I bought this extender because the wireless signal from my Netgear Router in my home office was being dropped when I was using a laptop in my living room. I installed the extender in my living room and have had no more problems. I am also streaming video with a Sony Blue Ray Player that I have hard wired to the extender and this is also working fine. The extender actually creates a new wireless network between itself and the wireless devices that you want to connect to it. This means that if you are using security such as WPA2-PSK you will need to create a new SSID and key that your wireless devices will use when you want them to go through the extender. I had it up and running with both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands in about 15 minutes. Most of that time was setting up the new WPA2-PSK security for the two new SSID's. The other point that may seem obvious but is worth mentioning is that even though the connection from your computer to the extender may be great all you're really getting for a connection to the internet is what the extender gets to your router. Therefore it is very important to locate it so that it is getting a good strong signal from the router. The indicator lights on the front are very helpful for this and I discovered that moving the unit just a couple of feet can have a huge impact on signal strength.

Bought this to accommodate my internet speed of 300mbps. Not sure if its how my house is constructed but the range isn't that impressive. But for the price, its okay..

we have a ranch style house with the exsisting wifi on one end and our master bedroom with a tv that could use the wifi on the other end. My wife also users her phone and a samsung tablet which we just purchased from ypu. It is used for email ect. but we still get get 1 bar of strength in the bedroom. I put the NETGEAR Universal Dual Band WiFi Range Extender in the middle of the house after trying several locations. we can not get netfilx for the tv and the phones and tablet work because they use our verizon coverage

Really don't think the quality of this is all that great for price. Didn't really seem to help extend our wifi connection at all

Basic install is OK, but if you want to use it to piggy-back onto an existing wifi extender Netgear tech support will charge you $119.

I am a Windows/IBM platform power user and this thing really gave me fits. The set-up did not respond as the instructions said it should. Multiple device resets to default to insure I was setting up as per the instructions was no help. After wasting about 8 hours on this I exchanged it for a NetGear EX7000 Access Point. OMG, what a difference. The Access Point set up as it should per the instructions.

Beware of the 14 day return policy. Bought on recommendation by best buy employee. Did not help signal at all. Tried to return less than three days after buying.. Thought I had 30 days. Told I was out of the return period.. Pretty much told I was SOL. Been a loyal BB customer for years.. Was shocked, I have a useless booster out $60. Hope it was worth it cause I no longer shop at Best Buy..

The signal strength fluctuates a lot causing my laptop to loose a signal. I have moved it twice with no increase in signal strength.

We wanted to extended the range to the end of our 1,000 SF home so that we could watch cable TV in the back bedroom. This product fails! We have resorted to utilizing our main router for access to the TV cable service and live with the interrupted signal. At least the signal does not stop altogether like the NETGEAR - IEEE 802.11n 600 Mbps Wireless Range Extender.

After trying to connect extender to my router, I kept getting an error message when entering my password. Contacted tech support and was told the product must have a hardware issue and was instructed to return it for an exchange. The box made it sound like it was an easy install, obviously that's not the case. Back to square one.

I spent nearly a week on the phone with India trying to install this unit so that it would extend my D-Link WI-FI to an outdoor location about 40 feet from the house. It never got over 20 feet and I returned it to Best Buy for a refund.

Works great if nearby... we have a 2000 square foot home and we can't get coverage over the whole him! Very frustrating especially for the price! We've been told we must have some type of interference but still it's clearly not strong enough to overcome basic interference! Disappointed, especially for the price!!
