Customers are pleased with the Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender's ease of use, Wi-Fi range, and signal strength. Many appreciate its quick setup, compact size, and good performance for the price. However, some experienced connection instability, and compatibility issues were also reported by a few users. The Ethernet port was a welcome feature for some.

Simple to set-up. I used WPS and it worked first time. When I changed routers I did it manually and that was easy too. Fixed my basement signal strength issue by putting it near the stairway.

Fantastic solution for extending wireless coverage

I moved to a 2500sf home and found that my wireless router did not provide coverage to the other end of the house upstairs (router is at opposite end of house downstairs). Plugged this product into the outlet in upstairs hallway, and within 5 minutes or so I had a bubble of great coverage all over my house. It even improved signal strength closer to the original wireless router.
It was a cheaper solution than buying a more expensive wireless router -- especially since they don't indicate what square footage they are most likely to cover.

Had to do a manual set up on this to get the security right, even with the main router being Netgear.
Great coverage in the house now, getting the signal from one end of the house upstairs to a room downstairs at the opposite end of the house, with a lot of metal in the way.
Occasionally, it will hang and I have to turn it off and on.

I use this unit in conjunction with a NetGear RangeMax Dual-Band Wireless N Router. The set up was simple. My only complaint is that it requires a line of sight to interact with the RangeMax. Not a huge deal, but it did require putting the RangeMax on one side of my house which leaves my bedroom with sparse coverage. I am going to install a second one of these to eliminate that issue.
One side note: The manual states that the extender will suffer from a little lag. I have not had any lag issues whatsoever on my 5mb high-speed connection being rebroadcasted to this unit.
Overall I would give it a 4.9 out of 5. Great Price and simple to setup.

Our router is in the house. My husband uses his laptop in the garage. He went from having 1-2 bars to full strength. Also my son has a PS3. He went from having 27% to 90% strength. Took 5 minutes to set up...was very simple. I have a D-link dir-655 router so I started with the D-link DAP-1360 and I could not get it hooked up. I called their tech support 3 times and they were very rude and I could not understand their broken english.

The perfect WiFi extender

We have a fairly large home, and the WiFi signal was weak in the master suite. This extender does a wonderful job, and seems to have a larger range than our router!
The only difficulty came from the MAC address filtering we have set up on the router. When the extender connects, it assigns a different MAC address to any connected devices.
We had to turn off MAC address filtering, find the virtual MAC address assigned, add it to the list, and turn the MAC address filtering back on. Now we have security and a far reaching Wifi network!

My family's battled with weak reception in the back of the house for years... I resisted adding a range extender for fear that it would interfere with other signals and security wouldn't be as good as my existing access point. This works flawlessly, puts out a stronger signal than the AP, and has the same security options as my AP. This is a win, and I no longer have to hear the complaints about not being able to stay online as we move through the house.

I got this extender because i have a lot of devices on my network. Some of my devices kept loosing connection. My router is in the office in the front of the house and most of my devices or in the center and back of the house. I placed the extender in the hallway in the middle of the house....and PROBLEM SOLVED. I love the extender..works great.

Because of the work involved to get this to run seamlessly with my Apple Airport router, I had to give it a 4 rather than a 5. But once set up, it has been great. The dead spots in my house are no more! And I can use my wireless out on the deck, out in the shed, etc. This is a great product!

For upstairs/downstairs signal strength problem

This is a great product that absolutely solved my problem. I had a problem getting my Blu Ray player to connect to the internet. My signal from my brand new router upstairs only gave me 1 bar or no bars downstairs at the Blu Ray player. I put the extender in an electrical outlet on my stairway and now have 4 bars (great signal strength) everywhere downstairs. Blu Ray now works fine and I can take advantage of everything the internet offers to TV/Movie programming. Instructions were not that great, I called Netgear's 24 hour teck support and they walked me through without a problem.

I was able to extend my wireless range to almost 200' beyond my home, so it does work for basic Net access; however, play Farmville and online poker at the same time and it can't handle it.
If you need basic, extended access, this works fine. If you're a gamer, buy a really long cable and save the money.
Also, it would not connect to my old Netgear G router, so I had to upgrade to a Netgear dual band N router. This new router works really well and has great range, so you might consider upgrading to a high-performance router before resorting to this range extender.

i really like it, but i do wish you could swap out the antenna for something a bit stronger. but it daisy chains well and a couple of these at strategic locations gives me access of almost 120 feet from the router.
not sure if it matters, but i use static ip addressing for each one.

WiFi router is in one corner of our basement. By the time it gets to second floor where my desktop computer is, the signal can be a lot weaker than I prefer. The WiFi range extender is just what I needed to improve the signal on the second floor.
