Overall good product

Overall I’m pretty happy with it. It has definitely increased my WiFi capacity in the house and when it runs well, have no bandwidth issues with about 20-30 devices. I have, however, had problems with it dropping internet service. I know it’s not the internet dropping service, because the service still works, but the rougher stops recognizing it for a bit. This wouldn’t normally be that much of an issue, but since I work from home, it’s dropped me from a few meetings, which is less than ideal.

Not for Smart Homes.

Router works well with good coverage, BUT, if you have smart home devices you should skip this one. Smart home switches, plugs etc only work on the 2.4 ghz band. They are typically configured from an app on your phone. Your phone has to be on the same 2.4 ghz network as the smart device. If your phone connects to the 5ghz network the smart device cannot be activated. Netgear does not allow you to assign separate SSIDs to the two ghz networks nor do they allow you to disable the 5ghz temporarily so you can configure the smart home device. There was a time you could telnet into the Orbi and disable the 5ghz antenna for a short period of time. This would allow you to add the smart home devices before the 5ghz re-activated. Netgear disabled telnet in newer firmware versions. So, to summarize, if you have a smart home, find a different router.

Pricey but worth it for me

Signal in the basement was weak and the dining room was a dead zone. Lost connection the second you stepped outside as well. We bought these to fix the issue. They were a little more than I wanted to spend, but set up was relatively simple and we have not had an issue anymore. We have been able to stream music and tv in our garage for the first time thanks to this.
