Customers are saying
Customers value the Wireless-N Router's ease of use, performance, and affordable price. Many appreciate its strong signal and wide range, making setup and daily use convenient. While some experienced connection difficulties or compatibility problems, the positive feedback on ease of use and performance outweighs the negative. this router is awful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nothing good to say about this router or the company that makes it!! I was told this router was a good buy when shopping at best buy. After installing it worked for a few months with little problems. Now after 4 months it is junk!!! If i am playing my PS3 online and my wife logs on her laptop i lose my connection or it lags so bad . After several calls to netgear and finding out that not a single one of them speaks english very well and that the only way they will help me is if i pay a min of $40 for tech support, with no promise they will fix the issue. This is the first review i have ever wrote ,and figured id let all know how bad it is

Stay Away
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recommended by a store employee (my 1st router). The cable guy installed it so I cannot say how easy or difficult it was to install. I do know it worked well for the 1st week or so and then the problems began (dropping signal). Called tech support and was consistantly told it was my computer settings. After a while, just learned to live with resetting it (turning it on and off) 1-2 times a day. They it eventually just stopped working. It has been several months and I am planning to take it back to Best Buy. We will see if they stand behind what they sell. Will not get another Net Gear.

Not Reliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After having this for a few months it started to drop the wireless signal. Sometimes the signal would be up for several days or even weeks, and other times it would drop multiple times a day. I was constantly having to reset it and it was completely annoying. I don't even know if I would purchase another netgear product after being so disappointed in this particular router.

Piece of junk!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to implement Netflix on Sony BRAVIA KDL46EX710 via a Sony BRAVIA UWABR100 USB Wireless LAN Adapter. Exiting Netgear MR814v2 router worked with a wired connection but not with a wireless connection. The 2 generation "upgrade" Netgear N300 (WNR2000) (Class B to Class N) did not work either wireless or wired. So, the N300 is going back to Best Buy along with the UWABR100. Sony cannot seem to recommend a "certified" wireless router for my situation, so I am (unhappily) stuck with making a permanent wired connection from the 2nd floor to the opposite side of the 1st floor of my house.

Easy Set Up but Can't Stay Connected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I guess I should have read the 1 star ratings more carefully before buying this. I have had this router for 2 weeks and it is going to have to go back tomorrow. The longest It seems to be able to stay connected is about an hour to 90 minutes tops. Then the connection drops for absolutely no reason. Then I have to completely power down and physically reconnect the router to reestablish a connection. Even is I was willing to put up with this I don't think the plugs would last very long with all this constant plugging and unplugging of at least 2 to 3 times a day.

Now need to spend $$$ with Geek Squad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old router died and I bought this one. I used to be able to get "On Demand" programming. Now I can't. I have 2 choices: no "On Demand" or call in the Geek Squad and pay for it. Neither choice is favorable.

Piece of Junk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a year, the wireless on this thing stopped working. I've tried everything from power cycling everything and resetting IP addresses to resetting WEP key and manually adding my PCs in the router setting. Nothing works, I keep getting "authentication failed". It's amazing that junk like this is still being rolled out of factories in this day and age. Now all it's good for is my desktop PC that's connected via a LAN cable. The only good thing I can say about this hunk of wasted plastic is that it's "cool" looking, and considering how cheap plastic is this is even stretching it.

Cannot maintain connection, Support abysmal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a known bug for which Netgear is totally silent. Every day the router drops its connection and won't reconnect without a re-boot of the router. Tried to send support request to Netgear and no response or even an acknowledgment of my email (their Customer Support ops appear to be either non-existant or non-responsive). Its a low cost router that simply is a pain to use. I'm on my way to a tech retailer to buy a different router

Continuously drops internet connection.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even after two phone visits with Netgear Support, and having their technician connect remotely through my PC to set up the router, I was unable to get basic router function to work. The speed was modified down to 54mb to try and stop it from dropping packets, but, to no avail. If I ever get a 300Mb connection maybe I'd try one again. But, that's 280Mb from now.

Not Worth the Effort
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reviews talk about easy set-up. Three hours later & it was put back in the box to be returned. I use a cable modem for my Internet. Everyone wanted to blame the cable company but I could reconnect thru my D-Link wired router & I would be back on line so the cable wasn't bad. I tried the CD installation and it keep juming over step 2. I also tried to connect via the Internet which allowed me to set the Dynamic IP setting which did nothing to improve the situation. I returned it for a Belkin which has the same problem. It's going back today.

Unreliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The box works great usually, but at least 5 times a week it will drop signal and has not functioned correctly even with the help of customer service. They are sending me a new one.

WIFI is terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only the things I had wired to it would work, everything else that ran wireless would get kicked off within 5 minutes and I would have to reset the router to link back up.

waste of money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router CONSTANTLY BREAKS and I had to purchase an extended technical support plan to fix it. When I call in, it normally takes about 2-3 hours to get the matter fixed. The tech support people are quite discourteous. In the end, don't waste your time or money!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The problem I have, is that it loses it's signal often. I am in the middle of something, I lose it. Do not like it. Linskeys was much better. I will change it, I am sure.

Waste of Money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router on the reccomendation of a Best Buy employee and took it home for "easy" plug and play installation. After 10+ failed attempts to install the router I returned it. I checked my internet connection and it was fine despite the router saying one did not exsist. I purchased a Linxsis and it worked great!
