Customers are saying

Customers value the Wireless-N Router's ease of use, performance, and affordable price. Many appreciate its strong signal and wide range, making setup and daily use convenient. While some experienced connection difficulties or compatibility problems, the positive feedback on ease of use and performance outweighs the negative. The router's compact size is also a frequently cited advantage.

I just got this router today, so I can't speak for the longevity or reliability just yet. However, the performance and security of this router is superb. I bought this to replace a finicky D-Link WBR-1310 I got for free with a promotion a few years back (basic 802.11g router). The signal is great, even through a few thick, old walls. Speeds are great as well, although I only speak of LAN/WLAN speeds. I have AT&T dsl, so internet is slow because of that. The router comes with many customizable security settings, especially compared to my old router. The QoS is a great way to optimize network traffic (very handy with AT&T's limited bandwith). By far, the best feature (aside from the performance of the router) is the ability to set up a usage monitor and have it alert you when you are closing in on your set data (or time connected) amount. This provides a great way to stay alert of how close you are to coming to a monthly data cap (something that Comcast and AT&T both employ now). It can even shut off internet access if you reach a certain amount (if you set it this way). The only downside I've seen with this router is the inability to change the router access username (not talking about the SSID). You can change the password, but not the username. I can't think of a reason why Netgear would leave something like that out. It's not a deal-breaker, just a security flaw. Hopefully they fix it with a firmware update. All in all, this is a great product.

Does not interface well with Genie Parental Controls after firmware update. Cannot sent logs via e mail with SSL (a requirement of my ISP) or the port I need to access my SMTP server. Only has 2.4 GHz but at least it has WPA2. Gives sporadic "no internet connection" indication even though I am on the internet using this router.

Bought this to replace my decade old Cisco AIR AP-350 after it suddenly stopped working properly. Went in to the store and looked at price points, warranties, range and speed. I walked to the register and they tried to sell me an extended warranty, I politely declined since this Netgear at 49.99 comes with limited lifetime (90 days basic phone support). When I arrived home and installed it. Plug in and was working just like that. The menu is easy to navigate and has many good features included such as parental controls. I would supplement by using content filtering controls on the PC itself using a product like BlueCoat K9 (FREE). So far so good and I am very happy with the product. Hopefully, this will last me another 10 years.

Connected easily to my PC (cable) and my Roku (cable) and my Android phone. But my Android tablet would not recognize it. When I called customer service, they wanted to charge me $80 just to talk about it. Phoey! I went back to BB and traded it for a Linksys router. That setup was easy and all devices worked automatically.

I recently purchased this router and it being my first wireless router i was expecting a long, complicated setup process. However, it was very simple. Physically setting up the router took about 8 minutes tops and my desktop was connected right away with no issues. I also received a signal (95%) on my psp and ps3 which are both located in my room in the attic while the router was on the ground floor. I also received the signal on my iPhone 3g. Feeling confident i moved on to my dell studio 17 laptop. I inserted the installation disc and enabled my wireless and got connected right away, then i set up the network pretty smoothly and just wrote down the pass-code for future use. I can now receive a full signal from anywhere in my house and on my front porch. Before purchasing this model I had looked at the 150 mbps model but with a $10 price difference the 300 mbps is the best choice. I had also looked at some linksys routers but my girlfriend had a lot of trouble setting it up and i read similar issues on reviews so even though this is my first and only experience with a wireless router, i would definitely recommend a netgear model because they seem to be overall easier to set up.

purchased as a quick substitute for previous router, and immediately noticed a difference: TV constantly flickers when streaming movies and shows on Roku, apps on devices are less reliable, and overall connection is significantly slower. will be replacing soon.
