Customers are saying

Customers value the Wireless-N Router's ease of use, performance, and affordable price. Many appreciate its strong signal and wide range, making setup and daily use convenient. While some experienced connection difficulties or compatibility problems, the positive feedback on ease of use and performance outweighs the negative. The router's compact size is also a frequently cited advantage.

    TERRIBLE ROUTER

I live in an apartment and I purchase this router because the sales associate at best buy claimed that this was the best router out. however, when taking it home I had a MAJOR problem setting it up because the router wouldn't configured to my internet. When I called netgear they told me it was my internet and not their product. However it was not beacause my internet worked fine when I plugged my cord back in. Finally, after HOURS of trying to get the router to work and trying to restart the router the wifi finally worked. About a day later I logged on my computer to find out my router stopped working and it had not been touched. I was so upset, I called netgear again and they couldnt help me ONCE AGAIN, so I slapped that router back in the box and took it back. I suggest getting the brand CISCO. EASY setup and no problems :)

I had a Belkin - N300 which finally quit on me. I purchased this router on the word of a Best Buy Sales Associate for use on the second floor of my home and continously had problems losing the wireless connection, which was not the case with the Belkin. I replaced this with the Netgear - RangeMax.

I bought this router so I will be able to stream Netflix to my DVR and it did not work what so ever. I contacted NetGear support and they could not help me either. I ended up trading it for a different modem

Had to return the unit to best buys. The unit would not maintain a wireless connection to the internet. After many calls to tech support, One time I was told maybe I should go back to Belkin, I was told I had a bad router and to take it back. I did and upgraded to a N600.

I Purchased it after having problems with an old D-Link I had the Net gear 4 Mo. when It died so I brought it to the Store and was given a new unit a Geek Squad guy came and set it up it worked fine the first day then I had to call Geek squad and the teck came again It was not functioning properly and I was told if I had the problem again to unplug it to reset it. That was one of the initial problems with the one that had been replaced. it turned out that several times a day it died and needed to be reset thus losing my phones and it also reduced my upload and download speed to about 1/3 of what I should get I determed to go with Comcast phones router and internet in one box BEST BUY RETURNED the cost to me without any problems THANKS BEST BUY

Lasted 8 Months Lost Parental Controls

    Posted .

After updating the firmware, the screen said the parental Genie controls were off. I checked with the open DNS and the device is there. Nothing could bring back the Parental controls that now say they are off. Reset with a paperclip, powered on and off. Used a different computer Windows 7 instead of 8.1. Nothing worked. Router was hard wired to the Internet when I did firmware update. This was very important to me. I need to keep people out of movie and adult sites. Went on the internet to find a cure... NG. More bull advice on the Internet than on a dozen Texas cattle drives. Piece of pig offal. Avoid, waste of money.

Intermittent signal and horrible tech support

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I set this router up correctly, but it still wouldn't work. I called the tech support number only to be on the phone for 2 hours with someone half way across the world who was very difficult to understand. We got it working, but it continued to have intermittent signal. In the course of 2 weeks I had an additional 3 hour and 2 hour tech support call trying to get it to work consistently. The "help" tech finally told me it was my equipment and that I had to pay $75 for premium support for him to fix it. No way! Do not buy this router, it is not worth the headache, time, and frustration.

    Not Even Close To Reliable

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

In 24 hours I've had to reconnect this piece of junque 7 times. It is in my home, which is not that large, the router is less than 20 feet away from a computer and keeps losing the signal. You'd think that wouldn't be that difficult to maintain, but apparently it's far too difficult a chore for this router. I've had Netgear products in the past, but switched to Linksys, which I'll never buy again. This is more than disappointing....it's not like an engine in a new car that has to be broken in....it just plain doesn't keep a steady connection to a reliable modem.

    What a Piece of Junk!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The setup program is NOT I repeat NOT compatible with Vista 64 bit and the "manual" instructions were so complicated that I had to call support, which was helpful, but when I had difficulty printing from my laptop to my network printer, they told me I would have to pay $69 for a "network support package" in order to get assistance. In the 3 weeks I have had this, I have had to power down the unity at least 20 times because the connection drops or goes to "connected with limited functionality" and then disappears from the "connect to a network" window even though my main PC is only 15 feet from the router.

    Netgear customer service is HORRIBLE

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this unit to be able to use my cell phone in my home. Why the wifi seems to be working ok, I can not use my pc, The router will not allow my pc to connect to my modem. After several attempts to contact Netgear by phone and getting the usual automated run around, I was eventually connected to a rep that could not understand me nor could I understand her. I turned to their online customer service and after two days all I have received from them is an automated response. If Netgear has this big a backlog in customer service, I'm inclined to believe that they have a staffing problem or too many problems with their products. I will not purchase any of their products in the future.

    PROBLEMS! PROBLEMS!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Set up is a pain in the rear end. I called tech assistance. The router worked for one day and then died. I was back on the phone with tech assistance and after an hour of trying to repair the router, I was informed it was a bad router and I "need to return it to the place of purchase". By the way, there was another "open box" return on the shelf (same model)...I should have taken the hint and NOT bought it. Now they'll have two open boxes on the shelf. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME or MONEY!

I bought this last June and set it up very easily. Right before I left on Christmas vacation, I kept getting thrown off the internet because the router stopped working. The LED showing connection to the Internet doesn't light at all.I had to uninstall the router.Since then I haven't been able to use my ipad or laptop to access the Internet.I have been trying to work with Netgear's online customer support but: (1# it takes a long time to get a response #in some cases more than 2 days# and #2) the responses do not solve the problem. It is so frustrating to wait for a response and then when the response finally comes, it is useless. Avoid Netgear.

Don't use the CD for installation. I purchased 2 of these prior to Christmas. CD installation failed on both. Open Exploring and install router through "routerlogin". See the back of your router for password. Install through the wizard.

Terrible product. Every day we lose the connection and have to turn it off and turn it back on again. Sometimes more than once a day and we don't use the internet that much!
