Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender's ease of use, Wi-Fi range, and signal strength. Many appreciate its quick setup, compact size, and good performance for the price. However, some experienced connection instability, and compatibility issues were also reported by a few users. The Ethernet port was a welcome feature for some.

It does the job! Improved signal strength by 30%

I was able to finally connect my PS3 to NETFLIX and watch Iron man II, which is a complicated audio/visual movie played without an pause or skips. The only thing you need to know, if you have a LYNCSYS router, is that it has to be software enabled for the WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) button to work on the front of the unit. This is done through your computer that has the LYNCSYS adviser/manager connected. In the center of the GUI click on the router image to select the settings (it isn't a pull-down menu from the top of the window). If you don't do this, pushing the button does nothing. Unfortunately, the instructions don't tell you this.

Works great and has extended WiFi access to area if my home where signal was weak. The ethernet jack is a nice perk for a hard wired connection.

This product it pretty decent. I would have thought that the signal that it puts out would have reached a little farther, but it works for our space. Super easy to set up.

Finally a booster that actually works

I tried several other booster devices before landing on this one. It was extremely easy to setup, (no issues connecting to my password protected network) and use. Try this unit before waisting money on other more expensive solutions.

May need a little tweaking with the help of the Geek squad for non-techies. Sometimes loses internet for no reason and needs to be rebooted. Otherwise easy and useful product.

The product is extremely easy to setup. The wifi range leaves a little to be deisred but it is a great value for the price.

Not bad for the price. The connection is fast but the downloand speeds are greatly reduced. I pay for 10 Mbps, I get 6.5 to 24 Mbps wired but WiFi is about 4 to 7.5 Mbps.

I installed this extender upstairs to boost the signal from my new router. It plugs into the wall and the installation is very easy. Great booster for the upstairs.

Installation was so easy. Plugged it in the power outlet after the LED went green , I pressed the WPS button and the WPS button on the router - CONNECTED! Reconnected my XBOX to the new network (_EXT) and got now ALL the bars.

I am happy with this unit, and would recommend it to others. It is nice to connect my DVD player directly to the extender.

I wanted to get wifi in an apartment on the property that is away from the house where the wifi router is. At first I could not get the internet but after moving the wifi range extender (WN3000RP) to another wall outlet I was able to quickly connect. I like the simplicity of it.

Our house isn't so big as it is old and dense, so the wifi signal at the other side of the house often has issues getting through the gauntlet of walls between the living room and the family room. I placed the wifi extender roughly in the middle of the router and the problem spot, pressed the WPS button on the extender and the router, and voila! I was connected. It works well with my linksys router, and I like that even though the desktop is now on the network_EXT it still works with the wireless printer that sits on the regular network. Great product Netgear! I would definitely recommend purchasing this product.

This product works great in our two story house where the main wireless router is separated by a staircase with a corner in it. Cell phones and blu ray players both have improved coverage levels with this device.

It wouldn't work for me. I don't u8nderstand how other people got this to work. First, you couldn't sign in on a web page in order to get the extender to install. Every time you tried, you get an error page saying the page couldn't be found. Then, it conflicted with your wireless network, causing your other wireless equipment to use their connections.

This Netgear WiFi extender practically sets itself up. It was up and running in less than 5 minutes and gave the spare bedroom on the second floor the signal strength it needed for streaming.

    Installation instructions for geeks only

I am very confused about SSIDs,, WPSs, and all that computer talk referring to the internet, so I bought this because it is supposed to be plug 'n play. As are most "easy installation" products, this was not easy to install. It did not find the router (five times, at least), so it failed to connect automatically. It also confused the Netgear WNR 2000 wireless router, and I lost the wi-fi connection on the computer I was using each time I tried to install this.. The manual then says to install it using a Web Browser setup. It tells me to use a "WiFi network manager" on my computer and connect to the NETGEAR_EXT (SSID) WIFi Network. Where is and what is the network manager on a computer? I couldn't find it anywhere. How is the average user supposed to know this techy talk? I have a fairly new computer and Windows 7. So I'm dead in the water. I'm packing it up and taking it back tomorrow for a refund, in spite of the fact that the salesman told me it was a piece of cake to install. I'm certainly not going to call the geek squad to charge me more than it's worth to get it working. Maybe buy a new router? How can you tell what the signal strength output is on wireless routers?
