Not sure what the reviews are about.. the only thing I can think of is those reviews that rated this product higher are from a while back. I first purchased this router despite the low ratings listed. I figured those were just flukes and I wouldn't have the same issue. Set up the router and everything seemed fine at first. I would have given the ease of installation a good rating, but then I installed the router I got to replace this one and realized that the Netgear install wasn't hard, just annoying. After about 5 minutes of using the router, performance dropped significantly. So much so that I was able to watch videos and load websites faster on my phone. My first instinct was to blame Comcast, but after hooking up my laptop directly to the modem I found that it was in fact the routers issue. It would continue over the next few days to have about 5 min here of there of good performance, but then quickly drop off. I felt like I was in 1996 waiting for a page to load over dialup. Finally, I exchanged the router for the same model hoping that maybe it was just the unit itself. Got home and tried to do the install. Even though the router was detected through the display lights on the front of it, and all cords were connected properly, the install program couldn't find the router. I tried several times and finally gave up and returned the product. My recommendation is to stay as far away as possible. More of a headache than anything else. The product I ended up with is listed below. About the same price and have had absolutely no problems with it. Install was incredibly easy as well.

I can say that again, I am super pleased with the sales staff. I was experiencing slow speeds on other wireless machines in the home. After talking with the salesman he recommended this product over my 5 yr old router. Crazy thing is, it was cheaper to have The Geek Squad set it up than it was for me to do it. That was very nice too and the installer provided me with some other suggestions for my system. We are smokin along now. Thanks again Best Buy!

I find this a good product, this is my first wireless router and have good luck with it, quick connection. I bought this because I bought a Kindle Fire and it is performing beautifully, but I found it was not all that easy to set up, unless your computer savvy or know someone who is I would have The Geek Squad set it up, I did and glad that I did.

The Netgear wireless router was a smart and inexpensive purchase.

Thanks to Negears tech support, my router no longer disconnects. The setup was easy enough but it disconnected every morning. The tech had me reset the channel! It worked so finally I can say that this is working just fine.

I received a defective product and I didn't recognize it for 3-4 months. Hence, I could not return to best buy. On contacting Netgear, they confirmed a hardware issue and have initiated a RMA. But, I have to pay shipping rates (for a standard swap I would have to pay 13$ or a 16.90 for a advanced swap). Basically, I have to pay 30% - 40% of the product's price just for shipping for a manufacturing defect! Poor hardware and poor policy - Stay Away!!!

Works as advertised. I was able to get maximum internet speed for my internet plan.

Went to install and found that the provided software was not compatible with my 64 bit Vista, called tech support to locate newer software and they had me up and running within ten minutes. So far it works great with no issues. I have a 2000 square foot two story house and get five bars for signal strength throughout the house. The speed on my laptops is just like being hooked up to a land line. Very impressive. Have not had to restart the router yet.

Easy to set up. Get's the job done. Perfect for gaming and internet browsing with any wireless device.

Good router for the price, very easy to install and configure.

Setup was a breeze, even for a geek like me having to read the non-geek instructions. The only trouble experienced was an unexpectedly small signal range. I realized later that the problem was that there was a wet wall (wall containing water pipes) between the router and the wireless devices. Relocating equipment eliminated the problems.

There are a lot of reviews that complain about dropped internet connections. I had installed this at my parents house no problem. I went ahead and got mine when it was on sale for 69.99. Its a great N router! I did have problems with dropped connections. My parents had no issues. After doing some research it seems that there are some wireless issues with Vista. I did some research and updated my wireless card driver and its been working fine since.
