The Netgear AX4200 Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6 Router and Satellite 2Pk is awesome addition to the household that provides an optimal home networking experience. The range, amount of connected devices, and network speeds provided are much better than the cable provider modem or other tested mesh systems. The setup guided by the app was very simple and was completed in under 15 mins. The system app is very useful as well. The Netgear Orbi AX4200 definitely maximizes its value for owners looks for a great home networking experience.

So far I could not be more impressed with all aspects of the Orbi AX4200 mesh router. It was amazingly simple to setup. I plugged it in, positioned the satellite on the other side of the house, and re-used my previous SSID and passphrase. In literally 10 minutes I had replaced my aging Apple Airport based network! I was astounded how easy and fast the changeover went.
The speed is amazing! I used to segregate my 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks thinking I knew best about when to connect to which. With the Orbi you set up just one SSID and let it connect as needed. I am now getting consistently fast download speeds from wherever I am in the house. It does not matter whether I am in the room with the router or not - the speeds are the same. And I am also able to get a good connection from about 100 feet outside the house.
The app is also great. It is very well laid out and intuitive. I love being able to monitor the device connections and track the network traffic.
Highly recommended!

Easy to setup. One placed down stairs and the other upstairs covers the whole house. Zero deadline including deck and garage. No speed issues although I only have 200mb/s service. Never experienced any lag. Serves two people with all their devices. Glad I didn’t pay for a “faster” high performance mesh router.

You get what you pay for - this is a good entry into WIFI 6 Mesh systems. Good thorough-put and transmission speeds. Blankets my house and surrounding yard in strong WIFI signal. Most houses won't need anything more. But if you have a huge place or transmission problems, you can always add an additional unit. Love the addition of ethernet ports on the satellite - although wish that the satellite had 4 like on the upgraded (read: more expensive) unit. The setup app was easy to use and guided every step of the way. The app gives good updates (like when new smart device logs onto the network) and the armor protection is good. The devices themselves are a little large - but well made and handle heat well. My last orbi lasted the longest of any router I've ever had. Expect the same from this one. So if you're looking for more than the basic level router and want a good, fast unit - you could do a lot worse. Nothing so bad as to ding a star.

The pros:
- Easy to manage using Orbi app
- Consistent wifi, no dropping signal
- Coverage is great both inside and outside my house (2600 SF)
- Supports a dedicated backhaul channel via wifi 6 but also ethernet backhaul.
The cons:
- These are pretty big and bulky, and certainly don't blend in with my home decor. I wish they were less conspicuous.
- The speed is not as good as I expected, especially with my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G which supports wifi 6. I usually get between 200-250 mbps with my phone, which is better than my wife gets with her iPhone XS (wifi 5 and gets 150-200 mbps), but it's not an very noticeable difference. I expected it to be faster. My internet is 500 mbps which my wired devices achieve, so the bottleneck is the wifi.
- Glad to have a couple ethernet ports on the main router, but I really would have liked more. I have an external switch connected to it to give me the ports I need.
In summary, these met the need I had when I bought them: A single wifi router just wasn't enough to cover my whole house and yard, and these do that. The performance IS a little bit better than my old wifi 5 router, but not enough to notice it. Considering the price premium, I expected better speeds.

1 in the living room, 1 in the back bedroom / office, 1 upstairs bedroom. 5 bars everywhere, even on my patio and down the driveway to the street. DUMP the freeware your cable company bestowed, this is MUCH faster. And the security was easy to set up. Geek squad came out and handled the switchover from cable router to this in minutes. Thank you

I replaced my old router with this one that’s latest in the market with WiFi6 technology and performance has been fabulous. Comes with a main unit (with 3 additional Ethernet ports besides the main internet port) and a satellite (repeater) which pairs very easily and is much needed for homes with large square footage and dead spots. Set up / Installation is very intuitive and managing the devices via the app is very easy. It automatically distributes the band between 2.4G and 5G which can be manually adjusted as well I think but I am not 100% sure as I didn’t have to tweak it. One thing I am disappointed though is that there is no parental control functionality for this model for its price point which is the only negative I would highlight. I still like the superior performance of the router and hence giving it 5 stars.

This has been the largest upgrade to performance in well over 10yrs. I have a 200mb connection from Spectrum, and the NetGear CM700 modem working with this.
Let me start by saying, I was nervous to drop this much money. After the upgrade, I would gladly drop the money again.
Why did I upgrade to this?
- I work from home now, and use video and audio calls from MS Teams
- I have three kids on google meet all day
- Since the upgrade, there is zero lag
- Consistent speeds of 60-70mb while everyone is online
- I can sit on my deck after work and pull down 200mb. I could barely use Pandora before.
The App
- All config is done via the app
- The app is very nice and easy as heck to use
- Love that I can easily disconnect / pause internet my kids or whatever device is connected
- Love the push notification to tell me when something is joining the network.
I am a huge fan of this. Nice job NetGear.

This is by far the easiest router extender/satellite setup I’ve ever done. The app takes care of almost all of it for you. Our house (3500 square feet) went from having no internet on the 2nd floor (opposite side of house form the original router) to having full 5ghz and 2.4ghz speeds. It’s wonderful only having 1 network and the router determines which frequencies it will use for each connected device. I would recommend this device to anyone the was looking for a new wireless setup just based off the ease of setup, definitely worth the price tag.

They say that you get what you pay for with cameras and bicycles. With network technology it seems very hit or miss. My existing network components (two AC routers) were 3 and 5 years old. They were high end but not top of the line. Based on their specs, either of them by themselves should have done the job. However, even with both of them in place and optimized as router and AP and even with a dual band extender added, I had struggled to get reliable coverage in our 2400 square foot house. Our house, though not that large, seemed to have some unpenetratable areas.
So, as I considered different replacement options I was aware that claims about speed and coverage by manufacturers had to be taken with a grain of salt when it came to my house. I had stared longingly at the new wifi 6 and mesh and tri-band options out there, but my past experience made me reluctant to plop down big money given my prior experiences.
In particular, it is this AX4200 system that was my favorite in terms of specs because it combined all three (wifi 6, mesh, and tri-band). It had consistently positive reviews on both professional critic sites and among most users. But at $450 I could not pull the trigger. However, a sale, a 15% recycle trade in discount, some expiring Best Buy certificates, and complaints every week from my wife that her troublesome iPad couldn't connect compelled me to buy this system.
It took a little work to get it set up (more on that below), but now that it is up and running I am blown away. My one wifi 6 capable device (a notebook) demonstrates through both Speedtest and real world tasks that the hype about wifi 6 is not hype. At 25 feet from the router, I'm getting 300mbps (my ISP rate) and in the areas that were problematic before, I'm still getting 180-220mbps. On my non-wifi 6 devices, I am getting speeds double what they were with my prior two router setup. And, more importantly, I cannot find a dead spot anywhere. I eschew hyperbole, but I can say with no exaggeration that this Netgear AX4200/RBK752 setup is not just better but miles better than anything I've ever used.
As for setup, I do have a specific case to mention. I use Pi-Hole to block internet ads. If you don't, then you can skip this paragraph. If you do use Pi-Hole, just be aware that the othewise excellent Netgear Orbi app setup process did not work for me. I had to connect to my notebook via ethernet and then set my DNS manually in a browser. Once I did that, then everything worked well. You might want to wait to change your SSID until you have it up and working, too, in case you need to temporarily go back to your prior network setup like I did.
I'm sure there will be some tweaks to come and I would have preferred to have separate SSID's for 2.4ghz and 5ghz, but I understand why Netgear had to do things with one. The browser interface is just as configurable as my old routers (something I was concerned about). The components are bigger than I thought they'd be, but are attractive. Compared to my Frankenstein former setup, I did lose 3 ethernet ports, but this was easy to overcome.
Had I not had the Pi-Hole issue mentioned above, the Orbi app would have done the job admirably. My really only complaint is that you have no choice in the app but to accept the Netgear Armor 30 day trial during setup with the app. There is no option to, well, opt out. Even though this trial is free, I would have skipped it as, to paraphrase Leonard's mom from Big Bang Theory, "I've been responsible for my own wifi security since 1998."
I am certain that there are other equivalent setups out there from other manufacturers and possibly even some better at this price, but for me this was a slam dunk great decision. I've been using Netgear equipment for years and also have their Arlo spinoff cameras. With every prior Netgear purchase there had been some niggling issue here or there. So far with the AX4200/RBK752, I have had none. Just buy this.

My apt. has a lot of walls and is 2 stories. typically wifi speeds get really really slow upstairs with a router placed down stairs.
i then switched to a mesh router, that mesh router system did work better, but still was not the greatest (my son complained constantly about video game lag).
So, I shelled out the money for the orbi ax4200, and it has been better than anything ive ever had. My down speed with spectrum is 400, but down stairs i see regular speeds up to 480, upstairs is still a lot slower but still a pretty good 280mbps.
Overall this mesh system is really good and futureproof. my apt is only 1200 sq ft, so if you have a lot of thick walls and have two floors, i definitely recommend this. If you have a similar layout, but way more sq footage, then i recommend the the ax 6000 ( the one with three points). Otherwise, a smaller area with not many walls and maybe only one floor may not need this particular setup.

I've owned Orbi mesh network routers for several years. They have always worked quite well---and the AX4200 is no exception. I have a 4,000 sq ft house and this pair shows solid coverage throughout.
I replaced my previous Orbi only because this pair supports WiFi 6 and some of my new devices did also. I wanted a home network that matched the capability of my devices.
I had no issues with the configuration or resulting performance--all good! If you have an Orbi, Wifi issues will fade into the background--you can concentrate on content not the hardward.

Major boost in speed and coverage vs old AC1750 system. Manages to punch a 50mbps signal through very thick storm doors that prior non-mesh systems could not do. Generally easy to setup. Good integration with the mobile app and so far the remote management capability appears to be very good. Glad to have purchased this system as it is worth the high price.

This is an amazing mesh router system, and probably the best you can buy. The range is incredible, the speeds are excellent, the setup is very easy and the app is top notch. My only gripe with this product, is how expensive adding more satellites is. Buying just one satellite to expand your router’s range is a hefty price, costing almost as much as two of them together at a ridiculous $280. That’s literally the only thing taking that fifth star away, otherwise this is a great product.

I have gig speed internet coming into the house (2 story, about 4k sq ft) but was disappointed with videoconferencing quality with family working/schooling at home. Turns out the Xfinity xFi router was not providing consistent bandwidth in the corners of the house where we all separately have to be on video for work/school. After much research I purchased this Orbi and results have been great. Device set up in 5 minutes and working flawlessly so far. Faster speeds throughout the house and I hard-wired a couple of devices to the satellite for even more stability. 600-700mbs connected to satellite in places where I had almost nothing before. I feel like I'm getting value now from my gig speed internet. Pros: easy set up, powerful, future proof with wifi 6. Cons: Limited configuration options, no QoS. If you know what QoS is and like to do detailed configuration, then this is not for you. Basically the intelligence built into the router handles many simultaneous connections automatically so if you have plenty of starting bandwidth and want a simple set up that can handle just about anything you can throw at it, this is highly recommended.

I purchased this mesh system because my previous wifi box was to slow for the internet speed we have. We also were not getting the 5ghz connection farther in our house away from the box. Let's cover the good...set up was easy. Didn't take me long to get it setup. Solid speed and a good amount of wired ports. We have our main smart TV and Xbox connected directly to the box with cat6 cables.
The app is good but with one issue. It seems like everyone has a different version. So if you look online for help it's difficult to figure out why it doesn't do something. My example is the parental control. They sent me email advertisements saying to set up parental controls but I had no icon in the app for it. Finally after hours of research I found out you need to pay a fee for that.
This is my biggest issue with the system and something everyone should know before you purchase a Orbi mesh system....you can't force a device to connect to a specific satellite. This is close to being a fatal flaw for the system. The main Orbi comes up first and if something can connect it will no matter how solid the connection is. I have a Orbi satellite 2-feet from a TV in my bedroom with a Roku connected. The Roku connects to the main router and not the satellite. This causes buffering and poor video quality. The only way to fix this is to unplug the Roku and plug it back in. This will allow it to connect to the satellite instead of the main Orbi. But if the system runs a test or has to be restarted it reconnects to the main unit and you have to unplug the Roku again. Really a terrible design. It would be nice if just once these companies would trust its customers to setup the device to our own unique circumstances. This is a huge issue for me. It's upsetting because they were very close to making a great unit and fell on their face at the last second. Maybe they will make better software in a later version and allow us to permanently configure specific devices to connect to specific satellites.

Excellent product; excellent performance and range.
The dedicated backhaul channel is an excellent feature for speed.
I'd give it 5 stars, except disappointingly, the parental controls are non-existent. Circle is not available yet on this product. (You can set an on/off schedule, but it applies to all the devices you select; and it is not intuitive to set up.) Otherwise you have to manually turn on and off devices on the phone app.
Circle is not available yet on this product. You would expect when Netgear launched this great product they would have kept parental controls at parity with their earlier products.
So I went with the Linksys Velop (less range, less speed, but better/easier parental controls.)
