Customers are pleased with the Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender's ease of use, Wi-Fi range, and signal strength. Many appreciate its quick setup, compact size, and good performance for the price. However, some experienced connection instability, and compatibility issues were also reported by a few users. The Ethernet port was a welcome feature for some.

Maybe its because it was the cheaper alternative, if you really want a WiFi booster you're going to have to spend more money.

I used this product to extend the network through my home so that our TV and phones would have better wireless coverage. Excellent performance and since it advertises as a new access point there is no confusion as to whether you are connecting throught the device or directly to your origianl accees point. It is fairly easy to use if you don't have a complicated setup. If you use MAC filtering on your router, this extender modifies the MAC address of devices connected to it - so you will have to update your router with the new allowed addresses (this was not even mentioned in the documentation, but available through the tech support site). I've seen people that didn't know about this give this product poor reviews. Once installed it has performed flawlessly, and is quite unobstrusive just sitting in an outlet.

My house is an 1800 square foot one level home with an 1800 square foot full basement. My cable router is in one corner of my basement and I had a very weak wireless reception on one side of my house on the main floor. I installed this product about 30 feet from my router at the base of my stairs that leads from the basement to the main floor. It is as simple as plugging into a wall outlet. I now get spectacular reception throughout the house and even on my outdoor deck. There are two types of setup. Spectacularly simple and kind of simple. Spectacularly simple requires a specific button on your router that once pushed will automatically connect the router to this extender. My router didn't have that button. I had to use the "kind of simple" setup. This involves a simple step by step guide to connect your router to the extender using a laptop and the internet. This took me somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes. Once set up, each electronic unit that I wanted setup on the extender was simple to choose the extender in the network connection center of the item and enter my router password. I had everything hooked up in less than 15 minutes. This could not have gone more smoothly. I am far and away not a computer guru and more of an average joe. The whole process was simple and easy to understand. I don't normally go out of my way to write reviews but this product so greatly exceeded my expectations from ease of installation and performance that I had to write a review. My kids are impressed with the improvement in wireless range.

in small places it might be ok. if you are trying to extend in larger areas you are not told that the unit actually reduces the routers overall effectiveness.
