Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender's ease of use, Wi-Fi range, and signal strength. Many appreciate its quick setup, compact size, and good performance for the price. However, some experienced connection instability, and compatibility issues were also reported by a few users. The Ethernet port was a welcome feature for some.

Does the job but make sure users set it up via the online Netgear Genie app/website to ensure your system remains secure. Download speed and Upload speeds are roughly half of what I get from the main Wifi Router. However, placement of the Extender and obstacles between the Extender and the main Router will determine your actual speed results. If you use the WPS setup (the easiest method) you will find that your Extender is not secure/locked and anyone can use that signal to access your Wifi router. Even though the product can be used with almost any Wifi router brand, it's probably easier to work with the Online Netgear site if you already have an account for a Netgear Wifi Router.

Although I've never experienced a failure or problem with this item (and recommend it highly), I occasionally experience a failure to set it up using the web interface. However, I just start over and it all seems to work the next time. Just wanted folks to be patient, take a breath, and try it again if they (at first) have a bit of trouble. Do note that the considerably more costly AC1900 model does provide a better signal in more marginal conditions so, if you have a really large area you're trying to cover, you might be happier with that unit. (But I'm not dissing this unit as it does, almost always, get the job done in almost all the installations where I use it.

Wi-Fi Range Extender Did the Job

I live in a condo, with concrete walls, and the WiFi router is at the most eastern end of the unit. I was having trouble connecting Alexa at the western end, and using WiFi (Amazon Prime) on the television (middle of unit). The Best Buy salesman recommended moving the router - not possible. The Netgear extender would be very easy to install if I had a WPA protocall. I was using WEP. I needed my PC to find the Extender signal (the same place where you look for available networks). The installation took less than 10 minutes. I plugged the netgear extender if the middle of the unit and waited 5 minutes. Then I needed to tell Alexa and my television of the this network. It sounds more complicated then it really is. The Netgear extender worked perfectly. Able to use WiFi everywhere in my condo.

We were having continuing problems with wi-fi disconnections that seemed to be related to strength of signal. After installing this range extender, the problem is solved. Installation was simple.

Works as expected. Occasionally has to be unplugged and then plugged in again, and then it works properly again. Doesn't take up a lot of space and is attractive as far as these things go.
