This is a great router for the person who wants absolutely the latest or needs one of its many features. I needed multiple separate fast 5GH radios for a project. Otherwise any of the other models would have sufficed.

We purchased this item to replace our outdated wireless router. Now we receive excellent coverage throughout our 3,000+ sq. footage one level home. Great purchase.

Had a lot of issues with multiple devices in my house, bought this and WOW what a difference! This is by far the best investment for a slow down non connecting wi-fi issues in your house with multiple devices.

Would buy again. Working well. Antenna are large and hard to conceal. Worked right away and very easy to set up. Would be better if smaller in side to conceal it better

I have a very large house and had trouble with getting good wifi to all corners. I started shopping for a new router and began reading the reviews of the X8. Simply put, this router delivers and then some!

I bought this to upgrade my wireless network as my home has at least 15 wireless devices on it. The old dual band wasn't keeping up with the streaming and web surfing, but this one has no problems at all.

This is my second Netgear router, I purchased it because of the ease of use for set up in the fact that it is one of the top rated routers available. I waited almost a year for this and I'm not sorry

I have a 2 story house with many devices- phones, tablets, computers, playstation, etc. Great reception for all devices running at same time throughout all floors including basement and outside in yard.

I bought this router to replace an Apple Airport Extreme. I expected to get more range in the house from the Netgear but it ended up being about the same.

Still having issues connecting in one of my rooms as it's constantly buffering and searching for the Internet. The technician where I live said that should not be happening especially since we moved the router so close to that room. It's a bummer because in buying one of the most expensive options I thought it would work as flawlessly as was represented by the sales person, in saying I would not need anything additional, and would have a "no hassle" Wi-Fi system.

I have been useing the NightHawk a few months now, It doesn't need to be rebooted 3 times a day. Gives everyone WiFi with out hesitation. It was an expensive item.. but in th elong run well worth it.

First off this thing is huge so I expected nothing less than outstanding performance and at this price point I thought "this has to be good" but sadly that wasn't the case. Within two days the 5ghz signal would shut down randomly and wouldn't show up when trying to connect but it was easily fixed with a reboot only problem is I had to reboot constantly. When I used heavy data such as Netflix or online gaming I would get disconnected because the signal would shut down and have to reboot. I've checked video reviews and most of them seem to have the same problem so it doesn't seem that I got a faulty one. Overall at this price it's not worth it you can find other routers that perform just as well for half the price.

Very happy with my purchase, the only thing that disappoints me is that some software developers haven't developed for the high resolution, such as Quickbooks but that isn't the laptops fault.

This is another quality product by Netgear. I am upgrading from the Nighthawk X6. This will keep me going for plenty of years to come based on the specs. Easy configuration and I am truly happy.

I have finally found the answer to my problems with the home wi-fi set-up. Although this is pricey, it is worth every penny since it works. It has given my home powerful coverage in all areas.

Network Engineer: decent router when it works

Purchased in November 2016. Now in March 2017 the 2.4 Ghz radio is not having issues staying up. I have tried all recommended troubleshooting steps. The router is still having problems. I registered the serial number on netgear site. This allowed me to open a support case, and get a RMA replacement. BUT...i had to pay to have advance next day support. Otherwise I would have had to pack it up and ship it back and wait about a week for a replacement. The router still functions with the 5Ghz band and the Gigabit etherenet is still working. I have several home automation devices and wireless printers running on The 2.4Ghz band so i needed something in the meantime for them to work. Purchased a nighthawk R7000 as a backup. Just so the 2.4 GHz will function for those devices. I wont buy anymore Netgear networking products going forward. I am looking at Uniquity for my next network upgrade. I suspect the RMA replacement router won't last past the remaining Warranty period so I will have time to get some research in for my next purchase. The high price for the router is also not worth it. If you do decide to spend this much, spend a few extra for the extended Geek Squad protection. I thought I did and found out I didnt. Now I am stuck. Buyer beware. Seriously

Love everything about this x8. Especially the AC function to another media bridge. Couldn't ask for anything better at this time, but as technology evolves, something better will come along
