Customers are saying

Customers recognize the Orbi 750 Series AX4200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System's extensive coverage, ease of use, and strong performance as significant advantages. Many appreciate the straightforward setup process and reliable signal strength, resulting in improved connectivity. However, some users cite the high price as a drawback, and a lack of robust parental controls is also mentioned as an area for improvement. While some experienced lag, others reported significant improvements in speed and reduced lag after installation.

I am still having problems with wifi connections. Now my Ring doorbell, HP wireless printer, Rainbird irrigation system are not connecting to wifi. I keep trying both the Orbi and xfinity with no success. I had signed up with a Geek Squad 1 yr service contract and tried the chat. That was useless.

Terrible Customer Service - Best Buy

I purchased this on-line 2/8/22 picked it up at the Albuquerque store on 2/10/22. The unit would not connect with a number of 2.4G devices in our home and after exhaustive, frustrating discussions with Netgear services I went to Best Buy for advice. I was told that the most effective route to take would be to buy a total tech plan and schedule a geek squad visit to resolve the issue. the techs came to our home and after running numerous tests they determined that the unit was defective. The Netgear Website suggests that the best way to return a defective product is through the reseller. Best Buy in West Albuquerque refused to help. I was told that Best Buy was not responsible for Netgear policies.

Excellent mesh router, it's a beast!

I have been using the Netgear Orbi AX4200 mesh WiFi system in my house for about two weeks now, and have had an absolutely flawless experience. I upgraded from an XR500 Nighthawk router, which is a very good device in and of itself, and the performance improvements I’ve had with the Orbi mesh network are incredible. This is easily the best router that I’ve had the pleasure of using. Firstly, the setup from unboxing to fully operational and running took about 15 minutes and was incredibly easy. You download the Orbi app and it walks you through everything you need to do to get your WiFi setup and to get your system online. The satellite paired to the main Orbi router with no issues. I used the same SSID as with my prior network, and all of my devices connected over with no problems. Regarding features, the Orbi app provides a really simplistic and easy to use interface to control the basics of the router. This includes, to name a few, a device manager, a speed test function, network analytics, and a few others. The WiFi Analytics is great as it provides your current measured signal strength at your device (in dBm), signal strength testing in each room, and available WiFi channel information. This is high fidelity information that is hard to find elsewhere and useful for understanding interference in your environment, and where your deadspots are, which speaking of, there are none! One really nice thing with the app is it actually shows you your speed test measurement history, so you can measure speeds all around the house and use those as comparisons. You can delve into more advanced network fundamentals by logging in from a browser, but so far I haven’t needed to mess with any of those. I came from an XR500, which is known for it’s user interface and feature set, and honestly I can say that often those settings were more hassle than they were worth. The Orbi has worked better from day one, with no advanced setting changes, than the XR500 ever did no matter how much I optimized the settings. The Orbi itself is packed full of great features, including WiFi 6, which while we personally don’t have anything that’s WiFi 6 yet, it is very nice to have something that’s future proof to this new standard. The Orbi also uses a dedicated WiFi 6 connection for the backhaul between the satellite and the main router, which is very cool technology and has worked with absolutely no issues so far. The performance of this thing is incredible. I am in a two-person household, approximately 4000 square feet, ~24 devices connected, and have NEVER experienced any meaningful latency issues. I have the main router in the upstairs office, and the satellite in the opposite corner of the house downstairs in the kitchen. My wife and I each play Xbox games on separate Xbox’s, both on WiFi, and the gaming experience is almost flawless. Maybe a small latency bump observed infrequently, but nothing that impacts gameplay at all. With our old router, we had her Xbox wired in and my Xbox wirelessly connected and I would frequently have latency issues impacting gameplay, especially during high usage times of day. Now, all of the issues are gone. We can confidently play Xbox online and stream videos to our phones, all wirelessly, with no concern. We have 1 Gbps internet speeds and with my computer wired in I can actually frequently measure 1.3+ Gbps using Fast.com. My phone will often measure 800+ Mbps when close to the router, and drops to about 500 Mbps in the far reaches of the house, still with 100% signal. I’ve walked all around the house and the worst signal measured was -53 dBm in the garage – which is typically a blackhole for signals. On my Xbox, when performing a speed test using the old router, I would frequently get a max of 56 Mbps under normal conditions, now I get around 120+ Mbps on the Xbox, again with both on WiFi. Upgrading to the Orbi mesh WiFi system has far exceeded all of my expectations. We upgraded to the Orbi system because we had recently moved, and no longer had ethernet run to each of the rooms in the house. Rather than going through the pain of running ethernet cables again, I was hoping that technology had advanced enough to meet our internet demands. I am glad to say that it definitely has with this new Orbi, which is exactly what we needed! The price of the Orbi is without a doubt steep, however, to us it is definitely worth it without question. The ease of use, advanced features, and capabilities make this a very powerful device that I have confidence will cover our internet needs well into the future. The Orbi AX4200 will definitely be at the top of my recommendation list to any family or friends looking to upgrade their WiFi network equipment.

The initial setup was frustrating because using the app always seemed to fail to compete. I ended up having to just plug it directly into the computer and configure it using the week interface. I have 50+ devices and only half connect each time it restarts or updates. The only work around is to change the WiFi password then change it back to get the remaining devices to connect. It also drains my Nest Thermostat battery and the only workaround is to connect that device to the guest network. When it's working it's very fast but too many quirks for the high price.

The product has worked well for three weeks however I have begin having problems. I was unable to conduct the speed test. I am getting the (CONNECTION FAILED: If the problem persists, try rebooting your router) message. I tried rebooting the router, the modem and the microwave :) to no avail. I called customer service and received my case number. After explaining the situation to the tech, I was told that this is the first time that Netgear has heard of this situation and he didn't have a solution. It concerns me that Netgear was unaware of this issue and it makes me wonder what else is going on with this product that hasn't surfaced. I like the mesh system concept but will return the Orbi AX4200 next week.

I don’t normally write reviews but this one’s been driving me nuts. This router loses its DHCP settings every single time it loses power and all my devices disconnec from internet and I have to go through settings all over again. I was on phone with customer support (off-shore) and after almost 1.5 hours and after agent banged her head around for it the issue got fixed and hapenned after the first power loss again. Don’t recommend it at all.

I had high hopes for this and unfortunately, I was disappointed on all friends. 2 weeks after installation, zoom and MS teams calls would not connect. Spent 3 weeks calling India for support with no resolution and empty promises that “engineering department will call you back within 24 hours.” BestBuy was nice enough to take this thing back after return period has ended. Went with eero and absolutely 0 issues. Do yourself a favor and do not buy any Netgear products. If anything ever goes wrong, you will never get a resolution and the headache is simply not worth it when there are so many other reputable brands.

My family has not been happy with their performance. They seemed to work smoothly back last yera when we first purchased them. But no they have difficulty connecting with our Comcast Xfinity modem & routinely disconnect themselves from the network for a few minutes every couple of days. I have tried contacting the company to find out if there is an upgrade I missed, but without the tech subscription I am left without specific guidance. Replacing with the Comcast pods ASAP.

Okay there was multiple problems with this RV purchase one when I set it up the satellite never stayed lit up so I didn't know if it was actually on or off. 2 the main one that I connected to the modem would not even stay lit up which when I returned it I was told by somebody that had one that it is supposed to stay lit up there is no option like on the ax80 and up by Netgear which I switched to to turn the LEDs on or off. I know plenty of people love these my experience with it was absolute nightmarish

I have been a strong supporter of NETGEAR products for years but my experience with this has been terrible. I was unable to forward ports. I worked with NETGEAR tech support for 5 months and paid for upgraded support. Calls were frequently dropped and techs were hard to understand but worst of all the last tech did something that made the satellites unable to connect. I'm done with NETGEAR.

Unable to return this because of the limited time return policy. The signal goes out randomly and devices drop. My cameras are always losing signal during the day and night for a few minutes and that never happened before this system. I have tried moving the satellite and it says the signal is good but I don’t think the app is very good and the antennas must not be strong enough. Pick up an Eero system instead.
