Netgear N300 Wireless N Router - Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can't beat this router for price and performance. I was forced to buy a router for a new installation at the home of a patience returning from the hospital. The family members were going to provide 24 hour care for her during her recovery and they needed connectivity quickly. The N300 was the answer. The customer had Comcast voice and TV and a built in modem in the network interface device. The router was a snap to setup and install using the web interface and from start to finish, the entire task required less than 10 minutes. Since the installation, the wireless router has worked flawlessly. Seven notebooks have connected with the router in the last four weeks and all did so without any issues. The security setup was incredibly easy and the broadcast area is exceptional.

Somewhat reliable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router itself is mostly reliable. I gave a review of two stars because of the very poor customer service and difficulty of installing.

Don't buy this router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router with intent to put parental controls on kid's devices that use wireless in the house. 1) Coverage was poor - new TV on other end of house had poor connection, no coverage on 2nd floor, 2) More is needed for effective parental controls - can't block time frame by device. Although blocks on categories and sites were effective. Lastly, return policy for Best Buy is 15 days - assumed 30 days so I'll have to sell it on eBay.

Do Not Buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this in September and by November I had to purchase another brand. Their customer support told me that it had locked me out because it was trying to be accessed by outside sources. They wanted $120 to fix it. That's not what support is supposed to do. They're supposed to help you get it going again. There's nothing that you can do to unlock it once it's been locked. Look elsewhere please.

Junk. Spend a little more and get the N-600.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the N-300 on sale for $25. Failed almost immediately. Replaced with N-600 which I also have at my other home. The N-600 has been flawless. It baffles me that Netgear can sell both junk and quality routers. The good news is I didn't completely waste the $25 on the N-300, as I took it to the shooting range and had fun shooting at it with my .22 before finishing it off with my .270.

Do not buy this router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router because I needed a quick solution for a simple home network in a small studio apartment. I did not require any advanced features, simply needed one laptop to connect to a wireless network. The router was unable to connect even with troubleshooting through support. I tried several settings and have experience eith wireless networks and was very disappointed in this product. It never ended up working

Just the worst, I will stick with Linksys-Cisco
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After spendin too much time and two calls to Customer service which is in India...not America...the unit still did not operate as it should It returned it and exchanged it for a Linksys-Cisco Router... in 15 minutes to 30 minutes I had it operational, with ease of Port Forwardintg and Remote Access complete....I will never purchase an item with the NetGear name on it again....hurray for Linksys

Second one that failed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These routers have a "lifetime warranty" from Netgear. They are so difficult to deal with and you have to return your product to them at your own cost. I had two fail. The first failed after a year the second after only six months. I bought the second one, as I couldn't wait for a new one to be mailed. This is my last one from Netgear. Save your money.

Excellent Router!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first experience with a router, after educating myself on some of the specifics of these units and reading some of the reviews, I decided to go with this brand/model. I'm so glad I did! Besides being compact in size and covenient to physically locate with its vertical design, it is a quality unit which out of the box worked flawlessly! I found myself surfing the web from practically anywhere in my house-- even outside on my deck! The unit was very easy to install as the included illustrated instructions take you step by step through the setup process. In summary, I'm very happy with the NETGEAR Wireless -N 300 router.

Awesome replacement router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not one to EVER write a review, but seeing as how I read most of the reviews on this model before my purchase...my 2 cents might help someone else out. This router was purchased to replace my D-Link which died on me...and what an improvement it was! Super easy and quick installation (not sure what happened with others who purchased this unit). The network was setup and I was able to connect 2 laptops (one of which has Windows 7) in under 5 minutes. I've only been up and running for about a week, but so far there have been no issues at all. Before writing this review I connected my Blu-Ray player to the network so I can stream Netflix, I think the signal strength is much better. Also the WPS feature on it is GREAT!!! Saves you a lot of time from typing in uber long network passwords on your xbox 360 controller or Blu-Ray remote. The only thing negative I have to say is that I wish this was my first router. Hope this helps someone as it is my first ever review.
