoS and the two 5GHz channels since one of them on the X10 is a frequency not commonly utilized. Pick this one.
