I use this Netgear Universal WN3000RP Wi-Fi Range Extender to get a wifi signal on my back deck. I have aluminum siding on my house, the wifi signal from my Netgear router did not reach the outside to good. This extender works great! I did the manual setup, took about 30 minutes to get it up and running. I updated the firmware to the latest version. Solid signal, no disconnects! Highly recommend!

Great solution for wireless range problem

I currently have a Netgear wireless router, which is most likely why this product was very easy to install. It has only been a short while, but the device has performed as advertised. My wifi reception increased from 2-3 bars to a full signal.

Solves the problem!

I needed to improve the wireless signal in my basement because all the bedrooms for my kids are getting switched around as one leaves for college. We could always get a weak signal down there, but the boys do online gaming so it just had to be better. I research everything before I make a purchase, and sometimes if I can get it locally is a factor, such as the case for the range extender.
I use WEP security, so I had to set the unit up manually. I connected to the units wireless network, opened my browser, and it began a setup sequence. Choose your current network, enter your current network key, and you now have a new wireless network, same name but ends in _EXT.
Within 5 minutes no one could get on the internet, and I could not communicate with my router. I unplugged the range extender, cycled power to my router, which did come back to life, and plugged the range extender back in.
Now everybody is connected, the boys have great speed, and I can relax while they come up with some other problem I will have to solve. Overall it was not plug and play with WEP, but well worth the hassle.

Great Product to improve WIFI in house

I was having trouble with my WiFi in the Master Bedroom. My router is in the basement on the opposite side of the house from the Master Bed. I plugged this in on the 2nd floor about half way across the house. The signal strength in the master bedroom improve tremendously. The install was very easy. I was worried that there would be a connectivity issue but there wasn't.

Works great but not with my WRT54G.

I tried installing it and it wouldn't link up. I called the number on the box and the guy just had me do what I was already doing and gave up. I almost returned it but instead bought a new Netgear N600 router to see if if worked with that and it did. I give it 4 stars after the ordeal because even with a dual band router I was not getting the range I needed but with this thing I am. There's no mention of it not working with the very popular WRT54G and that SUCKS! I spent 2 hours last night trying to figure it out!! I'm happy now though. Router is on the 3rd floor, extender on the midle floor and I get a strong signal in the basement.

I wasn't aware of network extenders until recently but I have been presently surprised of the benefits of this product and its great price. It was also very easy to set up.

Just bought this tonight so I will have to follow up with long term results. So far it's been great. Out of the box and up and running in less than 5 minutes. It honestly took me longer to change the network on all the devices than to set this up. So far it has boosted my wifi signal further than my router ever thought about doing. I own a 3000 sqft house and I am getting 5 bars throughout. In the front and back yard I'm getting about 2-3 bars which is what I got in the house before setting this little gadget up. A speed test shows that, standing right next to this and then my router, that the router is slightly faster. Way I see it? If I can't get a signal then the speed isn't there anyway. I may purchase another unit just to be able to throw the signal all over the front and back yards as well. Good job Netgear.

It took me less than 10 minutes to be up and running. Used the WPS feature and connected seamlessly. Great coverage in my two story 3,100 sf home. Couldn't be happier.

Product works exactly as described. Installation was a cinch. I needed to boost the WiFi signal upstairs to the kids Xbox. My router is located on the lower level and I didn't have the option to move it. Put this in the master bedroom upstairs in my 1600 sf home. We now have full bars anywhere we go in the house.

Works well, needs the occasional reboot

Install was trivial with WPS button on the main wireless router. Extended wifi network came up immediately with same settings as the base router. Connections seem generally good, and the range extension is what I was looking for (from house to garage in back yard).
Only problem has been that a couple of times since I bought it the connections have failed, and I've had to reboot it (unplug and plug back in to the wall). It was very frustrating the first time till I realized that was the problem, but now that I know it needs that once in a while, its not a huge issue.

This thing is amazing! took me less than 2 minutes to setup, now every part of my house has a perfect connection to the Internet. I realize that everyone that give this extender a bad review probably didn't know how to use it. It was the easiest thing to setup, just plug into wall, press WPS button on it and my router and BAM!!! Highly recommended! don't pay any attention to the bad review they are false.

Great Wifi Extender

I wanted to extend my WiFi to around the pool area in the back yard. The NETGEAR - Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender was easy to set up. I just plugged it in, pushed the WPS button on the extender and gateway. It synced quickly. I then moved it to a plug on the back wall, connected my iPad to it, and tested it. I now have WiFi beyond the pool area and no lost of speed. There is a way to connect it using WPA, but I did not try that feature. BTW, www.bestbuy.com had it for $10 less than the store. The person at the check out just adjusted the price.

I have a large 2 story home and most of my wireless equipment is on the second level ( Xbox 360, PS3, bluray player, LG smart tv ) and before I could only get 2 bars on all systems with my current wireless router. I read the previous reviews and they seemed pretty good, so for the price of $69 thought it was worth a try. Man i have to say it does exactly what it says! Now with the extender on the second level I have 4 full bars! so now when I watch movies over Netflix they are in full HD with no buffering. My PS3 would only get about 75% max now its 100%.
I absolutely love this device and strongly recommend it.
Very easy to setup, took less than 10 min.

I wouldn't say the price was necessarily that great and it may not be an easy installation for someone with little tech skills if it doesn't install based on the few instructional steps. However, once I got it working and placed in an optimal spot, it did do a good job of giving me much stronger signal strength in areas that were weak. The only thing to keep in mind is it will identify as a different wireless network than your primary router, so you often do have to designate which signal you want to connect to. Overall, I'm very happy with being able to get faster performance in areas of my home that used to be very slow or choppy.
