Customers are saying

Customers value the Wireless-N Router's ease of use, performance, and affordable price. Many appreciate its strong signal and wide range, making setup and daily use convenient. While some experienced connection difficulties or compatibility problems, the positive feedback on ease of use and performance outweighs the negative. The router's compact size is also a frequently cited advantage.

It was a good router up until a bad storm destroyed it from a power surge

Easy setup, performs well. Router needs to "rest" everynight, i.e. does not like running 24/7.

My previous Netgear charger stopped working, but I a router for a multi-computer household. Bought this, hooked it up, had to fiddle around with resetting and rebooting and all, but has worked great since and never dropped the signal.

Chose Netgear because it was supposed to be more user friendly than other brands. It was a snap to install and very happy with use. Lots of good advice and help from Best Buy's knowledgeable staff helped me make this choice. Glad I did!

    What a pain!

The guy at BB recommended this one to me and said it was one of the most popular routers. It was on sale so I went with it. I got frustrated after an hour and a half trying to set it up. My wife is more patient but she spent the rest of the day getting ti to work. Had to download some stuf from vious websites. The signal strength is always "good" or "very good" but never "excellent" like it typically had with my old g router. That being said the response time with the new is definitely better. I guess it's all relative.

Replaced a six year old linksys. This router has worked flawlessly since installation. I stream movies from two devises and use a laptop. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Very good Router, I get an "excellent" connection almost everywhere in my 3000 sq ft house. It has worked well with my ps3 and I have not experienced any lag while playing online.

Bought this to go along with my cable modem so I don't have to lease one from Charter. Works great! Took only a couple of minutes to connect to both my Macbook and PS3!!

So far, it's done an excellent job and seems to be of high quality. Installation was fairly easy, but I could see someone having a little trouble if they've never installed one of these things before. Overall, a great buy.

    Not for me

I told store associate that I was looking to turn a router into a repeater. He said it should work. Well, I found out previous versions may work with a WDS or bridge setting, but the v5 is not capable, even with a dd-wrt firmware. So I need to move up to the 4500, which is overkill. Otherwise you may be happy with this for a standard wireless router. Also I found netgear tech support very easy to get into and communicate my situation.

    Unreliable

Bought this router to replace a Netgear G router. The problem with it is that it kept dropping the connection to the wireless devices 2 to 3 times a day. Tech support was good, but after the third attempt to correct the problem, they decided that the router was defective. They sent me a new one. This one is better and has a stronger signal, but it too drops the signal about every other day.

The only problem I had was seeing a box caption stating the instalation step was complete. I managed to figure out it was but works great! No problems what so ever!

Not much better than my old Linksys wireless G router. I'd spend more to get more next time. Good enough for a small home.

    get a Cisco instead

Perhaps I must have got a 'lemon' version of this router. I've owned several Cisco wireless routers over the last 10 years and never had an issue with them but when I went to BB to buy a new router the BB guru told me to buy a Netgear instead of the Cisco due to Netgears 'lifetime warranty'. After I set it up, it worked fine for several hours but then the wireless signal dropped off completely (and never came back) so I went and reset it---which fixed the problem for about 3-4 hours before it repeated. Well, after a week of consistently doing this, I called NetGear's help line. At which time, I found out that after 90 days, if you call them and ask to talk to someone on the phone they will charge you between $40-$80----not even to guarantee to fix the problem but just to talk to someone on the phone (which is ironic because that's more than I paid for the whole router new). I was immediately uneasy when I found out that a company will not stand behind their product after 90 days and wants to charge me to talk on the phone to fix their screwed up hardware. But I digress, after spending an hour on the phone with the tech, he had me change some advanced settings and 'guaranteed' me this would fix my problem. The next day the problem started repeating so I took it back to BB and exchanged for a Cisco E1200 (which is the exact same price) and haven't had an issue since. Lesson learned: go with my gut and stick with the Cisco reliability that I've had for several years. Thankfully, I had the Netgear router less than two weeks---I would have lost my temper if this happened after 90 days of ownership and Netgear tried to charge me $40 to talk to someone on the phone.

    Easy Install, poor performance

This is the first Netgear product I have purchased and probably the last. I purchased the router because I wanted the N standard. The Netgear router constantly drops signal. I had a linsys router that worked fine and borrowed a cisco router from work and had no problems. I called tech support 3 times and the response time was good, but the results weren't They had me change a bunch of setting each time saying it would fix my problem and I am still having problems

We had been having trouble with a different router working all the time with several wireless devices (desktops, laptops, Nooks, etc.) and since purchasing this router have not been kicked offline once. Thanks.

I've had this router for quite some time and have never had any issues with it. I'm about to buy a replacement for it and I am definitely buying the same router. I would recommend this router to everyone.
