Customers are saying

Customers recognize the Orbi 750 Series AX4200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System's extensive coverage, ease of use, and strong performance as significant advantages. Many appreciate the straightforward setup process and reliable signal strength, resulting in improved connectivity. However, some users cite the high price as a drawback, and a lack of robust parental controls is also mentioned as an area for improvement. While some experienced lag, others reported significant improvements in speed and reduced lag after installation.

    DNS lookup failures

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I loved everything about this set up, until I started to experience the dreaded "DNS lookup" failures that other Orbi users have reported. The router does not properly support DNS lookups, which led to intermittent timeouts. Not the thing you want to have happen while taking a test for on-line school. It's too bad, because everything else was great, but I'm going to return this. The NetGear support is also terrible; typical offshore agents who don't even understand how the product works at even the most basic level.

Didn't work for me with my FIOS Setup

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Unfortunately I've had a poor experience with the AX4200. I have Verizon FIOS with the G1100 Quantum Gateway router. I thought I could purchase this WIFI to help out my poor signal strength in the house. What I found was it didn't. So I called Netgear tech support and they said the problem was that I had the unti in Access Point mode and it wouldn't do any better than the G1100 would do and that I needed to put the G1100 into Bridge mode and have the Orbi as the primary router. This wasn't an easy thing to do as my internet/phone/TV are all served up by the G1100 and I still need the phone and TV to be handled by the G1100. After some web surfing and trial and error I found a blog that explained how to do this so I could still get TV Guide and OnDemand type things from the TV. Unfortunately this did not resolve the problem with the internet signal. The Orbi was now working as the Router but signal was poor. Another couple calls to Netgear tech support had them discover the device was having issues with updating the firmware. After a manual update to the router and satellite and a complete reboot of the system things seemed to be working. A few days later the same problem with a weak signal (Orbi app has a wifi signal analyzer showing me the weak signal). Called tech support again (call #4) and they said it must be the equipment and for an additional $16.90 they will send me a new system to replace the old system. Having already invested a ton of time and the cost of the unit I had no other option but to agree. The problem is Netgear is out-of-stock of this unit (10/22/2020) and don't know when it will be available again. Netgear said they could downgrade my device but not upgrade the device with an in stock item. So after a couple months of fighting to get this device working I unfortunately am in no better situation then I was prior to buying it. I would recommend the Best Buy extended warranty for this product as it would have made my life easier with all of this as I could have easily returned it.

connectivity is great if you can get it working. I struggled to get it online. It dropped out or something during the first attempt and then got stuck between the SSID assignment and the defaults. Had to power cycle and press the reset button. now, i'm trying to manage the connected devices and they aren't all showing up. looked this up on the net and i see it is a common problem. Come ON! you are freaking Netgear! GD!!!! this should be perfect.

    Solid hardware, horrible software

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The title says it all. I’m tired of troubleshooting the software issues besides that, the software is so horribly written that is impossible to do anything useful with the hardware. This is a shame because Netgear started from a pretty solid router company years ago. Now the hardware is overpriced and the software is horrible and will only waste your time.

    Not as advertised

    Posted .

Don't buy this. It is not tri-band and the performance via the satellite even when using gigabit wired backhaul is somehow limited to around 100 mbps. The Wi-Fi channel selection is limited to 36-44 in 5ghz and the high channels for the 5ghz band cannot be selected. Not sure what Netgear was thinking here but this one has some design limitations that make it hard to recommend. Returned this unit and went for another model. FWIW, I'm an IT professional with many years of experience

I spent all of 30 minues watching Netgears own application fail to connect to their own router and satellites. Not once did the application detect the router. I followed all the command prompts and ensured my phone and the Orbi app had Wifi Control. Good job Netgear apending millions on R&D for a product that doesnt even work. On my way to return the item right now. I will never buy a Netgear product again.

If you are planing on using this device longer than 2 years, you will be required to pay $99 per year for support that NETGEAT will purposely cause. This needs to be investigated. Bought 2 years ago, moved to a new house, now router is not connecting. Even thought i did the same exact setup as when I first got it.
