Great wireless network

Defective out of the box

The geek squad guy spent several hours and could not get it to work. He guessed that it was defective and suggested that I return and replace them. I decided two keep using Comcast box at an irritating $14 a month. It works great.

Sonos speakers

We don’t need subscriptions

The reason I’m giving them a low rating is because NetGear is pushing their subscription services by making router configuration, and device administration worse. Device access is basically on/off tied to IP (no option for MAC address), the schedule for blocking services has never worked on my router. I bet this would work if I paid for their monthly/annual parental control (premium) subscription- but that’s ridiculous! All of this is done on the router, so all the subscription is providing is user interface to make configuration easier, and they’ve hobbled their routers admin to squeeze more money out of customers. NetGear is trying to sell you expensive razors and expensive blades.
