Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender's ease of use, Wi-Fi range, and signal strength. Many appreciate its quick setup, compact size, and good performance for the price. However, some experienced connection instability, and compatibility issues were also reported by a few users. The Ethernet port was a welcome feature for some.

    This product is awful!

This product is awful! It needs to be reset constantly, as it, without warning, will stop allowing connections to the internet. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've spoken with Netgear and they've helped me to reset the device a couple of times, but it still ends up performing inconsistently. Awful! Awful! Awful!

explained what i was looking for to the sales associate and re suggested the netgear. set up was fairly straightforward but the my laptop could see the netgear but wouldn't connect so i uninstalled and tried again, same result. tried netgear support, worse than useless ! returned to my local store to be told it's one of the most returned items they have. if this is the case why do they keep stocking it !!

Will not work on any network!

I'm on day FOUR trying to get this thing working. I have tried to connect to three different modems (routers) and have spent an hour on the phone with Netgear ... it is STILL NOT WORKING. I read the reviews and should have listened to the people saying it was hard to hook up, as it certainly is. We are trying one more time later today and if I can't get it going, back to BestBuy it goes. I have bought several other Netgear products and all worked easy and were easy to install and get running ... this is not the case with this product. Try something else.

I've noticed a bit of an improvement, but not much. I wish it helped like I thought it was going to.

We could not get this product to connect to our Linksys router. We tried moving it to various locations in the house, even in the same room as the router. We returned it to the store and the guy helping us even said "these things hardly ever work", meaning range extenders in general. I wish you better luck. And... I wasted the $15 in rewards certificates that I used to buy it.

    This was a NIGHTMARE

I've never given something 1 star before but this thing created HUGE problems for me and my marriage! I wanted to go from 3 WIFI bars to 5 bars and the reviews for this item seemed great. It originally set up nicely except the device wouldn't recognize my password. I searched the internet and tried at least 8 different ways to make the WN3000RP work but, oh well, I'll just unplug it and forget about it right? WRONG! The wireless signal just stayed in the house and contaminated EVERY WIFI device we had. Of course my wife was angry that I was fixing a problem that was not a problem. So for 2 days I kept trying to get my original setup to work. I tried EVERYTHING and, of course, XFINITY customer service hadn't a clue. I finally discovered a tiny reset button on the back of my router and this fixed the problem that I created!!! I'm glad people love this and it works for them but for me, it screwed up 2 days of my life.

    Apparently incompatible with some computers?

I'm going to have to return this thing because my computer cannot connect to the internet thru it. My two roommates were able to connect on their computers but when I try to log on, I get a "No Network Access" message. Since there is no tech support available to help me understand what the problem is, I just want my money back. I called the 1-800 number on the back of the box, and their tech support recorded message helpfully told me to contact my internet service provider about the problem. MY INTERNET WORKS FINE! I just need to extend the range to the dead zones of my house. Another mysterious thing is that my computer cannot access the website, www.mywifiext.net, which has information about the product. The two computers on which we can receive a signal from the device are able to access that website?! I am at a loss... All I can think is that this product must be incompatible with my computer (IBM Thinkpad X60, running on Windows 7)

We are full time RVer's & needed wifi extender so we could get better signal from main router in RV park.. Router is about 2000' from where we are parked... Just didn't do the job for us.had to return & get a different one, which is working well. would probably work ok for shorter distance from main router...

I own a Linksys router. Wanted to use this unit as an extension. Not an easy install for other brands. Boxed instructions provided no help. Phone support nice but gave a huge list of things I needed to do with my current router. Too much. Returned for my money back. Disappointed. :/

Both my partner and I are in the tech business. Despite that neither of us could get this device to recognize or hold a connection. Tried calling support, who were as useless as the device. Will be returning this useless thing.

Despite spending over an hour on the phone with NetGear tech support it wouldn't work with a Cisco router. Finally gave up...took it back and got a Cisco extender.

This device would not even connect to our network. Tried all 3 methods and no connection could be made. I returned it and purchased a Linksys Range Extender and it was up and running in under ten minutes...
