The USB WiFi receiver on my Sony TV has terrible reception and consistently showed 0 -1 bar even when other devices like my Kindle Fire showed 3-4 bars in the same location. I finally got tired of Netflix flaking out on my TV, so got this extender to boost the signal for my TV. I tried several locations for the extender following Netgear's recommendations but found that I had to place it next to the TV to get 3-4 bars on the TV Wifi connection. Just to be clear - This is a problem with the TV Wifi - The Netgear extender works great and boosted signal in other parts of my house as well. The link rate LEDs were also really helpful. I have WPA security turned on for both bands of my Linksys router. I had to try a couple of different ways to get it to work with the router. In the end I found that the most reliable way to connect to the router was to use the WPS button on the back of the extender. For some reason the WPS button on my router does nothing - I had to access the router directly through my web browser and "click" on the WPS button icon through the browser interface to make t he connection. One other caveat - I needed a Wifi enabled laptop to access the extender and set up the FastLane configuration. Luckily I could use my work laptop to do this (I only have desktop workstations at home). I tried both non-FastLane and FastLane configurations and decided to stick with FastLane for the overall better speeds it offers. FastLane uses one of the two N-bands (2.4/5 GHz) as a dedicated link to your wifi router. The other band is used to connect to your wifi enabled devices like your TV, Kindle Fire, etc. Overall, I thought it was a reasonably quick setup (2 hours) with a little extra time for messing around with the router and extender settings to see what would give the fastest speed, etc.

I purchased this item to extend my home network that didn't quite have the signal strength to reach the other side of the house. There is also a lot of concrete in the floors (the modem is in the basement of the house) that made the signal more difficult. This product did exactly as advertised, and with very little setup needed. I've been running this product for a few weeks now with absolutely no problems. Great product. I would definitely recommend this product to others, and I would buy it again.

Great for extending range of router

We needed a boost to our wireless router signal since our router is at one end of our long house and the signal is weak at the opposite end of the house. This Netgear range extender instantly solved our problem. We placed the router in a room in about the middle of the house. Setup was very fast and easy. Very shortly the router signal was boosted and now we get consistently strong and stable signals when at the opposite end of the house from where the router is. We are quite pleased with the results.

Have an AT&T Uverse installation where the WiFi router is in a walk-in closet in the corner of a large house used as an office I recently moved in. At the other corner fifty feet away all my three laptops barely received the signal and were suffering constant hang ups.. Understandably the signal was attenuated as it had to go through clothes, two bathrooms, two office libraries and a kitchen. I installed the Netgear unit in the middle of the house and now I get 4 bars out of 5! Before just 1 bar. The unit does not shows the speed of the connection as it says in the manual presumably as it is a Uverse set up but who cares! It works beautifully!

    Reliably maintains a solid connection

while the netgear range extender doesn't dissapoint when it comes to maintaining a WiFi connection to our home router and the 4 LAN ports are responsive and fast I'm not overly impressed with the additional range on wifi. That goes for both the 5 and 2.4 channels. The Linksys router it is wirelessly tethering to still has a longer reach. I think bridge would be a better term for this product as extender seems a bit of a stretch.

Bought this to connect a Camera DVR located in a garage. Used the older Netgear one before. This is much improved compared to the previous version. Great Signal Broudcast and connected to a Cradlepoint router with ease. The dvr only had a hardwired network connection so this was my best choice. Just think its a bit overpriced.

I bought this because my xbox 360 wireless antenna is not very good. I would get knocked off line while streaming netflix or playing games online. I tried the AV connection kit with limited success. My wireless router is upstairs and my 360 is downstairs. I purchased the range extender in hopes that my wireless signal would be better for my 360. I found that if I set up the range extender next to my 360 and hard wire it, it works awesome. The wireless signal is much stronger downstairs in my house and in the yard. I can stream netflix great on my iPad in my backyard. The setup was easy as pie especially if you have a WSP router.

We have a two story house that has a strange layout. The lower levels are like bat wings below and on the side of the main structure. Our primary wifi equipment is in the center of the house upstairs. Our daughter uses one wing downstairs and with this booster she gets incredible receptions on all her devises. Its so good that the master bedroom upstairs picks it up before the main unit (even though the main unit is closer). It also reaches the wing on the other side downstairs area. These areas are separated by a floor and two walls with a courtyard entry in between. Can't beat that!

Picked up extender to set up my Xbox 360. I am using this in the basement/den of a 3 story house. My router is in the office which is on the top level of my house. Before using the extender I would get a good strong signal in my basement picking up all but the last bar when you look at the wifi indicator in Windows. I decided to go with the range extender to hard wire my Xbox 360. I could have gone with the wireless adopter for the Xbox but the price was just about 20 bucks less than the extender and the xtender gives me the option to hard wire four items plus extends the range. Since I was already reciving a good signal I really didn't notice a huge increase. I now pick up all the bars when I view wifi in Windows. Setup was easy with no hassles. The only reason I did not rate 5 stars is that I am unable toget back into the router to tweak the settings and try out that dual band setting for max preformance. I have typed in the phrase, whatever it was can not remember at the moment but I can not connect to the router. I researched this online and a lot people seem to suffer with this problem when using NetGear products. But other than that it works pretty well.

    Does the job

I bought this to extend the range of a 2Wire router/modem provided by ATT for UVerse service. The data cabinet in the house is in an isolated location and the 2Wire has a weak wireless signal as it is. It did the job as advertised and was very easy to set up. Downside is that Kindles and iPhones don't always recognize the signal.

    Great little extender

Just bought it last night, set it up in 30 seconds, used it all of last night and this morning with 0 issues. My original router was putting out 60MBs per second and I'm guessing this one is running at about 30MBs. To be expected from an extender/repeater. My router had to go through a kitchen, washer dryer, brick wall, and bathroom to get to the bedroom and it was not having it. I set the extender up to the side of these obstacles, and it works great.

I was concerned at first if it would work with my Verizon FIOS router because there is no setup button on the router for the encryption. But the instructions that came with my new purchase explained how to configure it without the button. Overall its a great range extender not only does it cover my whole upstairs but it extends to my backyard as well. It works very well streaming YouTube on several i pads with no lagging. Highly Recommended

The Netgear range extender was easy to setup, even though my router has no WPS button. You can place it anywhere within the existing radius of your wireless signal to extend the range. You don't connect it to your network with cables, so it can sit anywhere. Once it's powered up, you connect to its simple wireless signal and open a browser which automatically is redirected to the device's setup page. It's a snap.

The product was easy to install and works very good. It basically works as a repeater to extended wireless range. So it connects wirelessly to an existing network, then allows access to that network via its wireless network signal.

I purchased this for use in a 2,400 sq. ft. home. I wanted to reach from one end of the house to the other, as well as boosting the signal out into the yard. This was easy to install, almost automatic. Push the button, find the computers and devices, provide better signal, surf the web. Just that easy. No problems whatsoever.
